2024年5月28日に開催された「マルチパスウェイワークショップ」では、マツダ、トヨタ、スバルの3社が共同で、ロータリーエンジンを活用したイノベーションなど、開発中の次世代パワートレイン技術を発表した。

At the "Multi-Pathway Workshop" held on May 28, 2024, Mazda, Toyota, and Subaru jointly announced the next-generation powertrain technology they are developing, including innovations using rotary engines.

Since 2007, Mazda has been promoting its "Build Module Strategy", which aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by comprehensively improving engine technology and combining it with electrification technology. In addition, its compact structure facilitates the integration of auxiliary equipment of the electric power system while improving aerodynamic performance.

At the briefing, they demonstrated the "Rotary EV System Concept (1 Rotor)" electric powertrain using a one-rotor engine, and the "Iconic SP" dual-rotor electric powertrain expected to be installed on the concept car. These innovations demonstrate Mazda’s exploration and efforts in welcoming the electrification era.
