2 teens accused of robbery, shooting may be connected to other crimes: Philadelphia police
the aftermath of an armed robbery and
shooting this weekend captured on
surveillance video the victim who
suffered a bullet wound fired his own
gun at the suspects now two 16-year-olds
are identified as the primary suspects
it is Sunday night I'm Walter Perez the
big story in Action News is the armed
robbery and shooting that took place in
the Windfield section of the city
officers responded to the scene along
North 41st Street last night those
attending classes at a nearby mosque say
they heard the gunfire erupt just after
9:00 action news reporter Brianna
Gallagher joins us live from Police
Headquarters with details tonight
Brianna G Walter well police tell us
that that man was able to walk over to
Philadelphia police officers who
responded to the scene after he was shot
in the chest and tell them exactly what
unfolded just moments before they
arrived on
scene he was at least had the
wherewithal and the presence of mind uh
and at least the strength to be able to
explain to officers what had occurred uh
and at that point we immediately rushed
him to the hospital Philadelphia police
responded to multiple calls last night
for a shooting on the 1200 block of 41st
Street officers arrived to a 26-year-old
man shot in the chest and a 16-year-old
suffering from multiple gunshot wounds
he explained to police that uh he was
the victim of a robbery and we do
believe that that is in fact what
occurred officers say the 26-year-old
told them he was a victim of a robbery
and that two teenagers approached him
and tried to Rob him he explained
explain that he was a legal gun owner
and when uh the individuals brandished a
weapon he then brandished his own we
spoke with a man who was inside praying
at a mosque on the corner when shots
rang out surveillance video shows people
running down the block we were in class
and we were studying and we heard a
noise shooting Bow Bow Bow Bow Bow and
then the
people just one guy fell here and
another one fell right there he says
there's been a lot of crime in the area
mostly at night I just come to the m and
try to just make it home safely with the
element of crime in these areas sometime
people just need to feel protected but
it's just sad that it was a case where
this guy was event uh
attacked and now we got two people in
critical
condition that victim who has a license
to carry and one of those teenagers they
are in critical condition the other
teenager was taken into custody police
say now they're looking into if what
took place last night is connected to
any other recent robberies they're
already investigating in that area we're
live outside of Philadelphia Police
