Manchester United is attempting to hijack Bayern Munich's move for Paris Saint-Germain
midfielder Xavi Simons, according to recent reports. Despite Simons reportedly agreeing
to terms with Bayern Munich, Manchester United remains hopeful of securing the 21-year-old
Dutch international's signature, Simons impressed at Euro 2024, attracting attention from top clubs,
including Manchester United. His versatility in both central attacking and flank positions
makes him a desirable addition to Eric Tanhaag's team. Last summer, Manchester United made a
€50m bid for Simons, which PSG rejected, and his value has increased following the European
Championships. While Bayern Munich has already agreed on personal terms with Simons, Manchester
United may still have a chance, as PSG is willing to negotiate a deal. The Red Devils are also
pursuing a £60m deal for Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Agarte from PSG, which could potentially
influence their chances of signing Simons, former Manchester United striker Luis Saha believes
Simons can bring much-needed unpredictability to the team's attack and fulfil the role expected
of Mason Mount. With Simons' stock rising after his Euro 2024 performance, Manchester United will
likely need to offer a significant amount to secure his signature.
