Hello everyone. Today we will help you with the English reading and writing test for the U.S.
citizenship interview. The immigration officer will test your ability to read and write English
by asking you to read out loud up to three English sentences and asking you to write up
to three English sentences. These sentences are based on the official vocabulary list provided
by the official USCIS website. You can check the link below. For the reading test, the officer
will ask you to read up to three sentences on a tablet. You need to get one reading sentence
correct to pass the reading test and three reading sentences are interrogatives. An interrogative
sentence is a sentence that asks a question. You will fail the reading test if you have too many
long pauses when reading the sentences or you skip many words in the sentences, you do not read
the sentence at all, or you make pronunciation errors that change the meaning of the sentence.
For the writing test, the USCIS officer will read up to three sentences aloud and ask you to write
them up on the tablet to demonstrate your ability to write in English. You must write one sentence
correct to pass. Usually the sentence you write is the answer to the question you are asked to read
during the reading test and you don't have to know the answer. The officer will read it out loud for
you and you just have to write it down on the tablet. You will fail the writing test if you write
nothing or the officer cannot read what you wrote or you write a completely different sentence than
what the officer read. And these sentences are questions that are related to the United States'
history and government. Let's practice using examples and please listen carefully and feel
free to pause the video to write down the sentences as you go. First sentence. Can you read the sentence
