ATLÉTICO DE MADRID 2 - 0 VALENCIA CF | RESUMEN LALIGA EA SPORTS | J22 | 2023-2024

A loss at Mestalla in September was described by Simeone as the worst match of his 11 years in charge. Tonight, Atleti looked to atone, knowing that three points will lift them to third. And then, since he started training with the first team, he took his chance. Lino to Memphis. Unselfish! Griezmann denied. Best chance of the game so far, and Mamad Dashvili made the block. Memphis, fantastic. Because a striker in the box, normally, they are selfish. They go for goal. He saw Griezmann in a better position, and the pass was excellent. It was probably too high for him. Lino. Great ball. To Griezmann. It's only been half-saved. It's now cleared by Lopez. Well, now... Atleti's in the line-up for Atletico. And this is Samuel Lino, who very nearly made the most of some indecision there, to give his side the lead. Didn't he take it well? He gave it to Lino. He carried on his run. Pablo Barrios! It has just flashed wide. Koki didn't see him. No, he is. And Griezmann did see him. And Griezmann found him! And Lino has scored on the cusp of half-time! Valencia might have thought they were getting through to the break. Griezmann had other ideas. Taken by Molina. It is deep. Savage is there! Good save by Mamadashvili. Away by Mosquera. Only as far as Koki. Oh, what a ball. Exceptional. Brought down by Molina. Oh, wonderful goal! What a combination from Atleti! Memphis Dubai makes it 2-0. The technical quality from Koki was outstanding. Very well positioned, indeed, to extend. Look at that. Oh, that is special! Oh, onto the roof! Look at that. This is what I was talking about when I talk about Memphis being... Won by Guillemot. This is Lopez for Yaramchuk. And there is space. If he only had seen Javi Guerra. Molina, who has continued his run and has it from Llorente. And this is... Penalty. There is absolutely nothing, you see. A shake of the head. A change of the decision. No penalty. So, you were warned. Valencia looking to cut the deficit. And forcing Reynaldo into a challenge. They have won a corner. Antoine Griezmann. And it is, in the end, fairly comfortable for Mamadashvili. A game that Atleti deserve to win. Lots of chances in the second half. Good game management in the second 45 minutes. Three vital points for the Champions League change. But even for the title change. Why not? Don't write them off.
