Uh, but today we just kind of got some news news and information in sports, man.
We just wanted to touch on a few topics, uh, nothing too serious.
Uh, but we felt there was a few topics that we just needed to touch on briefly
to get the information out there to you guys.
So interesting story just kind of popped across my feet today.
All right, you guys, we've got some breaking news out of the
NBA to start off the show.
Just kind of crazy situation here.
We got doc rivers, head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers.
He's been the head coach of the Clippers.
I think for the last seven seasons and, uh, doc rivers is out.
He was fired today.
Um, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, uh, by the Clippers.
Um, after the epic collapse against the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs this year,
this is coming off the heels of a, uh, historic, uh, historic, uh, summer.
They were able to sign Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, um, along with maintaining
a very formidable bench, Montrez, Harold, Lou Williams, and those guys.
And, uh, the, the epic collapse this year.
Again, it was, it was just too much.
Uh, now that there, you know, a lot of fans called for the firing of doc
rivers after this epic collapse, I didn't think that the Clippers would
jump to this particular move.
Um, primarily because I just don't see a strong enough candidates
out there to necessarily replace him.
I mean, there are other good coaches out there, um, but to coach this
Clipper team, you definitely have to be a special coach, uh, where you
have to find a way to deal with or tolerate Kawhi Leonard's low management
concerns, uh, Paul George, not only injury concerns, but just his
driving enthusiasm for the game.
Uh, it seems like it comes and goes and it all showed in, in the Clippers
epic collapse against the Denver Nuggets.
I mean, we talk about a series where they blew a 15 point lead in game
five, you know, the game that they had locked in, uh, they also blew a 19
point second half lead in game six.
And then they just completely collapsed in game seven.
And we saw the Denver Nuggets take them out to picture.
Um, this is, this is big time news.
Um, now I heard, you know, I always have felt that Doc Rivers job was
predicated based on, um, if the players wanted them to be there, uh, you know,
but after that game seven loss, um, I think it was around the 22nd, um,
several players, um, on that Clipper team, they had some big time questions
for Doc Rivers with regards to, um, his coaching strategies, uh, or coaching
decisions.
Um, one of the biggest things was a lot of the players didn't understand why
the Clippers didn't go to a bigger lineup to guard, to guard, uh, Nicola
Yochick.
Um, and they said that, uh, Doc Rivers chose to prioritize a lineup with that
featured Jermichael Green, as opposed to, you know, creating a bigger lineup.
We saw, we saw that they had Joe Kamnoa on the bench the entire time and didn't
use them.
A lot of people questioned that particular decision.
Why did you bring Joe Kamnoa in and you don't use one of your best defensive
assets against a guy like Yochick?
We saw how effective Dwight Howard was against, uh, Nicola Yochick.
I feel like Joe Kamnoa, a former defensive player of the year could have
came in and done the same thing.
There was no need to necessarily double team and completely butcher your original
strategy, which ultimately ended up, uh, you know, that ultimately ended up being
the actual straw that broke your back by doubling Yochick.
He was able to pick apart your defense, pass the ball all around the court and
just get everybody else going.
So, uh, you know, again, although this is a firing that I did not see happen and I
did not see, um, the, the, the LA Clippers firing Doc Rivers, again, I don't know
what candidates out there can act, can be, are suitable for this job, can actually
come in and win a championship next year.
Uh, but I feel like Jay West and that staff over there, the only reason they
fired Doc Rivers is if they have something equally, equally, if not greater,
ready to come in now that you have people out there jumping to, you know, some,
some really, really far off conclusions, such as bringing a Mark Jackson in or
bringing a field Jackson in.
I don't think any of those two coaches, this is not the job for either of those
two guys.
I definitely don't see those guys getting hired in this particular job.
Um, it's hard to say if this is something for Sam Casell or Tyloo, I think both of
those guys are going to move on elsewhere to other jobs outside of that Clipper
organization.
Um, so yeah, right now I just think it's a, it's just, it's just a big question
mark right now.
We just kind of have to wait and see what direction they're going to move forward
in.
Now, what we do know is that they have to make a decision quickly.
Um, there's not much time between now and the NBA draft.
Those draft decisions are going to have to be made.
Player interviews are going to have to be conducted.
What players are we going to stick around with where we've worked?
What, what holes do we need to feel, whether it's on the bench or the starting
lineup?
Um, we know that the Clippers are in a peculiar situation, uh, because they are
severely over the cap.
So all of the players that they have who are free agents now, um, these are
essentially the only players that they can resign outside of the veterans
minimum.
Uh, and so they may have to overpay to keep guys on that team.
Like Morris, they may have to overpay to keep all of those free agents, uh,
because, because they're so far over the salary caps, you're not going to be able
to dive into free agency to, to, to get additional players for your roster.
You don't have any draft picks.
You gave literally all of your draft picks away to, uh, the OKC Thunder.
Uh, so there's, they're essentially stuck with this team.
The only player that I can maybe guess that will leave is my trash Harrell.
Uh, uh, but at the end of the day with him, especially with him being young,
being on one of his first contracts, if the Clippers offer them a absorbent of
an amount of money, he's probably going to take it, but that's something that the
Clippers are going to have to do because they don't have much flexibility to go
out and go sign other guys.
So there, there are a number of decisions that need to be made with this Clipper
team.
They're going to have to make some really quick decisions.
Uh, I hope that they can bring in a solid coach.
Um, I just don't know if this coach that they bring in is going to be of
championship caliber or, uh, be greater than what Doc Rivers could have brought
you.
So, you know, again, the players must have voiced their concerns.
I'm assuming this, in my opinion, this had to be a move that was influenced by
the players.
Um, I, I just, I don't think ownership was ready to move on from Doc Rivers.
I think this was player driven, but you, but you never, you never know what the
NBA, you know, bomber's smart.
Uh, Jerry West is extremely smart.
These guys know how to put people in the right place to succeed.
So I expected, I expect them to do a great job and find a replacement for Doc
Rivers that for the future of Doc Rivers, I don't necessarily know what's going to
go on him.
I would, I would assume that he's probably going to sit out of basketball for a year
or so just to kind of clear his mind, give himself a break.
Coaching NBA basketball is extremely stressful.
Um, so I don't see him jumping right back into another job.
It could happen, but again, this is just my guess.
Uh, and you know, I don't know, is there another job out there for him?
You know, you would hope that there is, but again, the way he failed, uh,
especially in this most recent playoff, uh, setting being up three, one against
the Denver Nuggets.
And then you falter for your three games straight and you lose that series.
That's big time.
And a lot of, a lot of teams are going to be looking at that.
Um, and I think there, you know, some other people made a really good point
yesterday that that epic collapse could actually affect other, other coaches on
that staff with Tyronn Lue and Sam Cassell.
Now you have a lot of people looking at your staff with a side eye and not just
you, but you guys let me know what you think about that as we move on to the
next topic.
And some of you guys may have already seen this and I didn't know this man.
I didn't even know this was possible, but it looks like regardless of the
outcome of the NBA finals this year, regardless of the outcome, it looks as
if Dion waiters will be an NBA champion.
Um, now we know that he was waived by the Miami heat earlier this year.
He wasn't traded or anything like that.
So because he was a part of that Miami heat roster, although he has rejoined the
Lakers, um, he will be one of the players to get a championship ring.
If the Miami heat are able to overcome the Lakers and win that championship.
So it looks like either way, win or lose, uh, Dion waiters is going to be an NBA
champion this year.
Um, really weird scenario right there.
Just started with something to speak on.
Not sure.
I'm sure that's something the NBA is probably going to be looking into going
into the off season to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
Um, I just think it's a rare circumstance for a player to get waived and then, and
then sign with a team that actually makes the championship.
And then the team that they left also makes the finals as well.
So it's very odd occurrence, but I think that's something the NBA is going to look
to change over the next few years.
Um, another story we wanted to speak on again, this, this is, you know, this is
in regards to NBA draft, this NBA draft is going to be on November 18th.
Um, teams, teams right now, especially playoff teams, as they're getting
eliminated, they really don't have much time off.
They have to jump right into the mix.
They have to start looking at trade scenarios, coaching moves, assistant
coaching moves, like what are they going to do?
Cause the season is going to be starting up pretty soon here.
Um, uh, once news out of the draft, I really wanted to speak on this was with
regards to Anthony Edwards.
Now, Anthony Edwards has been projected to be the number one pick.
A lot of people have Anthony Edwards going to Minnesota with that number one
pick to feel that boy, that shooting guard, especially now.
So, uh, with, uh, Malik Beasley catching, uh, those gun charges, the, that could
really put a hole in that, in that roster.
Uh, he, he was one of the players that they looked to build around down there.
And so we don't know what his future is going to be like.
So Anthony Edwards is primed to potentially get drafted to the
Minnesota Timberwolves.
But if he does fall, if he does fall, there are reports coming out
about Anthony Edwards character.
Um, now a lot of scouts, um, are talking about the fact that Anthony Edwards
has never really won on any level.
And that's very, that's very, very odd.
Most NBA players have usually had a lot of success, at least on the high school
level, a little bit different when you get into college, but usually even in
college, if you're a great player, you can find yourself having success.
Even if you're on a bad college team, we saw that with, you know, some guys like
Steph Curry, um, went to small schools, even Damian Lillard had success at
Weber State in his time there.
Uh, great players, especially NBA caliber players are able to elevate teams.
I mean, even if we look at a guy as random as Kyle Corver, you know, Kyle
Corver was able to elevate his college team, even though they were a mid-major.
Um, and not, you know, not one of the powerhouse schools, you know, really
NBA talents, NBA caliber players are usually able to elevate their teams.
You might not win at all, but you're usually in the mix.
Um, or your teams is usually pretty consistently ranked with, with regards
to Georgia, um, Georgia was really never, uh, a team that was, uh, a feared in
college basketball over the last, over the last few years, or even last year
when Anthony Edwards played.
So he put a big number, similar to how Marco folks put a big numbers on
Washington, but a lot of scouts are looking at not just his character, but
his ability, um, to win his drive and his enthusiasm for the game.
So, you know, scouts are wrong a lot of times on some of these things, but this
is definitely something that you want to look into because history tells
all what this one right here, players that win, um, usually do a
little bit better in the NBA.
But you guys let it, let me, let us know what you think about right there.
You think the scouts are just overthinking it or you think
that's a real consideration?
The fact that Anthony Edwards hasn't really won on any level.
Um, that's something that could be debated and discussed.
We may have to talk about that on another show.
Next up, um, next up, we got news out of the ball family.
Lamello ball, uh, Lamello ball has just announced that he will be a
training, uh, or attending, uh, NBA combine workouts.
Um, now we know players like Anthony Edwards and there have been other draft
prospects who's, who are turning that down.
We know that a lot of the top prospects to generally, generally avoid a lot of
these combine workouts because it could potentially drop their stock.
Um, so we see Anthony Edwards, he's not going to be attending these, these
workouts, uh, Lamello is not shying away.
He's looking to show these teams what he has.
So he's going to be participating in these workouts.
I don't think his stock can really drop.
I think with him, it's just going to be about the fit.
Um, if the team needs a point guard and if the team needs
a pass first point guard.
So there are, there are a number of teams at the top of the draft
that could use this guy at point.
Um, some new teams are coming into the mix that are looking at Lamello ball,
even the Sacramento Kings, which is odd because they already
have the Aaron Fox at point.
So I want to know, you know, what are they thinking with that move?
Pairing Lamello, uh, Lamello ball with, uh, the Aaron Fox, you know,
how would that potentially work?
Uh, what, what are the potential trade scenarios at that number two pick?
Um, I know teams like the Knicks are really, really looking at Lamello ball.
Um, what are they, what, what are they willing to give up to get that number
two, number two pick from the warriors?
Could it potentially be a pick swap?
I don't know.
That's what I'm hearing, but a lot of things can happen right there.
But, um, Lamello ball has also come out and just reaffirmed that
he's willing to play for any team.
We know that LeVar ball a few months ago, or I think it was about a
month ago, came out and stated.
He really didn't like the idea of a Lamello playing with the Golden
State warriors.
But again, this guy right now, I think he, I think he's a laser focused.
I think Lamello is laser focused.
I think he's working hard.
He's staying locked in.
I think he's willing and ready to come into any NBA team that he's drafted to.
Um, and jump right into the starting lineup and have a major impact on any team.
And that's what I expect out of him.
When he was in Australia, he averaged 17 points a game.
Uh, I think six or seven assists.
Uh, he's a decent rebounder and he's showing more.
Effort, intensity and energy on the defensive end.
And that's all you can ask from a player like that, especially a young guy.
So, uh, can't wait to see what the future holds for a Lamello ball
going into the NBA draft.
All right, next up, this is a team that, uh, you know, this is a team that we
just saw play the Los Angeles Lakers.
And as I just mentioned before, a lot of these teams, a lot of these NBA teams,
as they exit the NBA bubble, they have to go right back into grind mode.
That meaning that they have to start looking at what are we going to do next
year? And it seems like that may be too soon for the Denver Nuggets, but with
the draft coming up in November, with the season potentially starting after
Christmas, these teams got to make a lot of decisions, not just with the roster
rotation and coaches, but we got to get players back in the training camp.
We got to get them back geared up, ready to play and start the season.
Um, as early as December or January and with the Denver Nuggets, the
Denver Nuggets, um, it's been rumored that, you know, they have a number of
players that they are looking to bring into that team.
If they can work out the right trades, their number one target, the Denver
Nuggets, number one target, um, going into their off season is going to be
Kevin Love at the power for spot.
Now we know Millsap is probably not going to be coming back.
Um, I've been hearing rumors that Paul Millsap will, uh, sign a veteran, a
veteran's deal with the Golden State Warriors.
But again, there are a lot of teams out there that will be looking to sign Paul
Millsap, especially as a veteran veteran on that bench.
But the Denver Nuggets are eyeing a way to bring Kevin Love over to that team.
Now we saw them struggle mightily at the power for position.
Um, bringing him in will definitely give them more of veteran presence.
Who's who has playoff experience, not for sure what it would bring for the
defensive end, but they definitely could use the offensive punch.
Um, like Kevin Love at that power for spot.
Um, another player that they're going to be looking at, if they can't figure
that out with Kevin Love, I'm hearing Blake Griffin, um, they're looking
at target Blake Griffin somehow.
And again, they're going to have a lot of money coming off the books with
Paul Millsap's money coming off the books.
That's 30 million in salary.
That opens up there.
Be able to, they're, they're almost able to bring any player in now that Paul
Millsap's contract is off their book.
So Kevin Love or Blake Griffin, both of those moves are very possible.
It's just going to be about working out the logistics.
If you can manage it or manipulate some type of trade, obviously you'll have to
give something up to get either one of those players, but these are two
players that are on their list.
Um, the third player that I've seen that's on their list is Gordon Hayward.
Again, I don't like the idea of Gordon Hayward being on that list, but what we
did see, what we did see this year was when Will Barton went out with injury,
they did struggle.
They didn't have that third score.
They didn't have that bonafide player that can come in and that you can count
on night in and night out to make shots.
I think that's something Gordon Hayward would do.
Gordon Hayward just hasn't looked the same since he came back from that injury.
He just hasn't looked the same.
And again, I do see Gordon Hayward getting traded.
I don't see him with his Denver Nugget team.
I would not want Gordon Hayward on my roster as a reliable third option.
My third option is somebody I need to count on to be there night in and night
out, and I don't know, I don't know if we can expect that out of Gordon Hayward
at this stage in his career.
Um, the last target on their list.
And again, the reason why this is the last target on their list is because it's
probably the most far fetch is probably something that they won't be able to get
done, but they do have Chris Paul on their radar at the point guard spot.
Um, Jamal Murray played great at point guard in the playoffs, but unfortunately
he's not a true point guard.
Um, their best passer on that team was Jokic.
Um, the guy that was pushing the ball in transition was Jokic.
Um, and, and, and again, they were forced to kind of put a lot of guys
in some awkward roles because of, uh, they didn't have, they never had a true
point guard, Morris isn't a true point guard.
Um, even Barton's is not a true board.
More, uh, Murray is not a true point guard in the week.
And they had, uh, Jokic running a point for him.
And again, it worked until they came up against the powerhouse team.
So you can probably run a lot of these gimmick offenses or gimmick strategies,
but when you go against the elite teams or some of the most elite talents in
the NBA, uh, you're going to need a true point guard.
So having Chris Paul on that roster definitely would have helped.
I just don't see how they can manage that or make that potential trade work.
I don't think they have enough to give up.
Um, I know that OKC is going to be looking to get a lot of draft picks
in return for Chris Paul.
They may not necessarily care about the players, so they may take on an expiring
contract just to, um, just to get draft picks.
And I can see that happening.
Uh, but again, you never know, but I like what the Denver Nuggets have.
I don't think they should do anything drastic or make any major changes.
I know a lot of people have been saying, get rid of Garrett Harris,
get rid of Torrey Craig.
But again, these are the guys that got you there.
Just a subtle changes, some small changes.
She'll be able to work to keep this Denver Nugget team highly competitive.
All right, next up, we're going to talk about Victor Oladipo.
Reports are coming out of Indiana.
Reports are coming out of Indiana that Victor Oladipo, Victor Oladipo is
looking to move on from the Indiana Patriots.
Um, now I don't know where this marriage between the team and the player went
wrong, it seemed like Victor Oladipo and Indiana, it seemed like they had a great
relationship ever since he had that injury in return from injury, there's been a divide.
Um, I think he really, uh, I think he really, um, disagreed with
the firing of Nate McMillan.
Uh, that might've been the icing on the cake for Victor Oladipo.
So once Nate McMillan was fired, I think that just kind of
sealed his fate with Indiana.
He does not want to return.
He's going to, he's probably going to look to get, you know,
to get a trade out of there.
From what I'm hearing, I'm hearing Boston is definitely interested in a potential
trade, sending Gordon Hayward back home to Indiana, Victor Oladipo to Boston.
I don't really see how that bolsters that particular team.
They really need a true point guard.
That's something that they don't have.
If you're, if you're adding another offensive talent into that mix, along
with Jalen Brown, Tatum and Kimball Walker, again, I don't see how that
works, but those are the rumors that are floating around out there.
We've heard, we've heard, we've heard tidbits and rumors about him.
Uh, getting a trade to the Miami heat, pairing up with Jimmy Butler.
I don't know how that works.
I mean, with the emergence of your young stars, like Tylee
Heron, Duncan Robinson, do you need, do you need a Victor Oladipo on that roster?
Is he that much of an impact star that you can bring them in and
send some of those other guys?
I don't know.
Uh, we'll, we'll, I think that decision can be more easily be made.
Um, if the Miami heat can potentially pull off this championship against the
Lakers, but I mean, you never know when you're dealing with these teams in the
NBA, I don't think that'll be a good move.
Um, I, I, I honestly think Victor Oladipo should stay in Indiana.
I think that's the best fit for him right now.
Um, shooting guard spot.
I mean, most teams in NBA use, you know, most teams have a pretty solid shooting
guard, um, and then I don't know what teams are really going to be seeking out
a shooting guard that's been often injured, um, such as Oladipo, it looks
like he kind of lost a step, but hopefully he can get back to his original
self going into the 2021 season.
Uh, but, uh, that's it for today's news and updates, man.
Don't forget tomorrow.
We're going to have our NBA final preview show.
We're going to have a number of guests on that particular show.
I would love for you guys to tune in, check that out again.
We just want to get a different perspective.
I want to hear from a few different people about what they think about this
matchup, what should the heat do?
What shouldn't he do?
What strategies will or won't work.
I'm really curious about how the Lakers are going to be using AD, but these are
all things that we're going to be discussing tomorrow in our NBA finals
preview, make sure you don't forget as well.

all still say we cool with each other, but it's FYF sports, man.
Another great news and updates video.
