In understanding the new direction of cooperation between the United States and Africa,
the Philippine Ambassador to the United States warned that
the conflict between the CCP and the Philippines in the South China Sea
is likely to trigger a conflict in the Indo-Pacific,
which is even more worrisome.
At the same time, he also pointed out that
if the Taiwan Strait War breaks out and attacks Africa,
the Philippines may allow the US military to use the African base to defend Taiwan during the war.
The Philippine Ambassador to the United States,
Romo Ades, warned in an interview with the Financial Times
that the conflict with the CCP in the South China Sea
is likely to trigger a conflict in the Indo-Pacific,
which is likely to trigger a conflict in the Indo-Pacific,
Romo Ades said,
this is the most dangerous moment.
Large-scale lethal weapons are a very real threat.
There are several countries and powers with huge nuclear arsenal.
The Philippines has long used the landing ship of World War II,
the Madeleine-3, in the South China Sea.
Recently, it has become a hot spot for the conflict with the CCP.
On the 17th, Chinese seamen
stopped Philippine Navy shipments of supplies
to the landing team on the ship.
As the conflict escalates in the South China Sea,
the United States is striving to strengthen the Indo-Pacific region alliance.
Last year, the Philippines added four domestic military bases for the US military to use.
However, the Manila authorities have not yet shown
whether the United States can use these bases
Romo Ades pointed out that the US military can use the Philippine military base
not to launch an offensive.
However, he also mentioned that Manila may allow the US military
to temporarily use these bases.
Romo Ades said,
if our defense agencies believe that
because we will be affected by war,
it is possible for the US military to use those locations to surround Taiwan,
then we will probably agree.
He added,
I hope this never happens.
But if it happens,
a country like the Philippines
will obviously play a role in the Asian battlefield.
In addition, Romo Ades warned
that the CCP's actions around the disputed island
are testing the U.S.'s determination,
and that the Non-U.S. Joint Defense Treaty is a serious agreement.
The CCP should not treat it lightly.
However, Romo Ades refused to clarify
what will trigger the Joint Defense Treaty,
but said that the Philippines and the United States
have already discussed relevant options.
Before the latest conflict broke out in Central Africa on June 17,
Romo Ades had warned human rights activists
Because although the Haiya Long-Term Court of Arbitration
ruled in 2016 that the CCP's nine-stage line of assertion was invalid,
Beijing claimed to have most of the sovereignty of the South China Sea.
