Welcome to the Algarve. We're super excited. We are road tripping Portugal's famous coastline.
Are you ready? I'm so ready. It's so beautiful here and the sun is so strong right in our faces.
Check out this amazing view you guys. This is only a six minute walk from our place.
How beautiful is that? That's crazy. The coastline is just absolutely stunning. It's like
from a postcard which you see when you think of the Algarve. It's just so great.
So the Algarve is divided into three sections. The western, central, and eastern areas. We're
staying in the little town of Carvoeiro. It's basically on the line right between the western
and central section. We chose this little town because it's pretty centrally located and it's
not more than like an hour's drive from anywhere that we want to go to this week. This is our first
day here. We're so excited. We are going to, we haven't actually been to the town yet. Like Tommy
said, we're staying a six minute walk away. So we're going to head down to the boardwalk,
walk into town, check out the beach, and kind of see what this area is all about.
So Tommy and I were walking to the boardwalk and right before we got there
we came across this area. So this is called the Algarve Seco. It's actually one of the highlights
here in the Algarve to check out. I had no idea that it was on the way to town, but yeah let's
go check it out. Look at that view. This is crazy. This is so cool. So this little cave is called
Agua Neca's cave or like the doll's cave because these two holes are like two doll's eyes that
look out over the ocean. What a beautiful town, right? It's so cute. Like whitewashed buildings
set in like the cove with the beach. I love the beaches just right in the middle of town. That's
so cool. I know. I love it. It doesn't look like the waves are very big. I bet you like because
these cliffs like shelter the beach. It's probably very calm. I actually read that it's one of the
best swimming spots around because the cliffs protect the big waves. So it's very calm. Oh
I'm so smart. The setting behind you is so pretty. Is it? Yeah. I love the one behind you with the
orange rocks. Yeah. I love how all the sand here is so golden. When was the last time we just sat
on a beach? I don't know but it's so nice. It's so freaking nice. We kept looking at all the best
beaches to go to and then we just really couldn't be bothered to drive anywhere. The point of going
to the beach is all about relaxation and so we just came to the one closest to it.
You ready to go swimming? Oh my gosh it's like an ice bath. How are how are these people in the
water right now? Oh my gosh. It's so cold. Okay you're getting in right? Yeah me. No don't. You're getting in?
Do I have to? No. I bet you can lay out for like forever now. It's 20 minutes for sure.
So refreshing. So cold. What a spectacular first spot here in the Algarve for us. I love this town.
The beach is huge. Not very busy at all right now and the buildings. It's everything so beautiful
and white. Seems so clean. Cheers to one of our favorite meals. Seafood. I know. For a long time.
Tommy and I decided you can't come to the Algarve and not eat seafood so we are having a splurge
meal tonight. We just yeah found a restaurant that's like set up on a hill in Caravero.
Caravero. We'll never get it. Anyway cheers to a nice seafood meal. Oh I want this one that's like
salted. Wow look how good that looks. That's like my favorite thing I've eaten in so long.
These are they called them something different here but we ordered some shishito peppers.
They're so good.
Enjoy it. Thank you. You're welcome. We ordered this big seafood clam shell type thing. It comes
with mussels, clams, and shrimp with like a delicious looking sauce. Prawns actually. Prawns.
Prawns. Yes the fancy word for shrimp. Okay let's be fancy. We're gonna dig into the seafood.
Oh it smells so good. Okay. Oh goodness. Oh don't film me I'm too full.
Well how'd we do? We did really good. It was so good. So I didn't realize it was
like a whole layer of fish, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Yeah three different types of fish. Yeah
and like the best sauce and then we ordered extra bread to like soak up all the sauce.
Y'all I'm so good. I'm so full. For dessert we ordered the algarve tart. It's made with
all ingredients grown here fresh in the Algarve with a side ice cream. What were the ingredients?
There was fig, almonds, and carob. Huh? Carob. Carob. Tommy doesn't know what carob is. Tommy
booked one of the most iconic things you can do here in the Algarve is a kayak ride through
Benajil cave. So we booked a bright and early tour because we read on all of the reviews go as early
as possible because this place sees a lot a lot of tourism and traffic. So we're on one of the
first kayak rides of the morning and we are heading to our meeting place right now.
And we're off. We're officially kayaking today.
Look how crazy this is.
This is so amazing. He said that there are some fossils in the wall that are 19, 20 years old.
It's so crazy. Wow. Yeah. So it took us like 10 minutes to kayak here and we get like
20 or 30 minutes to like explore this cave and that cave over there.
Wow. We just made it to this beach. This place is so epic. The cliffs are so huge and orange.
What's it called? Marina beach. Marina beach. We call it like the golden beach because when
the sun reflects off of the cliffs and the sand, everything turns a nice golden. There she is.
on the tour because we're still like a little ahead of the season. So they bumped us to the
Still beat most of the crowds.
So that kayak ride was super epic seeing that cave and actually going through the
other caves was so fun too. Our group and guide was wonderful. So thank you.
We've come to the restaurant Ramirez. This is the birthplace of the Peri Peri Chicken,
what the Algarve is known for. So you can either order your chicken a regular or spicy. We got our
spicy of course and it also comes with fries and a tomato salad and we're starving so I'm really
ready to dig in. It's kind of like a scrawny chicken isn't it? My lips are burning. I hope
it's not too spicy for you. They almost look like little chicken wings. They're pretty small right?
That might be too spicy for me. It's perfectly cooked chicken but what makes it so special is
that sauce. That sauce is so good. Peri Peri means pepper. Oh it does.
That makes sense. I love the spice. The waiter here was so sweet.
He gave us a little glass of port wine to try. Cheers.
That's good. Oh and what are these? This is beef jerky.
It's like a fig and nut cake like strip. It's made from figs and almond.
It's a good combination. Thank you. Hey I guessed right. I said it's like fig and nuts. It's fig
and almonds and it's a good pairing with the port wine. Don't leave me hanging babe.
Okay that was a pretty good lunch. I don't know if I'd drive 30 to 40 minutes out of your way to
eat there. There are so many great restaurants here in the Algarve but we just paid and no better
time to talk about these new wallets we've been using. So these are from Ridge. They are the
perfect travel wallets. They are very compact, super durable, and lightweight. They're also RFID
blocking, keeping all your cards safe as you're traveling. I also love the look of these wallets.
Look how sleek this is. They're also customizable. I got mine with the money clip and Sammy got hers
with the cash strap. I love that Ridge has so many color options on their website. I went with this
one. It's so cute. It's like a pink groovy floral pattern. They also come with a lifetime warranty
so that's super awesome. If you guys are interested in any of the Ridge products we're going to leave
the link in the description box below and you guys can use our code Sammy and Tommy for 10%
off your purchase. Good morning you guys. This morning we are doing the famous Seven Hanging
Valleys Trail. This was voted one of the top hikes to do in Europe and you can see why.
Look at this golden beach behind me, these steep cliffs, and the turquoise beautiful water.
It's going to be a good day. How awesome is this? They have a little picnic bench with this view.
So yesterday we walked west along the coast and this hike is going, we're walking west to east.
So we started in our little town of Caballero. Caballero. Ay ay ay. And we're heading down to
Praia do Marina I think is our ending point. The whole hike is like 13.9 kilometers but we're just
walking that little stretch of it and then we'll probably take a taxi back to to our town.
So I haven't really mentioned on this channel but when I was growing up I was in speech therapy for
a number of years in elementary school. So sometimes the words just don't come out properly
for me. Also I was the worst person in all my classes with public speaking. See? With public
speaking or get in front of the class give presentations. Oh that was like my biggest fear
by far. So sometimes days are rough and I can't get the words out of my head.
My mind's always working way faster than my speech apparently.
Wow Sammy's changed over the years. Look at you leaning out. If you slip you're gone.
Why would you say that? You always say to me. He's trying to make me stay scared.
Scare you straight. Look how brave she is though. Am I making you nervous? You're making me nervous.
For first. Uh-huh. Great spot for a water break right? Yeah sorry I was just sucking that down.
I was thirsty. Definitely make sure you bring a lot of water because there are well there haven't
been any stops so far so and it's hot and we're here in early May so definitely bring water
and sunscreen and hats and you know all the things you need for a hike.
We're just walking by this amazing beach. Look at the color of it. It's like gold
surrounded by all these cliffs so it's protected from the wind.
So when you first come down I didn't even see the entrance going right through there. It's so tiny.
That might be the coolest entrance and exit of a beach that I've ever been to. Oh my gosh Timothy
is making me so scared. So we met Timothy. He is from France and he's hitchhiking and walking
all the way from where was it? Luxembourg to Senegal. Luxembourg to Senegal which is wild.
Well done man. Anyways we were talking to him and now he's testing us right now. He already went
through he was like jumping these big rocks like he's so athletic and so quick and now he's climbing
this rock out here. Oh my gosh Timothy you are making us nervous dude.
I think this is the best view yet. I know I love it with all the like the little beaches and
then if you look down here you can see the clear like tide pools.
We made it to the end. This is really cool over here where you have like that M that we were like
looking at down. Oh I'm tired you guys. You have that M over there that you like look down onto
the beach whenever there's low tide you can it looks like you can walk through all of those
rocks and like walk through the caves and explore which would be a really fun activity if we weren't
so tired from walking for the last four hours. Good morning you guys. We made some last minute
changes on today's plan. I'll fill you in in a minute. We gotta get going. We're gonna head to
the town of Lagos to do a boat tour which we're very excited about to see the whole coastline
from the water. So unfortunately since we booked our tour a little bit last minute
we booked the one at 12 30 and we're kind of like rushing to get there. We have made a couple
wrong turns so we actually I thought we were gonna make it but we actually might not make it.
Hopefully if we don't make it they let us get on a later tour
if not the tour was only 20 bucks a person so it's only 40 dollars but
We have a chance to make it. We made it to Lagos. All right that's the marina.
Okay we made up with our tour guide Bruno. He's gonna show us around today. Yeah just in time.
Nobody else booked a tour so it's a private tour. It feels weird that we're doing a private tour.
Very weird. Spoiled.
Look at our big boat to ourselves.
thing and when you look up to the ceiling you can see like all of the fossils and
shells and everything. It's very cool. The throat of the dragon.
Thank you. Pleasure meeting you. See you next time. Thank you guys. Well that couldn't have
worked out any better. No wait at all. Private boat tour. Both our guides were fantastic. The
driver was so smooth going in and out of those caves. The scenery was so gorgeous. Oh my gosh.
Such a great time of day to go to. Wow that was so worth it and it was so easy to book too. We'll
leave a link to get your guide down below. Since we're here in Lagos this is supposed to be like
one of the main hubs in the Algarve. A lot of people stay here like during their trip to the
Algarve and it's supposed to be one of the most charming towns. It has a charming old town.
So since we just finished up our boat tour we're gonna go walk through the old town check it out
and see what's over there. So this town is super nice to walk around with its whitewashed buildings
and cobblestone streets. It's also a pretty small old town surrounded by these very old medieval
walls and it has tons of history which we learned about on our boat tour. So there are several
reasons to visit here. There are secluded beaches, a castle, a fort, also this really cool ancient
bridge which takes some amazing photos. We were lucky enough to see it from the boat but the main
reason is a scenic viewpoint overlooking the ocean and all these beautiful cliffs. I'll put the name
here because I cannot pronounce it. We were lucky enough to see it on our boat tour and it's the
reason why this place is very popular. Not only to stay but to take boat tours out just to go
through the caves and see that area. Okay that was such a great little stop in Lagos. I'm so glad we
decided to book ourselves on that last minute boat tour. So fun and the cherry on top was just
having it all to ourselves. It all worked out like it was supposed to. Yeah I don't know if we mentioned
either. It was only $20 a person so so worth it. Absolutely worth it. Okay our next stop is
Cape Saint Vincent right? That's it. In Sagres. So whenever we do road trips people always ask what we
use for a rental car. So this time we used Discover Cars. We found a great deal. It was only 96 euros
for the seven days. 96 USD. Oh never mind. 96 USD says the business manager over there.
But such a great deal. We actually took a train from Lisbon to Faro. Faro is like the main hub
here. You can rent cars or take a bus or train to where we are now the Algarve. But yeah such a great
deal. We'll leave a link in the description box below for Discover Cars. See if you guys can find
a great deal like we did. Made it to the most southwest point in Portugal. Southwestern most point in Europe
actually. Oh in all of Europe. Yeah so they used to call this place back in the days the end of the world.
You can see why. The cliffs here are super steep. The wind here is very strong. You can see why they
thought it was the end of the world right? Yeah it's so just wild out here. The wind is very strong.
Definitely bring a sweater if you come out here. There's like a lighthouse at the end of this point.
Absolutely just stunning. Yeah definitely worth the drive over here. And the winds
make these huge waves that just crash against these rocks too.
So the sunset actually sets right there you guys. So this would be an epic spot for sunset.
Well this is a great last stop on our Algarve road trip. I hope this video helped you guys plan
a year trip to the Algarve. We appreciate you guys. Thank you so much for watching and we will
see you guys in the next one where we head to a brand new country.
