Skiing Teewinot in Grand Teton National Park | Full Video
Well back in Teton Park. I was hoping to kind of go up one of the most popular spots. Nice road
to it, trail up there, but the road is still closed. So change of plans. I'm going to head
up towards Tiwanot. Definitely a little late for that. There is some cloud cover so it's possible
the snow is going to hold for me. So most likely going to just go up about halfway,
check out the conditions, and then ski back down. But who knows, might luck out. Could be good snow
up there and stay cold enough that I might even be able to make it to the top. There's a bit of
swamp at the bottom so I'm just randomly walking through the woods trying to find the best access
to the snow at the base. But I think I found a nice field that will hopefully head right to it,
but who knows. We'll see. Well that cloud cover that I was hoping for is now gone. It's full sun
and getting real hot. So skinning up now but most likely since it's east facing it's going to be too
warm once I get up there. Possibly the breeze will keep it good but not high hopes anymore.
Well I made it up to the steepest part skinning and I'm going to boot from here.
Put crampons on, ditch some extra gear that I'm not going to need like my skins and ski crampons.
There's no point in carrying them to the top. Make sure you put them somewhere that's not going to
get sloughed out if any debris comes down. But the snow is actually staying pretty hard
surprisingly. Now the only thing I'm worried about is just losing light and have to ski in the shade.
But other than that it looks like it's a pretty decent shape up to the summit so I'm going to
keep heading up. Well got a little late on that one. I was really trying to push to the top before
the sun went down. Made it for the first pitch but unfortunately the crux is already in the shade.
Didn't really matter for the snow but it's just harder to see and not quite as much fun. But
still skied all the way down the from the top. Pretty crunchy snow. The sun actually never
softened it up enough to be corn skiing but safer that way just slower skiing. About halfway down
it did turn to good corn and had good corn almost all the way to here. Now I'm navigating through
creek and the brush. Made it down to where I dropped myself a cold water. So I got a little
bit more to go down. Hopefully don't see any moose or bear down in the swamp that I got to go through.
