Pinduoduo has been accused.
Arkansas Supreme Prosecutor's Office warned that
Americans should be wary of using Tim app
because its real purpose is to steal data.
Arkansas Chief Prosecutor Tim Griffin
also told Fox Business on Tuesday
that the threat from China is not new,
but a real existence.
Tim is not a online market like Amazon or Walmart,
but a company that uses sales products
as a means to steal data.
A week ago, Griffin's office filed a lawsuit against Tim.
He said,
a online mall like Amazon or Walmart
collecting some consumer data is part of a normal business.
It's very common.
I think we all know that Tim's thing is not like that.
Griffin said,
Tim is not just collecting traditional consumer data,
but using malicious software and spy software
to get all your information.
Not only that,
their code editing can avoid detection.
He said,
Tim is operated by a parent company in Shanghai, China,
Pinduoduo.
One of the employees is a former CCP official.
The lawsuit filed against the company's parent company
requires the jury to be tried
and Tim's data collection activities are permanently banned.
The lawsuit also requires
a $10,000 fine for violation of Arkansas' Law of Deception.
The lawsuit mainly cited
Grizzly Research's research report,
which included Tim's purposeful
and unrestricted access to users' mobile phone operating systems,
including but not limited to
users' cameras,
location,
contacts,
text messages,
documents,
and other applications.
Grizzly Research's report said,
the company suspects Tim has or plans to
illegally sell data stolen from Western clients
The report pointed out,
it is estimated that every order of Tim's
is worth $30.
His advertising expenses and shipping costs
from China to the U.S.
for one to two weeks
are all astronomical figures.
The report pointed out,
people keep asking,
how can this kind of business make a profit?
In the same industry,
Tim is a notorious bad actor.
What we see is that his crazy operating users
use a chain-link fraud to promote registration.
In general,
they use the most rampant and problematic technology
to manipulate a large number of people
to install their applications.
Tim made a statement after being brought to trial,
saying he was very disappointed
and that no independent investigation was introduced
Data shows that
Tim is the largest shopping app
The download volume exceeds 3.3 billion times,
which is 1.8 times that of Amazon shopping apps.
On July 1,
the Texas Public Policy Foundation
also issued a similar warning
saying that you can visit almost anything on your phone.
This means that CCP officials
can theoretically install applications
and spy software on personal smart devices
to fully monitor all user activities on their phones.
The Foundation warned that
this would allow the CCP to monitor keyboard inputs and logins,
directly obtain logins for other social media,
e-mails and bank accounts.
Tim's officials have not yet responded
to the Daily Epoch Times' request for comment.
