I'm staying in this beautiful village. It's about a 40-minute drive from X. It's called
Allens and I am here because I am taking care of this sweet boy, Timian, and two other beautiful
babies. I just wanted to show you guys around because I am showing all around. I've been here
for a couple days now. Timian and I are going to be his tour guide and show him and you guys
around this sweet, sweet village. I'm going to miss this boy so much. He's moving to New Zealand
and oh, I'm going to miss you, Timian. This village is just, just wait until you see it.
It's beautiful. Ready to go show them around? Let's go. Yes. Taking a little break in front
of this beautiful home. I just love the way the tree, the shadows. It's so pretty.
This is the entrance to the village. It's very, very tiny, but there is just so many
cute little details throughout like the cicadas. I've seen an angel in the stone.
I'm excited for Paul to see how many cute little details we can find.
Timian, let's go show them the view. This way. Let's go show them. Come on. This view here guys
is just so beautiful. Timian has been my tour guide the whole time we've been staying here
and these are the ruins from the chateau. Can you see it?
It has been so lovely staying in this village. Every evening Timian and I come out here and I
eat olives and have a Pellegrino and it's just been so nice sitting under the trees. Really,
all I ever hear in the village is the sound of the birds, cicadas and the wind and it's just,
oh church bells as well. The church bells is a big thing here. It goes off every single hour and
then at the half hour mark you'll hear one bell, but it goes throughout the whole night which is
pretty interesting. I didn't think that would happen, but I've been loving it and I kind of
wanted to talk about the differences of being here and Aix-en-Provence. In Aix, it's a city,
a lot more people and people I would say aren't as friendly as they are here in this village.
Everyone is really talkative here, makes small talk, which I love. I really miss having a
community. When I lived in Los Angeles, in Highland Park and in Pasadena, we knew all our neighbors
and here in Aix, it's not like that. Everyone kind of keeps to themselves. You say hi
and that's as far as the conversation usually goes and here, I don't know if it's because I'm
walking a dog that people are more talkative towards me, but even Paul was surprised. He was
like, wow, like everyone talks to you here when we are walking through the village and I was like,
I know, isn't it nice? Paul was saying he doesn't know if he could ever see himself living in a
but it's something I really miss is community and I just really adore this village. I'm definitely
going to go back out and take you guys out probably on Tuesday because they have a market
here every Tuesday. Now, I'm just going to spend some time with Timmy out in the yard. I hope you
guys enjoy this video.
Today is apparently market day in the village so I wanted to go pick up a couple of things
to make a sandwich today and it's just very very quiet here so I'm trying to be as respectful as
possible by talking to the camera. I just don't feel comfortable vlogging in such a tiny village
but it's absolutely beautiful. I've enjoyed my stay here. I leave tomorrow night and it will be
eight full days that I got to spend here so it's been really really lovely and yeah so I just
wanted to capture some more moments of this really really cute village and share it with you.
It was a really really nice morning walk. I had to get out before the heat arrived. It's
going to be like 90 degrees today so the heat and summer is officially here in Provence.
As you can see there's not much that's going on in the village. It is literally just people's daily
life here. There are homes and there is a boulangerie, a couple restaurants which aren't always open,
a hairdresser and I think that's it and so I specifically wanted to visit the market but the
market was so small. There was a man selling books, a woman selling plants and some syrups,
cheese and a pizza truck and that was it and I ended up buying some lavender syrup.
Let me go get it. So I ended up buying some syrup from her. This is the lavender syrup and it's just
water, sugar and lavender and she makes these herself. She had thyme and some other flavors
but I've been wanting lavender syrup so I got that for myself and I was sad because I wanted
to get some fresh produce from the market but there was none and I guess usually there are
more stalls and today for some reason there wasn't and that is just kind of like how France works.
Some things will say they're open, they're not open and you just have to go with the flow here.
I went to the boulangerie also and got a fresh traditional baguette so I'm excited to make a
sandwich with this and I got a tomato for my sandwich. Look at how pretty. So pretty. I got
an avocado for my sandwich and then some olives for apéro and then I saw the chip aisle. Love me
some chips. Brats are so good and I saw a very interesting flavor and apparently it's new.
Pastis. So this will be interesting because pastis is a Provencal drink here and the people
adore it. It's made with like star anise. It has that licorice flavor so I was like okay I need to
try these. I probably won't like them but I couldn't say no. And yeah so that was like my
little morning outing and Timian and I are just gonna stay indoors until it cools down this
evening and go on our evening walk and probably just relax in the garden, make my sandwich,
try these chips out. It's so different here. I could see me getting bored if I lived in a village
though. Like there's beautiful walking areas and I think that's because I don't drive. If I drove
it'd be different. I'd be able to drive to nearby places and take Timian with me and go on little
outings. But yeah so if you're ever thinking of moving to a French village it is lovely but you
would have to drive I think because getting by on bus here is yeah could be a struggle. But anyways
enough of me blabbing. I'll see you guys later. Okay I got my lunch. I already opened this bag of
chips and I actually like them. It's so strange. It's such a weird chip flavor but the fact that
they're not that strong. Also going to try out my lavender syrup that I got. Very excited about this
and it's always just so nice to support the local vendors here. So I'm sad that the market was not
what I wanted it to be. I wanted to go shopping but that's okay. And I just made myself a lovely
tofu sandwich and now Timian and I are just going to enjoy the sound of birds,
the wind blowing in the leaves and enjoy lunch outside.
