Welcome to Manila you guys. We are super excited to be here for the first time.
Look how beautiful this place is. We're staying right by the river between the neighborhoods of
Makati and Mandaluyong. Our place is actually right up there, one of the big buildings.
Today we're going to give you our first impressions of the city. First thing I
want to do is just walk around this local neighborhood and maybe grab something to eat
or drink. So we've been to the Philippines before but this is actually our first time
in Manila. So last time we came here a few years ago we went straight to Palawan, did El Nido,
and you know all the beaches and things like that. But we're really excited to be in Manila.
We're going to explore a little bit, get a feel for the city. It feels really good to be back in
Asia. Ripping off the band-aid for the first video that we're filming of 2024. We took a couple
months off for Christmas and New Year's and yeah it feels good to be back filming in Asia, making
new videos, new year. I love it. Uh-oh, we got some kids lighting off firecrackers. Run! Oh,
I knew it was going to go off when we least expected it to.
Oh my gosh, he just threw another one down. Little kids creating mischief already today.
You remember those vehicles? I know, the jeepneys. We took them whenever we were in Palawan. We
haven't taken one in Manila yet. Looks like we have a school right next to our place. The kids
are super cute. They just gave us a very warm welcome. Welcome to Manila! People here so far
have been extraordinary friendly. Everybody's greeting you with smiles and everything. Just like
this, what's up guys, how we doing? Just like that. That's perfect. Thank you. Thank you,
I appreciate it. Have a good day. Have a good day. Perfect, thank you sir. Beautiful family,
you share it with.
He's bringing you business.
It's Sammy and Tommy, what's up? We have a mango with salt.
I already subscribed you. Thank you, he said he'll subscribe to us. I appreciate it man.
Where are you from? Where do you think? Mexico. Mexico? Germany. Germany, no. Australia.
You were right, you're the winner.
Spicy salt and mango, delicious. And how much did it cost you? It was 10 pesos.
Thank you guys, nice to meet you. Have a good day.
Wow, so much interaction with the locals already. All the kids are not shy on camera,
that's for sure. What's your name? Tommy. Tommy, what's your name? Gabriel. Gabriel,
nice to meet you man. What's your name? Our neighborhood is amazing. The kids just got out
of school, so many friendly greetings. Everybody walked by, they're always waving hello. We picked
the perfect time to go out and about. Everybody just got off of school. My mouth is on fire from
that mango. It was so yummy and tart, but all the kids were just like surrounding us. Anyway,
it was really good though. What's your names? I'm Luis. Luis, nice to meet you. Ariel. Nice to
meet you guys. You guys from Manila? Yeah, we're from here. Okay, from the street. Awesome you guys,
sweet. Well, don't work too hard today. Not busy, huh? Yeah, very cold weather. It's cold. I'm
sweating right now. For me, it's a cold weather. You're still wearing shorts though. What do you
guys recommend? It's our first time in Manila. What should we do if we're only here for a couple
days? Eat. Eat. We should go to cowboy and eat. Okay, we'll do that. Well, sweet guys. Nice to
meet you guys. Appreciate your time. Thank you. Have a good day guys. I love that nobody's camera
shot here. Everybody's like, get a shot of me, get a shot of me. One shot, one shot. It's really fun.
All right, this is perfect. A fresh coconut sounds delicious.
And how much is it, sir? 35. 35? Yeah. Okay, perfect. I appreciate it. Thank you. I could
easily have a fresh coconut like this every single day. Such a great way to hydrate too. It's funny,
the last two guys I talked to said it was so cold today. I'm like, man, I'm already sweating. I need
to hydrate. Thank you. Have a good day. For a couple dishes as we're walking around, we have
a list of foods to try, but hopefully we can find, I think it's called banana queue and turon.
It's supposed to be like good, like sweet street eats. So maybe we can find some of that. Okay,
we'll try it. We'll try it. I like the name Snoopy Doggy. Buy one, take one. Buy one, take one. Do
you want? No. This one. This one. Yeah, please. So they have some beef shawarma right here.
Spicy. Just a little bit spicy, please. Yeah, that'd be great. Melon. Melon? Yeah. What's this
one? What do you like the best? This one. Okay. I'll take one glass of that too.
So we just got called in through this restaurant. Everybody's super friendly. It's a family-run
place. They're all cousins. They have a lot of different choices though. So we got a
beef shawarma and it was only 65 pesos. And then we're also talked into getting this
melon juice. It looks amazing. I'm such an easy sell. Wow, that's so good and creamy. It reminds
me of like a creamsicle, but melon flavored. That was a good choice. The owner was right. Now we're
trying the Snoopy Doggy. Not going to be confused with Snoop Dogg, even though it looks like him
just a little bit. Oh yeah, this wrap is delicious. Hits the spot. I'm really hungry
for a dollar and 20 cents. The prices here seem super affordable and the quality is really good.
I love the sauce. Oh my gosh.
The beef is so crunchy and charred. That family was so sweet. Got them all in a picture together
The food though was amazing. We'll be back to that spot for sure.
What's up man? How you doing? I'm fine. You're fine? Yes. You're good? Were you guys going to
play some badminton? Yeah. Is there a court? No. No? You just playing for fun on the streets? Yes.
Okay, nice. Enjoy your day guys. Bye. See you later. So they have lots of interesting shops on
the street. We had the coconut stand, which just sold mostly coconuts. There was an egg shop.
There's a convenience store that's also a tattoo parlor. Very fun start.
Beautiful smile. I appreciate it. Thank you. Have a good day. You too.
Do you catch them from the river or the ocean? No, from the ocean. From the ocean. Okay, nice.
Sir, I appreciate that. Thank you, sir. Thank you. Have a great day, huh? All right,
what do we got here? Why don't you have the bananas? These ones we're looking for? I think so.
Is this banana Q? Yeah. Banana Q. How much is one? 20 pesos. 20 pesos. Do you want to try one? Yeah,
let's get one. Okay, perfect. We got dessert now. We have grilled bananas. Looks like it's
covered in sugar. Looks good. Oh yeah. It's so caramelized and crunchy on the outside.
This is perfect. This is a very typical street food here in the Philippines,
and you can see why. Who doesn't love bananas, especially crusted with sugar?
I got something in my teeth. Is that a good look?
This reminds me of a maduro in Costa Rica. It's not a dessert, it's for breakfast.
You put the plantains and you grill it in the pan with a little bit of brown sugar.
This is like very similar. I wonder if it's because it's like kind of like a Spanish dish,
like if there's some some kind of connection there. I'm sure there is. I should do some
googling. This is good. So we just walked down this smaller street off the main street. It's
pretty sweet. They have poultry on the left side. They have some fresh fruits and vegetables on the
right. It's like a little market street. Look, there's a little rooster. Oh, it's a little pet.
Is that your buddy or dinner?
What's his or her name? His name is Ego. Ego. Ego. Nice to meet you, Ego. And what's your name?
Pauly. Pauly. Nice to meet you, Pauly.
You guys playing some basketball, huh? Yes. Oh, count it from deep. Steph Curry over here, huh?
Oh, deep. Oh, count it. You guys got game.
Nice to meet you guys. See you later, brother. Nice to meet you, Spiderman. Yeah, bring it in,
dude. Enjoy your game. Our neighborhood has so many young kids. It's so fun. And like they're
all from school and like everyone's just like playing outside, eating food, like playing
basketball. It's just a really, really good atmosphere. It's a great spot. I know. I was
really afraid we were like outside of all the tourist stuff, but this is what we like anyway.
No kidding. Awesome, you guys. I appreciate it. That's perfect. I appreciate it. Is that your
rooster? Yes. Yes. It's a fighting rooster. Okay. Fighting rooster. Yeah. Are these all fighting?
Yeah, yeah. That's a winner. That's a winner. How often do you fight them? Every Sunday. Every
Sunday. I'm looking at these roosters a little bit differently now. They're used for cockfights.
I'm kind of scared of them now. We did not expect that, did we? No, I thought they were pets.
Watch out. I know. They might get you. Oh, that's cute. I like it. Thank you.
Oh, look at that smile. You're a model, bro.
So as we checked in last night, this place right here, which is the barbecue place,
was super busy. So I think we're going to have our dinner right now. It's pretty sweet. They
have all these laid out and you can pick and choose what they want. And then she goes and
grills it right on the grill. Yes, please. Right here. Yes, please. Oh my gosh. Look how delicious
this looks. Yes, that looks amazing. Okay. Our first Filipino barbecue. So the Philippines is
known for their barbecue. And after just doing that little loop, we just did all the, you know,
hustle and bustle. It's nice to come and sit down and have some barbecue. Look how good this
looks. Okay. Cover your eyes. Cover my, yeah, cover your eyes. Does that mean close my eyes
or cover my eyes? Cover them. Okay. Can you, can you cover them? You can't, you gotta cover your
eyes. What do you mean cover my eyes? All right. Like this? Thank you. Yeah, this one's good.
Everyone here is like, what are these people doing? So we got some barbecue pork skewers
and some barbecue chicken. It comes with a little lime and a chili pepper.
We got some rice. And it looks like some soup as well. Let's try this out first. Oh my goodness.
Yeah. This is amazing. I think it's like a chicken broth. It's super peppery though. We're huge fans
of peppery food. Can you hand me some silverware? The spoon's behind the camera. Oh, that's so good.
Tell me that's not amazing. That's amazing. Great start. Oh, it's super peppery.
That is delicious. Is that what you want? I just thought you'd pick it up and sip it.
I didn't know you needed a spoon to do this. Can we do the pork skewers? Yeah,
let's try the pork skewers out. Cheers. So the difference, I read online,
the difference between Filipino barbecue and American barbecue. I think American barbecue
is known for like dry rubs and Filipino barbecue. They like marinate their meat in like sauces for
hours. I feel like I'm going to be eating these pork skewers a lot. The charcoal is so nice and
crispy. That's way better than I thought it was going to be. It's like piece of fat on it. I don't
know if that's like for flavor to like drip down to the rest of the meat, but it's like all the
pork and then one piece of fat at the end. I don't know what's behind that, but I'll try it out. See
how it is. We also got some mango juice with it too. They have a canister over there. It looked
really good, so we had to order it. Wow, this is actually really delicious. This is so good too.
Oh, it tastes so fresh. Do you eat this part too? Yeah.
Thank you. You do eat that part. It's just fat though, right? Yeah, so much flavor. That's the
best part. Is it? Best for last. I don't know if I can eat that. Nice fatty, so much flavor.
Oh, last but not least, we got these guys, which I think are filled with pork. Do you remember what
she called this name again? I'll just insert the clip here. I think she told us. What are these
called? Pork shumhai. Pork shumhai, yeah. We'll do two of those, please. Two, yeah.
This is great. I feel like this is like dessert. It's a little sweet.
And last but not least is barbecue chicken.
That looks so good. Oh, I love barbecue. I feel like I'm gonna
eat very well here in the Philippines. This chicken's so good. Oh, this is hot.
Like, look how grilled this is. Look how char-grilled this is.
Is there anything better than barbecue chicken? Oh my gosh, that's amazing.
This is delicious.
Everything's so good.
This is for you guys. Thank you. Oh, thank you. Thank you for the delicious meal. We'll be back. So good.
So all that for only 300, which is six dollars. Wow, that's a feast for that much.
Beautiful, you guys. Thank you. What an amazing first day here in Manila. The local people are
so friendly and accommodating. Couldn't ask for a better start here. Super excited to show you
the rest of the series. Love you all. Thanks for watching. See you guys in the next video.
