Mentors: Surprise, You’re Surfing Jaws Today | SURFER Films

This is Jaws! We're finally here for the first time ever! Oh my God, I'm going to be scared to death! How are you feeling? I'm very nervous, actually. Yeah, this was not a fun project at all for me. What makes you nervous about it? Just the fact that he's going to Jaws. I've been there once when Tony was there, and I didn't like it. So, it kind of scares me. And I don't know how he's going to respond. If he's really going to like this or not. So I'm trusting in all the guys that I spoke to that said he'd be fine. Yeah, we're here right outside the Goldbaum house. Just got here this morning. This morning we're surprising Seth Moniz. I'm taking him over to Jaws on Maui for his first ever Jaws session. So, I hope he's psyched. We've got a board made from white to coral for Jaws, especially. Looks about right, and we're going to go and surprise him right now. I love the spray, Tony. Very cool. You can see he had a passion for water. At seven, eight years old, he loved being in the water. So it's no surprise to me, or anybody on Maui for that matter, to see where he's gone with stand-up, with kiting, with mid-wave surfing in general. He has absolutely loved the water. We've got two surprises for you. No way. One is a board. Let's go. So sick. What is this for? It's for Jaws. No way. Yeah. For Jaws. We're going right now. We're going right now? Yeah. It's a second surprise. Yeah. All right. I'm going to fly to Maui in a Jaws for my first time. I'm pretty scared, but I'm pretty psyched. I'm going to meet Shane and go and be a good safety crewman. Really good. The best crewman in the world, so I'm going to be safe. We're here. We've got a ways to go, Jackson. We do? Yeah. I'm so scared. Here we are at the cliff at Piaia, Jaws. It looks big, and it's getting bigger. We've got an evening session on our hands. Seth is putting on his gear and getting his board together. How are you feeling, Seth? Pretty nervous right now, but psyched at the same time. First time here. It's a lot to take in watching it right now. It's real. I always watch it on TV or videos. How does it look? Probably like 20 feet, I think. I'm not really sure. It's hard to tell from here, but we'll see when we get out there. Winds. 20 feet for sure. On the sets. Yes! How was it? So psyched. Got a couple of lifts. Got to Shane, get a pack, a big one. Get a couple of bombs. It was fun. Seth did great. Thanks. Got our first Jaws sesh for Seth, and he got some really good ones. We made it in safely, braved the rocks, and got in without injury. It was good. Okay, today is a big swell. It's going to be awesome. The waves are barreling. It's about 18 feet. Lots of spit coming out of the waves. And that's it. Day 2. Jaws. It's fun. A little smaller, but looks like it's getting the new feeling. Barreling. Hopefully we get some. Super psyched. Way more comfortable today than I know I'm going into. Do that thing. Seth's trying to thrash my board. It's day 2. Our second day early in the morning at Jaws. The sun's just coming up. No one's in the lineup yet, and it looks really good. We're seeing some bombs, and we're just about to do the jump. We just took our fins out, so we can jump and not break our fins out. Now we're about to head out. Looks good. Looks firing. Seth is psyched. That was psyched.
