Spanish with Shakira - Estoy Aquí - Part 1 of 6 | Learn a language with songs

The first Spanish song I ever heard was Shakira’s song called “Estoy aquí”, which means “I am here”. It was because of this song that I started to learn Spanish; I really wanted to know what the words mean, especially the fast bits in the middle, so I sat with a dictionary and tried to translate the whole song (this was back in the days before you could easily go onto Google Translate). I became fascinated with Spanish and went on to learn it at university, but I must admit that a good proportion of the words I know first came from Shakira songs. So, let’s have a look at one of my favourite Shakira songs, “Estoy Aquí”. I will go through the song, bit by bit and explain what it means, but I’ve put a link to the entire song in full in the description for this video, so you can enjoy it in its entirety. As we go through the song, I’ll explain any interesting Spanish language points that will be useful for you to know.
