
The Son of the Buddha Ven Rāhula Sangha Recollection Early Buddhism.
The Buddha's own son also became one of his great awakened disciples. He was the Buddha's disciple foremost in being keen to train himself - in following the instructions that the Buddha gave him.
At age 29 the Bodhisatta - who was the crown prince of the kindom of the Sakyans - left behind his family and wealth behind to embark on the noble search: To search for a peace and liberation beyond birth, ageing and death, defilement and all conditions. At that time he also left behind his newborn son, Rāhula and his wife, Yasodharā.
Seven years later the Bodhisatta realized the unsurpassable supreme awakening and become the perfectly awakened on - the Buddha. A few years after his awakening, when the Buddha was already the most famous religious teacher in India with the largest following he returned to his home city of Kapilavatthu to teach his family and relatives.
