After the restart, pit stops were thus at a premium, but Hamilton stopped on lap 51 for a new set of cards, with Max Verstappen doing likewise on the following lap. Thereafter, the two old rivals traded fastest laps on their new rubber, but it was Hamilton who won the battle on lap 63. He completed the first sector in 19.548 seconds, sector two in 34.854 seconds and rounded out the final sector in 19.763 seconds to give him a time over the line of one minute.
