Korda Takes On Tiafoe; Shelton & Cobolli Clash | Washington 2024 Semi-Finals Highlights

Game, Cordova. Cordova leads, two games to love. Game, Tiapho. Game and first set, Cordova. Second game to four. 30-15. Game, Cordova. Love 15. Tiapho taking control. The ideal stop. 15-11. And he's a point away from making it three straight. Game, Zemeckis. Now, the hometown hero may have been vanquished. 6-4, 6-4. But there's a new name to root for in D.C. for these American fans. Seb Cordova will go for the father-son double in D.C. As 32 years after his father, Peter, triumphed and took home the trophy from this very event, tomorrow, he'll step on the court to try to accomplish the same thing. That has been an issue for Cavalli, averaging being broken three times per match this week. Some nifty racket work from Shelton, and it delights the crowd. He's just bossing it right now. Oh, nifty pickup. Good depth from Shelton, and Cavalli's able to handle it. And Cavalli gets his second hold, so the break to start, but they're playing quick. Five games in 18 minutes to move up. Up with the goods. Once again, showing both his forehand prowess and that backhand pass secures the break. Cavalli struggles, and it benefits Shelton. Cavalli commits three unforced errors and hands over a serve. Ben Shelton learns a lesson as he comes up. Comes out redlining. He holds for the opening set. At this moment at 48. That is a career high, and as Shelton steps into the midcourt. Nine sets. There's that pass again. Double faulting it away. No tie break for Shelton. He's gonna be taking the distance. Cavalli right back into it. Shelton undeterred. He's tried that move forward a number of times. That ball gets up off the volley and hits long. Nice finishing touch, and the forehand continues to prove useful. Ooh, slanted in. The chance to reach the final day. Shines bright in D.C. What a demonstration of strength, stability, and sensational tennis. As he knocks out the two-seat Ben Shelton, coming back from a set down once again as he did in the round of 16, saving five match points.
