Indiana Fever vs. Washington Mystics | FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | May 7, 2024

This Indiana team, after playing a pretty rugged start to the season in terms of scheduling, yes, they are ready and they have fresh legs coming in here to D.C. As the fever gets the jump and the first bucket is down. Here's Van Leeuw, getting Edwards on the move. Got it deep, goes reverse layup, gets it up and in. Aaron Thiebaud told us that defense would definitely be at the top of the list. Wallace in the corner, gets that to go. Dolson continued to move in her second stint here with the Mystics. Here's Boston, off the pick and roll. A little hesitation gets that off the glass. Clark trying to get by. The Mystics defense gets right to the cup and lays it up and in. At the cup. Boston gets the slip and around Edwards, lays that up and in. 11-7 lead here for the team. Gets her on the bounce, Dolson too strong. Quickly up the floor is Mitchell. Beautiful find from Clark as Mitchell lays it up and in. It's remarkable, but it's not... I mean it, Bryce, you gotta let them marinate, let them grow in the game. Dolson from the corner splashes that in. Here's Clark. Picked up now by Dee Richards as she's into the ballgame. Richards on the floor. Clark, the step back three just below the logo, drills it. Too strong on that one, loose ball. Clark on the move, has Smith running with her. Gets it to her on the move. Beautiful two-person game. Atkins with it now. To the corner, Richards. Nice little short corner jumper goes. Yeah, right there in that dunker spot. You have Melissa Smith right there, Malia Boston. Good luck if you don't take that shot right away. Boston got around Van Lu. Van Lu couldn't do anything but try to use all of her size and stature. All of three shots that she's made in tonight's game. Wheeler, little in-out dribble. Gets that lay-in to go. That was a nice move. Clark now with it. Mitchell posted it up on Richards, thought about it. Clark still with it. The kick. Smith will call her number and knock it down. Here's Boston, under a minute to go now. Katie Samuelson into the ballgame and an immediate impact. Meg McDonald, Chrissy Winters-Scott, Megan McPeak with you here. Clark pulls off that screen, knocks it down, even with her body fading. She can still control that shot. Two points at the free-throw line there for the Mystics as Melvin was fouled by Smith-Wallace. Adding to this lead for the Fever. Troy Walker-Kimbrough is going to bring energy off the bench for the Mystics. She's done it all season and takes pride. Nice finish there by Melissa Smith with the up-and-under. Full away for Washington. Clark quickly gets to the hoop, up-and-under. Beautiful finish. Had 37 bench points a couple of games ago. It's players like Jade Melvin who have stepped in in the absence of an injured Brittany Sykes who is still out with an ankle. Here's the pitch-back action trying to get Ariel Atkins downhill to her strong left hand, which is her dominant hand. Fever held was 12, it now sits at 7. Van Leeuw on the kick. Atkins. Got it. In this ballgame. Edwards. Not that to go. Something I'm sure will be up for discussion in the halftime locker room. Samuelson, the 3. Atwin rolls around the rim and drops. That's when you miss the playmaking ability of Brittany Sykes. She can initiate offense, but she can also be the conductor on the offensive end for the Mystics. They're also missing Shakira Austin as well. Ariel Atkins getting things going for the Mystics on the offensive end. Now it's a double figures with 12. Kelsey Mitchell is not shy about getting a bucket, okay? And if you don't find her early, she's going to make you pay. And that's what Eric Thibault told us, right? Making them pay right there. Quick 5 for Kelsey Mitchell to start the third quarter. Here's Edwards. Into the paint. Kicks it out. Dolson 3. That one cashes in for Steph Dolson. She's now about 13 in the game. She's the most seasoned Washington Mystics player. Wallace answers back. 51-46 lead here. Just under 7 to play in the third quarter. Samuelson the quick trigger. That one falls for Carly Samuelson. At the basket. Here's Atkins. Dolson left open. Cashes in another 3. Atkins saw an opening. Jump stop. Kicks it. Van Loo. Step back. 3. Got it. On the defensive end. Giving up her body for the good of the squad. Van Loo the no look behind the head to Edwards for the finish. Clark pull up 3. That one. And you ask her about the Mystics and what it was going to take to be on the winning end. And that's what she's focused on tonight. Christy Sides has been very vocal about Mary. She needs to work on controlling the turnovers and bringing that number down. As Mitchell hits a big 3 for the Fever. So you love to see that. DMV showing up. Showing out. Clark an absolute quick spin. Comes back middle. Hang in. Aisha Hines-Allen. So the best thing you can do as a defender is not give it to her. Clark. Pulls for Kaitlyn. Crossover. Low dribble. Pull up. Jay gets it to go. In D.C. at Capital One Arena for this matchup. Samuelson at the buzzer. Oh my. Samuelson goes to Hines-Allen. Spins on Mitchell. Mitchell baseline. Got that to go off the window. She wasn't going to be able to see Katie Lou after last night's game. So today really the first time they're seeing her. Clark. Inbounds. And that's what it's about. She's ready for this moment as I said in that first half. And she is showing and proving why right now. Atkins off the window. Isolation here for Mitchell. Clark. Another one. Dolson. The lob to Hines-Allen. Able to collect that. Goes up strong. Doesn't get it. Second chance. Doubles it. Lisa Bluter saying she had like 70 points as a high school player. And she said she didn't need to dribble that at Iowa. So trying to find it on the professional level as well. Mitchell with the steal and the finish. Ten seconds on the shot clock. Carly Samuelson takes it down into the paint. Seven on the shot clock. Atkins with it. Gets it to Dolson. As the buzzer was about to go. Steph Dolson. Starts up from driving to the store the same way. It's a brand new car. You love it. Mitchell connects. Back to back. Triples on each end. Van Leeuw. The three. Gets it. Over 75% from the charity strike. Into Dolson. Samuelson the three. That falls. 7.5 to play. 84-83. Atkins. Fever. Will get their third win.
