Did you know that the Egyptians used hieroglyphics, a complex writing system with over 700 symbols,
to keep records and tell stories? Contrary to popular belief, the iconic pyramids,
especially the Great Pyramid of Giza, were built by skilled laborers, not slaves. Egyptians believed
in the afterlife, leading them to mummify their dead to preserve the body for eternity.
Cleopatra VII, one of Egypt's most famous rulers, wasn't Egyptian but Greek,
descended from one of Alexander the Great's generals. The Nile River was the lifeblood
of ancient Egypt, providing essential resources like water, food, and fertile soil. Egyptians
adored cats, considering them sacred, and harming a cat was a grave offense. They were advanced in
medicine, performing surgeries and documenting treatments on papyrus scrolls. Hatshepsut,
a rare female pharaoh, ruled for over 20 years, known for her peaceful reign. Beer was a daily
staple for Egyptians, safer than Nile water. Finally, they wore amulets like the Ankh,
symbolizing eternal life, for protection. Ancient Egypt's rich culture and innovations
continue to captivate us today.
