Michael Jordan is not only the best basketball player,
but he's the most exciting basketball player to ever play.
We only dream about doing things that he can do.
I failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.
That wasn't Michael Jordan out there, it was God disguised as Michael Jordan.
Everyone kind of acknowledged we're in a new era.
Michael Jordan was the Alpha Alpha.
Better stay away from Mike, leave that man alone.
Yeah, let's not get it wrong, he was an asshole, he was a jerk.
He crossed the line numerous times, but as time goes on and you think back about
what he was actually trying to accomplish, you're like, yeah, he was a hell of a team.
There's the slam on a break, listen to this crowd,
they're on their feet, it was a 20 second timeout.
Jordan's kind of like that God, he was that angel sent from heaven that I kind of
used him to help me get through some of the darkest days that I had.
Every other day, if I got an opportunity on WGN to watch Mike, it gave me another boost of life.
Don't be afraid to try.
The worst thing that can happen is it doesn't pan out the way that you envisioned it,
but at least you know that by giving it a shot.
Point blank, I've never seen anybody play like he plays, and you can include all of them.
Jordan trying to fake bird, can't do it.
Help to Michael Jordan.
10 points in this period for Ames, and what a great shot.
Jordan ties the game.
63 points, and you're looking at an all time record.
That was a fantastic goal.
That's greatness, you know, I mean, he was he was now the best player.
And so when he hits the shot, go home.
Please, let's see that again.
He's gonna be ready to receive it and take it, and boy, did he receive it and take it.
Only black Jesus for a reason.
I played against him a long time, and he just had the mentality to win,
and if it gets close, he gonna take the shot.
From a public acceptance, you're never a champion until you are a champion,
and once that burden was gone, I mean, he just soared to even greater heights.
It's just hard to imagine.
From championship number six.
Two seconds left.
I walked out on the court, looked at him for the first time in my life.
A human being didn't look real to me.
The one thing about Jordan probably has to be always a better thing like it.
Don't be afraid to try.
The worst thing that can happen is it doesn't pan out the way that you envision it,
but at least you know that by giving it a shot.
That's one of the few guys that I would pay to watch play,
because he is so talented and so much fun to watch.
Off the tumble.
Looking down at the basketball.
Michael Jordan with 22 points.
Unbelievable.
Michael Jordan's the only player that can ever turn it on and off,
but he never freaking turned it off.
Whatever you do, whatever you say,
we're going to beat you.
And once you get them like that,
all you can do is move aside because there's no stopping this freight train.
Shutting down whoever he wanted to.
It was always a challenge.
Has changed the game just by his presence.
Michael Jordan is somebody that I've always looked up to and I want to play with.
You know, it's all in the mentality.
I've been playing with the moves,
I've been playing with Michael Jordan,
and I'm looking to top that.
I think he's probably the most exciting player
that's coming to this league since probably Dr. J.
Jordan with the strength, the concentration.
Ahmad Rashad earlier this year had spent a day with Michael
and gone through his workout training program
and said it's really a difficult one.
This guy has built his body up and he had great strength,
great talent.
For a baseline dunk the first time I matched up with him,
that was like the coolest thing.
It was because I'd seen that spin move so many times
and then I knew he was going to do it.
But the timing on TV and then in person are two completely different things.
So he just spun right before I thought he was going to spin.
He's going to take the shot.
Players that played on the floor,
that excited you by their play on the floor,
myself and Larry.
And now here comes one that excites you.
Sensational foul!
Oh my goodness, where did he come from?
Jordan gets close to the plate and hustles on back to try to use the powers now.
The foul on Wingate is his first.
He's right now but he's certainly still up there.
Jordan goes, he's caroled.
And that's what went left side, right handed and rampant over J.B.
A hit on the foul on Al-Anon.
Troy will calm you down.
This is one for the...
I never feel that I'm at my best.
I feel I still have room to improve.
I still set goals for myself to strive for.
I'm never complacent with what I've achieved.
When I get to a point where I feel I can improve as a player,
I walk away from the game.
I still feel that I have a plateau
that I hadn't reached yet
in terms of my skills
or my expectations of myself.
I'm always going to expect myself
to do better
and better
or surpass certain things.
As long as I believe that,
then my road to success
is going to continue to expand.
I want to excel my game
and isolate my game
from everybody else.
A force of personality that's not the same thing
as sports talent
but elevates that talent.
If you didn't know anything about basketball
and he walked into the room,
you'd say, that's somebody.
That's got to be somebody.
Because he's been doing this for so many years,
I don't think there wasn't anybody
out there who seriously doubted
his comeback.
Everybody knew there were going to be some nights
where he was more effective than others.
Some nights when his legs couldn't carry him.
There were going to be other nights
where he scored 45 points or whatever it is.
But Michael's always had a great work ethic.
We are old.
Sure, we're tired. It's been a long season.
But mentally,
we have a vision.
We have a finish
that we have to attain.
Sometimes you have to do it
when you're old and you're tired.
And I think it's
the test of your will
to succeed
when you have to deal with
some of these negatives.
And I'm pretty sure
by the end of this playoff,
you'll see the old and the tired people
who are very, very young and strong mentally.
Michael Jordan and I are friends
and I call him all the time
because I like his brand Jordan sneakers
and his clothes.
Because a lot of times I had to battle with myself
to keep challenging myself.
That to me was why I would say
the biggest battle was myself.
Because when you get to a certain pinnacle,
you got to find some ways
to keep going out there for 82 games.
Winning has a price.
And leadership has a price.
So I pulled people along
when they didn't want to be pulled.
I challenged people when they didn't want to be challenged.
Once you join a team,
you live at a certain standard
that I played the game.
And I wasn't going to take anything less.
Now, that means I had to go in there and get in your ass
a little bit, and I did that.
You ask all my teammates,
one thing about Michael Jordan was
he never asked me to do something
that he didn't ******* do.
I wanted to win, but I wanted them to win
and be a part of that as well.
Look, I don't have to do this.
I'm only doing it because
it is who I am.
That's how I played the game.
That was my mentality.
If you don't want to play that way,
don't play that way.
