US concerns about Beijing and Moscow's cooperation in the Arctic

The Pentagon's report on July 22 noted that Russia has recently increased its military presence in the Arctic. This includes the reopening and modernization of several abandoned bases and airfields since the end of the Soviet Union. Meanwhile, Beijing has invested heavily in exploration and research in the Arctic as part of its efforts to build the "Polar Silk Road."
