STYLING A BLACK SKIRT in 6 Ways ¦ Classic and Minimal Outfit Ideas

Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel. I hope you're doing great. Today we are taking one skirt and turning it into six different outfit ideas, outfit formulas. I think having a black skirt in your wardrobe that's a-shape, long, made out of cotton, is a lovely piece to have in your closet especially for summertime, springtime, even going into fall time. I look at it as having a great pair of trousers, black trousers, in my closet. It's easy to style, it's versatile, it's comfortable, it's a reliable choice for many different settings, different occasions. And so today I want to show you how I like to style my black A-line skirt and create some different outfit ideas with it. Okay, let's begin with look number one. Styling a black skirt with either a white tank top or a black tank top offers a lot of versatility for various occasions depending on what other items you add to it. So for example, you can either style it with a simple slouchy bag like I did here and a pair of sandals and that's just a everyday simple casual outfit. Anytime you add a buttoned up shirt and it's just untagged, undone, it just adds that effortless vibe to your outfit. Very relaxed, very comfortable and just great for everyday casual outfit. Another great option is adding a jean jacket to this outfit. For example, here I opted for something a little bit longer. Again, it has that same function as the white buttoned up shirt. It's a little bit longer so it just adds that effortless feel to the outfit that I don't care attitude. Styling a black skirt with a vest I think is another great option especially if you're trying to create more of that sophisticated elegant finish to your outfit. I think it's a great outfit for office wear or smart casual outing. And here I switched up the kitten sandal for a closed toe kitten heel with this animal pattern on it. It's a pair of shoes from Zara that I got recently and it's just a really easy way to make the outfit a little bit interesting, add a pop of color, a little pattern to it so that when you have an all black outfit something else stands out and gives the outfit a little bit more interest. And for a more casual feel you can switch up the shoes to a more chunkier sandal and a slouchy bag. Moving on to the next look and here I am using a off-shoulder black top to create this very I would say classic, very elegant look to my outfit. Off-shoulder necklines have a romantic and very feminine feel to them. Anytime you wear an off-shoulder top it just creates this really flattering elegant look. The horizontal line created by the off-shoulder neckline balances well with the vertical lines of a black skirt. I think this combination helps in creating a well-balanced proportioned silhouette that enhances the natural curves of the body. And anytime I see this kind of combination, this outfit formula, I just automatically think it looks really chic and timeless. In this category of feminine and elegance I would also include the sweetheart neckline. This is another great option for this type of skirt. The curved lines of the sweetheart neckline add visual interest to the upper body, while the black skirt, especially if it's a pencil or a-line skirt, helps to define the waist and elongate the legs creating a balanced and flattering silhouette. Most importantly I would say the pair transcends any trends and it remains stylish year after year making it a reliable choice for many different settings. For look number five I'm taking various white tops and pairing it with the black skirt. Whenever you wear black and white together it just automatically elevates your outfit to the next level, makes it look really put together and elegant. And so it's an easy way to create those outfits that you look really great in. So for example here I took my silk flowy buttoned up blouse and I paired it with the white skirt. But I also love the casual feel of a white linen buttoned up shirt, untagged. I think it goes really great with this skirt. It's great for summertime, you just want to be relaxed, you want to feel great in your outfit but you don't want anything too fussy. This is a really great option. Or pairing it with a white crisp t-shirt. This is an outfit formula that is always in, you're never going to feel outdated. Or opting for a pop of color like I did here with the red belay flats or maybe adding a stripe shirt. Again anytime you add a little bit of pattern print into your outfit it just makes it pop a little bit and adds a bit of interest to your look. For look number six I added a cashmere cardigan and I just really love the cashmere with the cotton. It's great for those summer evenings where it might be getting a little bit cooler. I think this is also going to be great for fall as well. This is a look that is always going to be around. It has that 50s 60s vibe to it and you can also obviously make this a little bit more casual by switching up the shoes. So for example here I paired it with my Birkenstocks or adding a little bit of color like these belay flats. I think adds a really nice touch to the outfit. I love this outfit for various reasons. First of all it's simple but it's also classic, it's timeless, it's minimal and it's always going to come around. This is something that you can, as I said many times before, you can take out every single year and enjoy and feel wonderful in. And again it's an outfit that you can easily transition into fall by switching up the shoes for a pair of booties and you're good to go. It's great for an office environment or maybe a dinner out. I actually wore this the other evening when I went out to dinner with my husband. Oops, there goes Goli barking. But I just think it's such a great timeless outfit. Okay that is everything.
