When it comes to scented tea styles, nothing is more popular than jasmine tea, typically crafted by scenting green tea leaves with fresh jasmine flowers. This captivating style offers the best of both worlds, with the bright aroma of jasmine elevating the richness, complexity, health benefits, and caffeine boosts of green tea. But jasmine isn't the only flower that can be used to scent tea, and green tea isn't the only tea that can be blended with flowers. In fact, the tradition of creating flower-scented tea dates back centuries across East Asia. In Taiwan, one of the most popular flower-scented teas is Osmanthus Oolong, crafted by blending local Formosa Oolong tea leaves with the sweet, tropical Osmanthus flower. Osmanthus is an amazingly aromatic blossom, with a flavor like dry peach and honey, while Taiwanese Oolong has a fresh floral and creamy taste that provides the perfect foundation. Unfortunately, most modern Osmanthus Oolongs are artificially produced by spraying low-grade tea leaves with an Osmanthus-flavoring chemical. To avoid this, we created our own Osmanthus Oolong by blending premium Formosa Oolong tea leaves with natural, dry Osmanthus flowers. The result is a much higher quality and healthier tea, with a delicate sweet and floral Osmanthus taste. It's delicious on its own, or a perfect pairing for desserts. For the best results, we recommend preparing Osmanthus Oolong in the Gong Fu method, using 1 gram of tea per ounce of water at 185 Fahrenheit for 2 minutes.
