You came to Toronto five years ago, right? And the statue of the Queen behind you was also there when it was built. Why did you come to Toronto this year? Today is the 36th and 35th anniversaries, which is a very important anniversary. Actually, I have a lot of feelings for Toronto. Toronto has a large community of Hong Kong people. Since I came to the U.S. in the first year, I've come here quite often. You just saw that some Hong Kong friends said they hoped I would come more often. I've been here quite often in the past. I feel that I owe Hong Kong people to some extent. They have worked so hard. I have the obligation to cooperate with their activities. Can you talk about the fact that you have been insisting for 35 years. The CCP has been covering up the truth and covering up the history. What do you think is the meaning of our activities overseas? I think that our activities are for our own good. I don't care how many people come and what the reaction is. For me, this is not the most important thing. For me, this is what I should do every year. This is my moral obligation. I think this is the first important meaning. Secondly, I think that no matter how many people there are, as long as there are people standing here every year and doing such activities, it will still show a meaning. For so many years, we have not been completely defeated by the CCP. We still hold on to this spirit. No matter how many years have passed, we still hold on to this spirit. We can't save the students who died in the past. The only thing we can inherit from them is to continue this commemorative activity and let the world know the truth. 35 years ago, we all know that the CCP was hoping that the Communist Party would improve the situation. Now we see that in 2022, students and adults are calling out for the Communist Party to step down. For so many years, do you think that there is a big change? Do you think that the Chinese are gradually waking up? I think the Chinese are gradually waking up. Because in the past, the CCP used its economic growth to cover up a lot of facts. Now, as the economy declines, the truth is slowly coming out. More and more young people are waking up. Although the White Paper movement has been suppressed, I think we will see a new White Paper movement in the future. You have held on for 35 years. There must have been some difficulties. Do you still have confidence in the Communist Party if it collapses? I think confidence is an important weapon for us to fight for our rights. I won't lose my own weapon. I think we should have confidence in democracy itself. Do you have any expectations for the new generation of young people? I think the new generation should at least have a basic common sense that people in our society should live with freedom and dignity. Living in the West, no matter what shortcomings the West has created, at least people live with freedom and dignity. We should also hope that the homeland we come from can give the people the same treatment. Let's guard the future of Taiwan together.
