Two moose a few yards from my house

It had long been my dream to see moose on my property. I'd already seen them a little further away, but only saw traces of their passage on my property. I even dreamed of seeing them from my bathtub: when I designed the plans for my house (built in 2021), I placed a window in front of the bathtub in the hope that one day I'd be able to see them from my bath.

In the end, I saw them from my bed! That morning, I had gone back to sleep instead of getting up, and I heard a rather loud noise in my sleep. Half asleep, I knew it could only be a fairly large animal, and I figured it was probably already too late to see it. Fortunately, I managed to wake up enough to open the curtain. It wasn't too difficult, as my bed is next to the window. First I saw the mother a few yards from the house. Then the baby appeared about a meter away. From then on, I wasn't sleepy at all. I came out of my room and watched for five long minutes as these two majestic animals took an interest in all my human scents: the barbecue, the chair I'd sat in the day before, the sticks I'd placed to indicate where I'd planted something. I could see by their traces that the mother had also been to see (or smell) my hammock.

I was really living a waking dream that morning.
