I can't say enough how friendly the Filipino people are.
Hi!
How you guys doing?
What's up man?
You got a beautiful family.
Thank you.
It's really just so heartwarming and sweet.
It's beautiful.
The beans actually pretty good there.
Look at that rice.
Love this.
It's not too spicy is it?
Yeah.
Not on the side.
That's smart.
What?
Spicy.
Skylip.
Skylip madama.
I actually don't know if I'm going to like this.
Welcome back to Manila you guys.
Today we are super excited.
We're exploring the Ugbo Market.
So when I was walking around in our first video, I asked a few locals what's the one thing
we have to do here in Manila.
And they said you have to go to Ugbo Market to try the street food.
And that's exactly what we're doing today.
So we did a little bit of research on the things we wanted to try.
And I feel like it's going to be a more adventurous food tour because some of the items were like
intestines, chicken feet, quail eggs.
So it's a little bit outside of our comfort zone.
I'm definitely going to have to get Tommy to try a few of these things.
Is that squid?
Squid, sir.
Wow, looks good, man.
Mark.
Mark, nice to meet you.
What's up, man?
I like your jersey, dude.
It's really interesting because I've never, in all the countries that we've filmed in,
people look or they're curious or they'll be like, what are you filming for?
But in the Philippines, everyone is so, they love the camera.
Or they'll be like, take my photo.
Or what's your name?
Or what's your channel name?
We've never experienced that before.
Oh, we're getting subscribers like wildfire.
Wildfire.
All right, found our first one.
Why are you going in for something so adventurous first thing?
Let's do it.
Hello.
Is it okay if I film?
Yes.
Yeah, okay, sweet.
What is this?
Chicken intestines.
And how do you pronounce it?
Isaw?
Yeah.
Isaw.
Okay, cool.
Yeah, we'll try a little bit of that, please.
It kind of looks like worms.
Yeah, it looks like worms.
Do you like it?
Yeah.
Is it good?
It's good.
Okay.
Wait, you're not trying this?
It might be a little too adventurous for me.
Okay.
It might be a little too adventurous.
You can just charge me for more and give me a little bit.
That's okay.
If you don't want it, just give it to us.
And we'll eat it.
For sure, mine.
Oh, yeah, sure.
Yeah, we'll try it.
Chili garlic oil, sir.
Please.
Yeah, that sounds good.
It's not too spicy, is it?
Yeah.
Okay.
On the side, that's smart.
Yeah, good call.
So we're going to try these pork dumplings.
It's with chili oil, lime, and soy sauce.
First thing, how is it?
It's really good.
Yeah?
It's good.
I should have taken two bites almost off myself.
The chili oil, the lime, and the soy sauce, that's delicious.
It's really good.
Good start.
Yeah, it's a good start.
So I was asking her what else we should eat here.
She said definitely Halo Halo and just order it normally.
She said it's somewhere down that way.
Spicy.
A little spicy, yes.
Shake it up.
Thank you.
So I just eat it with my hands?
Yeah.
Yeah?
No, no, no.
You should dip it in there.
Oh, dip it in there.
Okay, cool.
What's the sauce?
It's a vinegar.
Vinegar, okay, cool.
Okay, you just fry these up and you dip them in a vinegar sauce.
That's amazing.
It's also served with green onions it looks like.
How is it?
It's good.
Yeah, it's very good.
It's better than Isaw.
It looks scary, but it tastes really good.
So Isaw actually dates back to the 1970s.
It's a little smoky.
It's like a tangy kick.
Way better than I thought.
Yeah, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for all the help.
Enjoy your night.
Slightly spicy.
Perfect.
I'll try those.
What are you trying?
So it sounds like a jalapeno popper, but the Filipino version.
And what was your name, ma'am?
Heidi.
Nice to meet you, Heidi.
That's sweet of you.
Thank you.
All right, those look delicious.
These do look delicious.
Oh, it's kind of hot.
I think I should wait a second.
I really think I'm going to burn my mouth if I go for this.
You're going to go for it anyway?
I know.
I can't wait.
Okay, a pepper stuffed with cheese wrapped in a crispy wonton wrapper.
What's the name?
Dynamite.
That crunch sounded nice.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, my.
Hey.
That's spicy.
Yeah?
It's good.
It's more than a little spicy, though.
It's a lot spicy?
It's a lot spicy, which I love.
She said it was a little spicy.
This is so good.
So they have the little stems at the end, so they look like little sticks of dynamite.
So I read that the cheese was supposed to like mellow out the spiciness.
That is not the case.
My lips is like an inferno going on over here.
But you can't stop.
It's like addicting.
The spice is addicting.
I just had my first bite.
Sammy wasn't lying.
You see the bead of sweat dripping down my forehead.
Amazing, though.
So delicious.
Wow.
So addictive.
I can't stop myself.
Thank you so much, ma'am.
Have a good night.
Thank you.
That's so cute, you guys.
Beautiful family.
Thank you.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Have fun here in the Philippines.
Thank you.
Beautiful smile.
Thank you.
We got here probably like 5.20.
It's around 6 right now.
And shoulder to shoulder people.
We heard that it gets pretty busy, so we tried to get here like right at the start.
And we wanted to beat the rush hour traffic.
It didn't work out traffic wise for us.
That's okay.
That traffic was a little bit crazy.
It's kind of interesting in Manila, where we're staying at Mandaluyong and north of Macon.
It's only 9 kilometers to get over here.
But it took us an hour and 10 minutes because of traffic.
It is.
Isn't that wild?
It is.
But we made it.
I need some food.
My legs are numb from sitting in the car.
What's your name?
Jessica.
What is it?
Jesse.
Nice to meet you, man.
I think we'll try the beef Wagyu.
Are those good?
Yeah.
What's the best?
Bacon and cheese.
The bacon and cheese.
Interesting.
Too much.
It's so cute.
So what are the different sauces?
Spicy, honey mustard, garlic mayo.
Okay.
That looks so good.
Work it out first.
So tender and delicious.
Barber's vlogging.
Sorry.
Hi, bro.
What up, man?
How you doing?
That's really good.
Super tender and juicy.
I ate it with a little bit of the green onion.
It gives it that nice herby bite.
It's pretty good.
I like it.
I like your hat, man.
Thank you.
Oh, that's so impressive, dude.
Wow.
What's your name?
Gina.
Nice to meet you, man.
He's talented, huh?
Be careful.
Can you do it?
No.
Me neither, man.
That's scary.
Good job, bro.
You're like a gymnast.
That little kid had hops.
That little kid made me nervous.
Wow.
Just do a standing backflip.
It's like he's an NFL football player or something.
Wow.
We did multiple.
Yeah.
I missed it the first time on the camera.
I was like, please don't hurt yourself.
But he had it down.
He knew what he was doing.
That was impressive.
What is this?
Shumai, right?
Tomato pork, ma'am.
Shumai.
This one.
So what's the best, man?
Beef.
The beef?
Yes.
150 pesos only.
How long have you been cooking like this?
Three years.
Three years?
Wow.
For the show, too.
Thank you, guys.
We really appreciate it.
Thank you.
Have a good time.
Hey, thank you.
You, too.
That little area over there got so busy.
He started cooking up that rice, and everybody started gathering around like that huge fire.
They should.
It's a show.
I know.
And then he started cooking it, and y'all, rice is my favorite thing.
And that fried rice.
I was like, I know this is going to be my favorite thing I eat today.
Look at that rice.
They also have so many different toppings.
You can get it with like beef, pork, mix, veggies.
That is just like savory, salty, comfort food to the max.
The rice is so perfectly cooked, and it's like a little bit oily with the egg and then the beef on top.
Love this.
After all that savory and spicy food, I think I need to cool down and get a fresh fruit smoothie.
Does that sound good?
I need something sweet and a little bit lighter.
Sounds good.
Okay, you talk me into it.
Is it okay if I film?
Is that possible?
Okay, sweet.
What's your names?
CG.
What is it?
CG.
Nice to meet you.
And you?
Mallory.
Nice to meet you guys.
All right, which one's the best?
Avocado.
Avocado's the best.
Is that what you want?
No, I think I'm going to do with the honeydew.
And I'll do the avocado.
So one of each.
We can share, right?
Yeah.
I like your jersey, bro.
Kobe Bryant.
That's sweet, man.
I like it.
Yes, Master Daniel Cheese Guy.
You got the call down.
It worked on us, so it's working.
Yes.
Take this one.
It's a J, guys.
Yes, Master Daniel Cheese Guy process.
How long have you...
Two years, no?
Two years.
Do you like it?
Yes.
Business is good?
Good, good.
Master Daniel Cheese Guy process.
Have a good night.
Thank you so much.
So good.
So icy and delicious.
I told her just a little bit sweet because I saw how much sugar was in Sammy's and condensed
milk, so I was like, oh, just a little bit of that.
So refreshing and perfect.
Sorry, mine's a little better.
I know.
I'm getting so full.
Let's go sit somewhere and take a little refresh.
It's so sweet.
It's so cute.
The little girl said, can I have a hug?
Duh.
I can't say enough how friendly the Filipino people are, but also they love the camera.
I feel like every single one of our videos is just going to be a bunch of kids running
after us.
Hello, hello, hello.
Where are you from?
It's really just so heartwarming and sweet.
They are.
So sweet.
Beautiful people, too.
Oh, my gosh.
Everyone is so beautiful with big, bright smiles.
Atima.
That's a pretty name.
Nice to meet you.
My name's Sammy.
How old are you?
What's your name?
I'm eight years old.
Eight years old.
Nice.
Very nice.
Are you in school?
Yes.
What grade are you in?
Three.
Okay, good.
So you go to school.
What's up, man?
What's up?
Hi.
How you guys doing?
What's up, man?
How you doing?
I like your shirt.
Batman, huh?
What's up, man?
Sweet bike, bro.
There we go.
That was the little girl that asked me for a hug.
She came back, and I think she just wanted to practice her English.
She was like, can we be friends?
So we had a little conversation.
So sweet.
But yeah, a line of kids trailing behind us.
How you doing?
Hello.
Bye.
So this is shaved ice and has ice cream on it.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, I understand.
Okay, well, we'll try that one.
That's what it's like.
Second sweet treat of the night.
We have it.
We're going to try the famous Filipino dessert, Halo-Halo.
Like three different people in the street told us to come down here and try it.
So here we are.
So it was pretty cool.
I got to watch them make it.
And they take these huge ice cubes, and they have to pick them apart.
And then the guy has, like, a very interesting device.
In the beginning, I was like, what's he doing?
He's just, like, shaving nothing, right?
He shaves it, and it flexes this little thing, and then he dumps it out in your cup.
So a pretty clever way to make the shaved ice.
I'm so glad she offered for us to come inside because it is so hectic out there.
And I think we both kind of needed a break from all of the hustle and bustle.
But so many people told us to come try this.
It's the famous Filipino dessert.
Oh, gosh.
It's called Halo-Halo.
We got the one with strawberry ice cream on top.
Strawberry?
Oh, very cool.
There's flan.
The purple stuff is ube, which we've never had that before.
I think ube is purple yam.
Is that what ube is?
I don't know that we've ever had that before.
I see a lot of different things with it, but we've never gotten the chance to try it.
What's your name, man?
Iva.
Nice to meet you, Iva.
It's beautiful.
I see white beans in there, too.
I thought there might be some beans.
That's delicious.
It's so sweet.
I think I really need to mix it around.
Halo-Halo means mixed or mix-mix.
So I'm assuming you mix it.
To be honest, it really hurts my teeth because every item in here is very frozen,
and my teeth get really sensitive when I bite into the ice cream.
The taste is there for me, but I have to let it melt in my mouth.
Alright, first bite.
I can't believe there's beans in here.
So interesting.
It's a very pretty dish, though.
The beans are actually pretty good there.
I think so, too.
I like it.
I did not expect that.
Very sweet, super cool.
Perfect to cool down on this hot day.
Hot night, I should say.
Get down there with the good stuff.
The plant's like a caramel flavor.
It's really good in there, too.
So it's been a while since we've done a street food market here in Asia,
and I think we overestimated the amount of food we could eat
because we are getting so full.
Typically, we like doing food tours with a local
because number one, they know all the spots to bring you,
and number two, they usually give you small bites
and you don't have to buy the entire portion.
So for us to come to a market and just be like,
We have this list of foods we want to try,
and they're giving us these huge portions.
We are stuffed.
So Sammy's pretty upset.
They don't have Adidas, which are chicken feet here,
which the name is pretty clever because the chicken feet have three.
Just like the Adidas has three stripes.
Three little toes.
I'm really upset about that one.
But there's also another dish.
I think it was called kwek-kwek, which is like a fried quail egg.
I actually really did want to try that one,
and this market doesn't have it,
so I'll have to try that before we leave the Philippines.
But, you know, it's okay because we are stuffed.
We've been eating so much,
and we still have a little bit of rice to take home.
What's up, guys?
Everybody's so friendly.
So friendly.
Great atmosphere in this market, that's for sure.
We are going to try one more thing.
It's a buttered garlic grilled scallop.
A mouthful for sure.
All right, looks good.
Thank you.
I actually don't know if I'm going to like this.
I'm nervous.
It smells really good.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, and that chili.
You're going to love these.
Yeah, they're good.
We could have gotten a few more, actually.
Bottoms up.
Oh, that's spicy.
Very spicy.
So good, though.
It's a great mixture with that garlic and butter, though.
So good.
It's delicious.
So good.
Thank you.
That's delicious.
The spice.
Wow.
What a super fun night market here.
Please let us know any dishes we missed or anything else we need to try while we're in the Philippines.
We appreciate you guys watching.
Thank you all.
Thank you all the locals for being so friendly and welcoming.
See you guys in the next video.
