I'm daydreaming like a mug, boy.
That's the second time.
I'm a daydreamer.
That's what I do, bro.
Yo, welcome back to another episode of FYI for Base, bro.
We got another reaction video for you guys.
You want to go ahead and explain the video, man?
Yeah.
Hey, before we do that, like, comment, subscribe, hit the notification bell.
This is a really interesting video because, again, we touch on all aspects of sports.
All aspects of sports.
And this is one right here that is going to explain autumn childhood fights.
Y'all might have been playing this game.
Only hit the game winner on you or you missed the game winner.
This is going to explain what was really going on.
And also, for anyone who plays 2K now, it might be some truth to why y'all rage, man.
The game might be rigged.
These games really might be rigged.
So, if it was happening back then, I know it's happening now.
But this has something to do with it's an all-time classic.
This probably goes down as the greatest NBA basketball game of all time, arguably.
It's NBA Jam, right?
One of a kind.
People have never been able to remake it successfully.
Like, the original game can't be topped.
A lot of these other games get remade.
They cannot remake this successfully.
But we're going to hear from one of the creators of NBA Jam.
He's going to tell you how they built in a defect or a cheat code
because of his biases towards a certain team.
The Bulls-Pistons rivalry in the 90s was intense.
Players called each other out.
Games became very physical.
And the team's respective fan bases trash-talked each other mercilessly.
When NBA Jam was released,
it gave many people the opportunity to square off against one another
to prove that their team was a superior basketball force.
The original arcade release saw the Pistons represented by Isaiah Thomas and Bill Lambert
whilst the Bulls were represented by Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant.
Bulls-
Who was your team?
I know a lot of-
Anybody who was really good at NBA Jam had a good go-to team,
but there was one team that was just the most balanced.
Who was your go-to team?
I always played with Reggie Miller.
You played with Reggie?
Mm-hmm.
And then Shaq and Kobe when they did the New Orleans-
But you wasn't a real NBA Jam player.
Nah, because I always played with Reggie.
Nah, the Bulls wasn't the best team.
Nah, I always played with Reggie and Rick.
I'm going to tell you who the best team, y'all.
If y'all ever played this game, it was the Charlotte Hornets
with Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning.
Unstoppable, man.
I don't know why the game worked that way.
They was just the most unstoppable team.
I just love shooting, bro, so Reggie was fine.
That's what I'm saying.
That's what made Charlotte the cheat code.
They could shoot.
They could defend.
They could do all that.
NBA Jam, they was just the most unstoppable team.
The Bulls fans were disappointed to find that Michael Jordan
was not present in the standard game,
but they still had a formidable duo to battle their Detroit enemies with.
Little did they realize, however,
there was another handicap for Chicago hidden deep within the code.
A secret handicap whose existence would take years to be confirmed officially,
but was suspected to be present since the game's first release.
You can thank Mark Turnell, designer and programmer of NBA Jam.
He officially acknowledged the handicap in an interview with ESPN in 2008,
confirming what players had suspected for years.
Whenever the Bulls played the Pistons in a game,
stats in the background would change ever so slightly.
Last minute shots that would usually go in would be bricks.
Pippen would be a little less effective than normal.
In general, the Bulls would regress slightly
in those crucial crunch time moments,
but only against Detroit.
The Bulls may have dominated the NBA landscape
throughout the majority of the 90s,
but Turnell managed to carve out his own little piece
of Detroit-style revenge.
So the cheat code, if y'all didn't hear correctly,
was if it comes down to the last second
between the Bulls and the Pistons,
and you have the Bulls,
you're always going to miss the last shot.
Every time.
There's no way around it.
Your stats are going to go down to zero.
You cannot make a shot.
That's crazy.
And then, now we look at 2K today,
which is way more complex.
I almost guarantee one of them programmers
snuck something in before they played their favorite player.
Yeah, favorite team or favorite player.
Because I know some people,
I can just imagine the guy who's programming LeBron,
all these motherfuckers talking crazy about LeBron.
Now LeBron is just unstoppable.
Because we done had games like,
if you look back at all the 2Ks,
it's always been an unstoppable player.
That's a fact.
You can spam a certain move,
it's just always been like that.
That's a fact.
Even in the park,
you get a certain stature or whatever the case may be,
how I'm not blocking a shot,
I'm up before you.
How is he not a foul?
He's dunking on me.
Watch out for that.
So, again, we just let y'all know that
a lot of these games is rigged.
We know this video was shorter than normal,
but we just had to get this information out there.
