This guy just convinced me to try the balut, which is the fertilized egg.
Well, you can see it's little feet and everything.
It's a little sad.
Welcome back to another Philippines video, you guys.
Today, I'm super excited. We're exploring the southern part of the island of Cebu.
I'm actually heading up to one of the hidden gems, I believe. It's called Osmeña Peak.
Now, Philippines gets all the hype about the chocolate hills, but I feel like this spot's even prettier.
For the first part of the video, Sammy's not going to be joining me.
It is a long ride up there. I think it's about two hours from where we're staying at.
And her back does not handle the scooters well anymore.
Let's head up there. I promise it's going to be worth it.
The views look absolutely spectacular. I can't wait to show you guys.
Can you tell me how to get to Osmeña Peak?
Then up.
How far is it?
It's far.
Like an hour or more?
One hour.
I better get going. Thank you.
Osmeña Peak?
Okay, we're on the way.
What's up, guys?
We're officially on top and the landscape here is amazing.
Everything is so green.
Everybody's waving below.
Hello!
So, two and a half hours later, finally made it up here.
It is so worth it. It is so beautiful.
So, I'm staying in a little cabin.
I think it's hidden right over there.
But I met the guy to check me in.
He met me at this little bistro. I'm going to order dinner first.
And then head over and check it out.
I made it just before sunset. The sun's just going down.
But the landscapes here are so beautiful.
Everything is so green. The drive up here was so amazing, too.
So many greetings. So many friendly people waving.
It's a little chilly up here.
I'm glad I brought a sweatshirt.
I just got my dinner, which looks amazing.
The very sweet waitress here recommended it.
Check that out. We got some rice.
I believe this is pork belly, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, the pork belly. That looks good.
We also got a lemonade.
My favorite part is they don't have any silverware.
So, I get to use my hands.
Which you guys know I always love doing.
It's okay. This is fine.
Thank you, though.
I appreciate it.
Everybody is so sweet.
My timing is pretty awesome, too.
The sunset is just going down.
It's going to be a great night and a very special morning, I hope.
If the weather holds.
I kind of feel bad. The guy showing me my room is waiting for me.
So, I'm going to scarf down really quick.
Oh, wow. That's so good.
Yes. So tender. So much flavor.
With this view.
And she brought me some hot tea, as well.
Yeah, that's good.
Sweet. Thank you so much.
See you in the morning.
What a beautiful sunset spot.
Just finished dinner.
This gentleman was waiting for me.
He just let me hop on the back of his motorbike.
He brought me up to this house.
And I'm staying right up above there.
In that tiny little cabin.
I think it's like a five-minute walk from the top of Osmania Peak.
All right. He's taking me up top to the peak right now.
Which is nice.
He's giving me the full tour.
Richie came through with a red horse for me.
Thank you, my man.
This is the top, huh?
Views everywhere, don't you?
Carry me up here.
So, this is my cozy little cabin for the night.
Richie was so kind to show me the viewpoint.
He runs the store up there.
So, I'll see him bright and early.
He said, hopefully, he can be my tour guide tomorrow.
And show me the best spots.
Let's hope for no rain, though.
And not super cloudy.
Wow, I can barely talk.
I'm so tired.
It's been a long day.
Amazing day, though.
Such a great drive.
I miss you, Sammy. I love you.
Wish you were here with me.
That's it, you guys. Good night.
See you bright and early for, hopefully, an epic sunrise.
Good night.
Good morning, you guys.
So, I woke up at 5am.
It was pitch black. It was actually a little bit clearer.
You could see the stars.
A tiny bit peeking through.
And I set up my tripod.
Got on top of the peak.
And ever since then, it's like this.
So, I'm just going to wait it out for a while.
Hopefully, it clears up.
It doesn't look like it's going to happen.
But, fingers crossed.
Just waiting for Richie,
my friend from last night, to open up his store
so I can buy coffee.
Because it's pretty chilly this morning.
I can't remember the last time I was wearing this many layers.
That catches you up.
It's supposed to be an epic view.
You can only see about 15 feet away.
Alright, it only took 3 hours,
but it is finally clear.
Check out this amazing view.
It is spectacular. Worth the wait.
And we're at the whole class here.
Check out everybody.
What are we trying?
This is Pinoy balut.
Inside the egg,
it's a duck.
Do you guys like it?
I don't like it.
It's a fertilized duck egg.
Fertilized duck egg.
I'll try one.
Do you like it?
Yes.
Okay.
It's warm still.
Did you just boil it?
Yes.
This guy just convinced me
to try the balut.
Which is the fertilized egg.
You choose one.
Which one is less intense?
It's a balut egg.
It's a duck.
What's the traditional?
It's a duck.
You try a duck.
That's the most challenging one.
Oh, it's more challenging?
It's also a right passage.
You try.
And this is a sauce.
Oh, I'm not sure about this.
Wait, wait, wait.
It's a salt.
Okay.
You sip.
Just a juice.
Okay.
What do you feel?
What do you taste?
Spicy and salty is all it is right now.
Spicy, sweet?
I'm worried about what's under this.
Okay.
You try this one, sir.
It doesn't look as appetizing anymore.
Yes.
This is okay to eat?
It's okay.
Do I just eat the whole thing at once?
Yes.
You can see it's little feet and everything.
It's a little sad.
Oh, man.
I'm not sure about this.
Go, go.
Wait, wait, wait.
Go, go.
Game, game, game.
It tastes pretty good.
It's just so scary to look at it.
Yes.
That's another one. It's a boiled egg.
No chicken, no duck.
What's inside this one?
Inside this one,
boiled eggs are natural.
It's still fertilized.
I think it's just the first week after fertilization.
So we call it penoy.
How about the first one? What was that? Come on over here with me.
Help me. Come on. Get in here, bro.
You're the explanation man.
So the difference between the first one I ate
and this one.
That was 16 weeks after fertilization.
This one is, I think,
it's one or two weeks after.
Oh, okay. So that makes it easier.
Yeah, that makes it easier.
Because you don't have to actually see it, right?
But there's a couple of veins there.
You're still like,
it's not my favorite.
That looks a little creamy.
Sure?
I don't want to steal your snack.
Thank you. Thank you, my man. Thank you, guys.
You bite.
This is the next one.
It's a boiled egg.
This is penoy.
This is much better.
It's like a good egg.
It's an egg, right?
Can I get some more sauce?
The sauce is so good. What's the sauce?
It's a vinegar
and spicy chilies.
Well, thank you for breakfast.
It's all game, sir.
They both tasted well.
It's just hard to get over
seeing the little animals' legs and everything,
but it tasted great.
People were so sweet.
They gave me a Kit-Kat because they're like,
you're going to need something after that.
They said it's a rite of passage,
so breakfast champions with an amazing view.
Okay. Thank you so much.
Oh, nice. Thank you.
Okay.
Well, the day ended up so beautiful.
Met so many new friends
and got to try two of the things we didn't try on our food tour.
Tammy's going to be so disappointed
she couldn't try them.
Not really, but how epic is this spot up here?
The 360 views on top of this peak
are surreal.
Oh, what an awesome time.
I'm going to show you guys my cabin I stayed at last night
because it was too dark by the time I checked in to show you.
And then we're going to head back.
So that's the little cabin I stayed at last night.
And Osmania Peak is right up there.
Just a five-minute walk, which is super convenient.
What's up, man?
How you doing?
I didn't see you up there.
Were you late today?
Oh, you got to sleep in a little bit.
Nice, bro. Nice.
You got a coffee for me?
Yeah.
Alright. Thank you, Richie.
Back with Richie again.
Finally got my coffee.
A banana would be great.
Coffee and a banana.
Alright. Time to start shedding.
It's not super cold anymore.
Alright, Richie. Hey.
Thank you, my man. Pleasure meeting you. Thanks for everything.
I appreciate you, man.
Don't work too hard today.
Good luck to you and the family and the son.
See you next time.
Yes. Thank you again, brother.
See you.
My cute little cabin.
Goodbye, little cabin.
You were great for the night.
I just met a new friend, though.
He's harvesting strawberries right now.
Hopefully, I can try some of those fresh strawberries.
What was your name again?
I love it. It's so clear now.
You can see, actually, the ocean.
Be careful. It's dangerous.
Dangerous? What's dangerous?
It is so hard. Hazard.
Oh, hazard.
Alright. Let's see this.
Alright. Check out this little guy he found me.
Wild strawberry.
Wow.
A little sour. Good, though.
Found a big one?
That one's a big one, huh?
You pick up this.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah. Look at how pretty that is.
That's good, brother.
Thank you, my man. Wow. That's tasty.
Thank you for the strawberries. It was nice to meet you.
Good luck with your harvest, huh?
See you later.
Gotta be careful. It rained last night.
So, it's a little slippery today.
This place is so hard to leave.
Look how beautiful it is.
That kid was so sweet. He's like,
Be careful.
Have a nice day, bro.
You too, Romanik. Have a good day, bro.
Bye-bye.
Look at all those cabbages. Holy smokes.
They look good.
Oh, boy. Another person.
Still wildin'.
Wow. You don't see that every day.
That guy had so much weight of cabbages on the back.
He could barely get going.
He told his friend, Hop in the front.
So, two of them took off this huge hill.
And it's a steep hill, too.
The two sweetest girls work here.
Make sure you guys stop at the
Patim's Bistro.
Perfect. Alright. Thank you guys for everything.
You guys are very sweet.
Enjoy your vacation. Take care.
Perfect, you guys. Thanks so much.
I could hang out here a lot more. Hopefully, I'll be back one day.
Thanks to all the locals for
making my day so special.
Alright. 3 hours. Let's do it.
Can you guys believe
these views? This is unbelievable.
I'm so glad I got some tips from locals.
How to get back. Taking the median road.
You can see so much of the island
up here. Wow.
Okay. So, that
drive was so much quicker than the first time.
Oh, my gosh. It saved me so much time.
It only took me like an hour and 15 minutes.
Such a beautiful drive on the way back, too.
Oh, my goodness.
What an awesome trip. Let's go find Sammy
and Eric and Sarah and see what they're up to.
You're home.
I made it. You made it.
How was it?
Oh, so fun. Yeah?
Oh. You miss me?
I missed you. You look a little
flushed. Did you wear sunscreen?
That's the first thing you say to me? Yeah.
Unbelievable.
Were you careful?
First thing,
Did you wear sunscreen?
I missed you. I love you. I missed you.
That's better. Yeah. How was it?
Awesome. Alright. It feels so great
to be back with Sammy and Eric and Sarah.
Our next activity for today, we're heading
south about an hour and a half to a
waterfall. I'm not going to try to pronounce the
name, but I'll insert it right here.
It looks super stunning.
Can't wait to show you guys.
We came here at the end of the day, so definitely
we were rushing here, trying to get here
before sunset. Didn't expect much,
but this is definitely top
five favorite waterfalls for me.
Just the power of the water coming
over and being able to swim right up to it and like the
wind and the water rushing in your face.
And it's so blue. This is
definitely worth a stop
in Southeastern. Definitely come here if you
come to Mobile.
Our amazing tour guides. Thank you guys.
So another activity you can't
miss while you're here is snorkeling or diving
with the sardines. So I'm
very plugged up, if you can't hear me, so I
cannot equalize right now, so I can't
actually dive down, but
if you guys go check out Eric and Sarah's channel,
they went and explored it and it looks absolutely
fantastic. So go to their channel,
check that out to see exactly what
you do. Before we head to our last activity, I want
to show you guys where we've been staying. We were staying
between Mobile and Badian at a place called
Escapo Verde. It is located in a
coastal forest inside these mangroves, which makes
it very private. It's so nice to be
out in nature, to have space to walk around,
see all the different types of birds,
hang out in the bay,
and end every day watching sunset.
We stayed in a small cottage for only
$44 a night and there's also a restaurant
on site. Our last activity
is the famous canyoneering to
Kawasan Falls.
It was such an intense
adventure that combines natural beauty
and adrenaline canyoneering.
It showcases beautiful waterfalls
sat in a lush tropical jungle.
The water is that Gatorade blue
and the highlight is all the different levels
of cliff jumps throughout the canyon.
Another one!
Woo! We got unlucky
with the weather where it rained a lot, but that didn't
stop us from having the best time. We started
as early as possible, which was definitely
worth it because we had no lines and were
swimming and walking mostly by ourselves
the majority of the tour. We had
fantastic guides who were very knowledgeable
and also so much fun. The cost of the canyoneering,
including a wonderful lunch, was
2,000 pesos a person.
What an amazing tour. The guides were spectacular.
They do everything for you.
As Sammy just said though, it's all about the nature.
I feel like I'm in a movie
with this jungle. Everywhere you look up
you have all the trees hanging over, you have the
turquoise water and waterfalls
like these. And me
and you!
