We leave the region of the Al Wahda dam, heading south, to discover our first experience of Workaway in Morocco. At 3 p.m., we arrive in the town of Ain Taoujdate. Mohamed and Abdel Quadere are there to welcome us and show us around the property, the gardens and introduce us to the many animals of this enchanted farm. During this week, we will mainly work in the garden. We start by building a giant bin to hold the compost. We will also try our hand at landscaping by planting many plants and taking care of the decoration of the gardens. Paintings, landscaping, weeds, diseased cacti etc. One day, Bob returns to the farm overjoyed, he has just found a Renault 4L in great condition for 400 euros! We are very surprised to discover how different the gear change is than on our recent cars. Thursday is market day in Ain Taoujdate. Once our fruit and vegetable purchases are made, we continue the day by exploring the city of Fez. When entering a clothing store, we find a staircase at the back of the store that we take. We climb a few floors and here we are in the first lodge of the famous open-air tannery of Fez. From Fez, we go around the city by the heights to try to find the official spot where the ceramics are made. Finally, after a week we decide to do our business for fear of taking Roots in this eponymous farm. Life is good when you manage to get out of the financial world to return to barter and the exchange of services. We are happy with this balance that we manage to create over time and which allows us to travel for a long time in another system at a lower cost. Random encounters and the resulting learning are a great way to grow and flourish in this vast world.
