Harry Kane is cursed. Here's a look at the 10 finals and trophy attempts he's lost.
The curse begins in 2013, not at Tottenham but at Leicester City. On loan at Leicester,
Kane watched from the bench as Manuel Almunia saved a penalty and Troy Deeney
scored the famous last-minute winner for Watford.
The 2015 League Cup Final. This was Kane's first shot at a trophy for Spurs
but missed out when Tottenham lost 2-0 to Chelsea.
A year later, Kane found himself in a Premier League title race with Leicester City.
Unfortunately for Kane, Tottenham somehow finished third in a two-horse race.
This is when the term Spursie started floating about.
That summer, in 2016, England suffered their most embarrassing result in history.
Even though it was not a direct shot at a trophy, Kane was there.
And for some odd reason, he was on corner duty.
In the 2018 World Cup, England were on their way to bringing football home,
but Kane didn't square it to Sterling. And Croatia won the semi-final.
The 2019 Champions League Final. Tottenham's first ever Champions League final saw Liverpool
win 2-0. It was an all-too-familiar sight for Harry.
It's now 2021. Mourinho took Tottenham to a League Cup Final against Manchester City.
Up to this point in his career, Mourinho has won every single final he's been in,
including against Pep Guardiola. But this is Spurs we're talking about.
They sacked Mourinho a week before the final. Spurs lost 1-0 to City in 2021 summer.
England were again trying to bring football home. Unfortunately for Kane,
England's penalty ghosts from the past came to haunt them.
England lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy.
A year later in the Qatar World Cup. Kane missed a crucial penalty in the
match against France in the quarter-final. England were eliminated.
In 2023, Kane joined Bayern Munich to increase his chances of winning trophies. But his first
season in Bavaria could not have started on a worse note. His debut match was in the German
Super Cup, which Bayern lost 3-0. His second trophy, shot at Bayern Munich,
was the league title. Bayern had won the previous 12 league titles in a row.
And it was a certainty that Kane was going to win the first trophy in his career.
But for some reason, Bayer Leverkusen decided to have one of the most remarkable seasons
in football history. Kane could not believe his luck.
I mean, at this point, you've just got to feel bad for the guy.
And now, the Euro 2024 final. Kane had a rough tournament, was widely criticised,
and many fans called for him to be dropped. He looked off the pace, and in a way,
hindered the attack. And to be very frank, England looked their best when Kane was off the pitch.
They scraped their way to the Euro final and lost to Spain. This was Kane's 10th direct
attempt at a trophy. Is Harry Kane cursed? The evidence is pretty convincing.
