What We Are - Behind the Lyrics

[Music] i had two weeks to write the lyrics for the belladonna theme song i wasted a week not working on it at all so here i am trying to condense the entire three book story into a single theme song um words and phrases that i want in the song let's see underground poison maybe stars the sky leaves with us would be a cool thing to add in there somewhere because that's also a important phrase in the book and it's a very sentimental phrase to me because it was the name of the original story idea i had when i was really young i decided that this song is going to be a waltz so i'm going to set garageband to 3 4 and i'm going to play a what we metronome i think it works and if it's really okay got it got it what we are okay i don't know if that's a verse or a chorus but it's going somewhere somewhere now i don't know what to do hi it is 1am on may 14th and i'm finally sending in my lyrics i will admit it was a lot harder than i thought i'm gonna send it in right now i just listened to the song that james composed and oh my goodness i'm honestly so blown away right now i had no no expectation going into this so this was so cool and i love how it turned out i'm really excited it's perfect [Music] how did we get here something went wrong we worked hard for this life that we don't want at all for the gold and the comfort we traded our souls now we live in a world owned by nightmares and fools when we were younger life was too dark we did everything we could to get a head start for the light that we dreamed we gave up our hearts now we poison our eyes to blur the pain we cause if it's really true that the sky weeps with us if it's really true [Music] that maybe if we smile we can cheer the stormy weather we can fix the world together and remember what we are what we are now that we're older life is too bright we achieved every dream in a very short time but not long from today we'll rest underground so we shame our success while we stare at clouds if it's really true that the sky weeps with us if it's really true [Music] and remember what we are what we are if it's really true if it's really true if it's really true if it's really true you
