It's FYF Sports, man, it's Lamar.
We back with another podcast episode, man.
You know, we had to do our game of the day,
you know, as we were ending our live stream yesterday.
This actually unfolded
and just kind of turned into the game of the day.
I was really wanting to go over that Nets and Bucks game.
That was a really good game as well,
but the Golden State Warriors
and an epic comeback against the Lakers
kind of took over the day.
So we're gonna be breaking that game down,
really talking about what went wrong for the Lakers,
what went right for the Warriors,
and just, you know, maybe a general forecast
of what we see going forward in the future
for both of these teams.
Before we get started today,
make sure you guys like, comment, and subscribe.
Hit the notification bell
if you haven't done so already.
Grinding the 20K, you know,
we get closer and closer every day.
All right, we're gonna continue to grind,
push the content and media out there to you guys.
And we appreciate all of the support
that we're receiving from, you know, all avenues,
you know, whether it's from the blogs,
whether it's from Facebook, whether it's from YouTube.
We appreciate everybody who is watching FYF Sports videos,
breakdowns, and live streams.
But today, like I said before,
I really want to touch on this Golden State Warrior game,
because I think it really kind of,
this game really kind of exposed
a number of things for both teams.
We know that Golden State is a team
that's still trying to find their identity.
I think they have a culture.
I don't think they have a true identity
as what type of team they're gonna be.
But the one thing that we know
is without Klay Thompson on the court,
the Golden State Warriors will not be able
to be the offensive juggernaut
that we've seen in the past.
All right, so now I think after seeing them
get to five NBA finals in a row,
we, you know, we love seeing the Splash Brothers.
They now are in the middle of an identity crisis.
So, you know, as Steve Kerr said after the game,
you know, they have three guys on this roster
that have all said we want to make
the NBA All-Defensive team,
and Wiggins, Oubre, and Draymond Green.
Obviously we know Draymond Green's gonna be on that list.
Can Wiggins and Oubre get on that team?
And that type of identity is the identity
that's going to make this team,
you know, just a basic playoff team
or an elite team in the West
that could potentially get to the Western Conference Finals.
And they have a lot of games to figure it out.
So, you know, we're only 13 games in.
You know, based on how we saw the Warriors
play their first two games,
I didn't think they would be seven to six at this time.
You know, they have a tough stretch coming up with games.
We just saw them, you know,
kind of repair and fix some things earlier on
when they, you know, they had a string of home games
and they played some weaker opponents.
So they were able to kind of find their footing a bit.
But now the Golden State Warriors
are going to be going on a tough stretch of road games
where they're really going to get tested.
And I look forward to seeing
how they react to some of these tests.
And this test against the Lakers, you know,
before this game, before this game,
I was thinking to myself,
this could be,
this could kind of be like a sleeper game for the Lakers
if they fall asleep against this Golden State team.
If they look back on how Golden State
was playing early in the year,
this could be a game where the Lakers fall asleep.
And the one thing I have to give credit
for Golden State for
is every game that I've seen them play,
they play it from start to finish.
This is a team that you cannot fall asleep on.
This is the second game that I've seen
with the Golden State Warriors
where they've been down big
and they've been able to mount comebacks late
and then not just mount comebacks late,
but then sustain those leads to finish out the game.
So what we're going to do is, you know, as we always do,
we're going to go over to the drawing board.
And when we go to the drawing board,
we will be breaking down the footage,
breaking down all of the highlights of last night's matchup
between the Golden State Warriors
and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Again, there are some key things
that I'm going to be looking for.
I need to be looking for what went wrong with the Lakers.
What can we identify with the Lakers?
Obviously there are some, you know,
Anthony Davis hasn't gotten it off
to the best start of the season.
Some of those bench guys like Montrezl Harrell
have been kind of quiet.
Dennis Schroeder, his kind of,
his role has kind of quieted down.
He started with a bang.
And then when we talk about the Warriors roster,
you know, what's making this team, you know,
what's giving them the ability and the intestinal fortitude
to come back from these, you know, these large deficits?
You know, how are, and then they're not just coming back
from large deficits against average teams.
They're doing it against really good teams.
So what's giving them that intestinal fortitude to do that?
You know, especially even on nights
where Steph Curry is struggling to shoot the ball well.
So let's go ahead and get to the drawing board
so we can break down the footage.
All right, we got the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.
What I've been seeing lately is I like how Steve Kerr
is looking to get Ubre Buckets early, closer to the basket,
as opposed to getting them open looks
from the three-point line.
I think he really needs that for his confidence.
It's really gonna pay dividends.
Anthony Davis, that's a great rebound right there,
put back, and I'm gonna rewind that real quick
because I think this has been
one of Wiseman's biggest problems all year.
I think this is something that he can eventually learn
and fix, but Wiseman has had trouble
staying out of foul trouble.
Now, I'll be the first one to tell you
that a lot of these foul calls against Wiseman
have been highly suspect, but you know,
in this setting right here,
this was one of those foul calls,
this was one of these foul calls that's unavoidable.
And as you can see, as you can see,
Draymond Green is calling out the correct help position.
See, Draymond Green is calling out,
see, Draymond Green is high weak side,
Kelly Ubre's low weak side.
This is Kelly Ubre's help assignment.
So this was really a blown assignment by Ubre.
So, you know, if Ubre's looking to be
one of those defensive player of the year candidates,
this is an assignment that he can't blow.
Remember, NBA teams have to guard the basketball as a team,
not as an individual player.
If you expect Wiseman to be able to stay in front of Schroeder
without any help at all, you're not living in reality.
In the NBA, that's just not gonna happen with most players.
Ubre needs to be over here on this low block right here.
As we know, Draymond Green will be able to take out
Anthony Davis on that drive,
and Steph Curry will be able to bump over
and take this passing lane away from LeBron James.
Ideally, that's how you want it to work defensively.
But again, this is a team.
This is what I mean.
They're still trying to find their identity.
They're still trying to find their chemistry.
I think later on in the year,
these types of defensive mistakes won't be there
to put a guy like Wiseman in trouble.
And that's gonna be extremely beneficial.
So we're gonna let that play out.
So we see Ubre's late on that rotation.
Schroeder doesn't just get the layup,
but he gets to end one foul.
And Wiseman just has to be smarter, y'all.
Wiseman just has to understand that, you know,
as the starting center on this team,
and we lack depth at that center position,
this is not high school anymore, or even college.
I can't go for this block on some beat like that.
I just have to give him the layup and go the other way.
All right, and then we rally around our team at a timeout
and say, look, I need you there helping me on this drive.
Because he did force him away from the middle.
He forced a baseline drive,
which is absolutely 100% correct.
That's what he needs to do.
But the fouling is something
that you can't continue to do, Wiseman.
And we gotta applaud Schroeder, man.
A lot of people question his role with this team, man.
He's really stepped up in replacing Rondo, man.
Great job, man.
I love the way Schroeder plays, y'all.
Like, if you watch this man play,
as hard as he plays defensively and offensively,
you really gotta respect
how this man plays the game of basketball.
Davis with another tough finish at the rim.
Curry, tough shot.
And you know Steph Curry's gonna do Steph Curry.
Not much you can do on that shot right there.
Great pass by LeBron Montrash-Harrell.
Yeah, Montrash has been kinda quiet, man.
Hopefully he can kinda open up
and get back to being himself.
And I want y'all to, let me know what you think
about Golden State's offensive system.
It's a flow offense.
I like it, and I'm gonna discuss later
why I like it so much.
But Pascal with a great finish at the rim.
Great dump down pass to Harrell once again.
Brad Wanamaker, excellent pick up.
Great dump down to Eric Pascal.
And that's the shot, y'all, man.
This is the shot right here.
I mean, as small as it seems,
Draymond Green is gonna have to be able
to make this shot time and time again,
at least at about a 38 to 40% clip.
He has to.
Because as great as he is on ball,
he has to get a lot better off ball.
All right, and this is part of that flow offense
that they run.
Obviously they love to get the ball out of Steph's hands
and put them into motion.
And as Steph Curry goes into motion,
watch how much, and this is what,
this is to me what makes Steph Curry
one of the greatest offensive players of all time,
because they have to pay so much attention to him off ball
that it gets guys open shots.
I've never seen a situation,
usually it's guys with the ball,
it's usually it's guys with the ball
that create open shots for others.
I've never seen another player in NBA history
who off ball attracts so much attention
that he gets other guys open.
And again, this opens up a look for Draymond Green.
This is how teams are going to consistently
try to guard Steph Curry.
This is why his field goal percentage
has kind of been suffering the last couple of games,
because he's getting badgered off ball
every time he's in the game.
All right, Schroeder's not leaving him.
It's almost like a box and one,
how tight Schroeder is with him.
Schroeder's not even looking to play
any help defense at all.
All right, and Pascal has to make the decision.
Do I hit Draymond for the open three,
even though he's been struggling?
And I think Curry is,
I think one thing I respect about Curry
is he's told his guys to continue to shoot the ball,
get those misses out your system now,
so that by the time the end of the season comes around,
we ready to go.
Wow, great take by LeBron.
Great steal by LeBron.
Not much you can do for a take like that, man.
Great take by Dennis Schroeder.
Straight to the basket.
Has anybody else been paying attention
to how well LeBron James has been shooting
the three ball this year?
Man, so is Wiseman with that perimeter shot,
but LeBron has been shooting the three ball this year
in an astounding clip.
Davis with another bucket.
All day, you know, Anthony Davis
had a kind of a quiet night tonight
with only 17 points.
Dominant on the rebounding edge.
But Draymond Green did a great job
of kind of reeling him in,
so he didn't completely obliterate them tonight.
And see, hold on, this is a playoff mistake right here.
You know, I would use this as a teaching lesson.
And I've seen Schroeder do this a lot this year
for the Lakers.
Fall asleep in that mid transition
and allow guys to just take wide open shots.
This is what you can't do
because these are the types of shots.
I mean, if you look at the time and score,
this is going into the top of the third quarter.
This is where teams make they run.
You don't want guys getting hot
and giving them open looks early on in the third quarter.
This is just what you don't want.
So we're going to look at where this kind of fell apart
for the Lakers.
I mean, we got mid transition,
we got Wiggins bringing the ball up.
There's a lapse on communication.
You know, obviously this is not Marc Gasol's assignment.
All right, you got three guys trailing the play.
All right, Schroeder's the only one not guarding anybody.
Schroeder, you got three guards behind the three-point line,
including Steph Curry.
You got to be aware of that, all right?
And as long as you're aware of that,
if you understand that Anthony Davis
has anything coming to the post,
even though Marc Gasol is trailing,
you got to be a bit more defensively aware.
And this is one of your biggest flaws, Schroeder.
I mean, great defensively in the half court,
but in the transition,
you kind of get lost in the sauce a little bit.
And as we can see, it happens right here
in just a wide open three-pointer,
just a practice three that Wiggins can walk into
that can kind of jumpstart the run for a team.
Big time mistake.
Big time mistake might not seem like much,
but at the end of the game,
those are the things that you look to,
that you could,
these are the baskets that you could have taken away
that could have gave you an opportunity to win the game.
And same thing again, those are two threes by Wiggins.
See, again, you allowed him to get that walk-in three early
on in the quarter.
Now he has the high hand.
He's hit another three.
Again, this is a game where the Lakers,
I think, only lost by two points.
So, and this is what I mean by refs don't control games.
If you go back to that first three that I showed you,
that where all Schroeder had to do
was pick up an assignment and go contest.
If Wiggins misses that three,
it changes the outcome of the game.
A lot of other things change as well.
So again, that's one assignment.
That's why we can always go back to plays and say,
you know what, if you did this correctly,
maybe we were in this game.
We don't have to blame refs.
So again, the Lakers defensively
in the third and fourth quarter,
they have a tendency to fall asleep.
And we're going to see a lot of those defensive gaps
in this game.
Once again,
this is another,
this is something right here.
Again, Schroeder, you got to get this out of your system
because the NBA now has that anti-flopping rule.
I won't be surprised if Schroeder gets fined for that flop.
If going, you know, sometime today.
This is a flop right here, y'all.
This is a flop and you're not getting rewarded
for it this year.
You know, people were starting to say the NBA was awful.
They got that anti-flopping rule.
Now, players are getting fined
if it's clear cut and dry
that you're trying to flop to get a call.
And did a Schroeder flop here?
He didn't get rewarded with the call
and he doubles down on it by staying on the ground,
taking himself out of the picture defensively,
giving the Warriors another easy bucket.
And again, as you guys can see,
that large lead has now been cut down to six.
All right.
I mean, look at Schroeder.
This is a flop, y'all.
Refs are not awarding you for getting touched.
Schroeder actually started falling
before Wiggins put his hand up.
All right.
He's trying to bait the ref into a call.
Now you put Anthony Davis in a situation
where he has to play two spots
because he was thinking he had to help down on Wiggins
if he does that turnaround fadeaway that he likes to do.
All right.
But now Wiggins has to go contest Curry.
Obviously, Anthony Davis is getting given that extra effort.
I mean, whether Steph Curry makes the shot or not
or passes it, you have to go make this effort
on his shot attempt.
And, but, Curry still drains the three.
Great power move by Anthony Davis, man.
And Schroeder's making up for his mistakes.
But he's making a lot of mistakes as well.
Kyle Kuzma, great game.
15 points, 10 rebounds, man.
I love to see that type of game out of him.
Three or seven from the three-point line,
six or 11 from the field.
Steph Curry walks us in for a layup.
Remember, that second half Laker defense
has been really shoddy this year.
All right, we got to really identify
what's going on with the Lakers' defensively late game.
Great take by Caruso right there.
Not much you can do for a shot like that.
Kuzma, man, Kuzma, y'all.
Hopefully, Kuzma can wake up
and find a more locked-in role for this team
because he's been struggling this year.
I don't think he's the corner three-point
catch-and-shoot type of player
that they're trying to make him to be,
but he's doing a really good job
of adjusting to that role
when Anthony Davis goes with the turnaround fadeaway.
All right, Warriors back down 11 here.
All right, late rotation.
Looney finishes over Kuzma.
Yeah, one-four flat pick-and-roll set.
Man, that was an easy bucket for LeBron.
Take by Pascal.
Kuzma, obviously, Kuzma's going to be
falling asleep on defense a lot.
Bates Moore, great pickup by the Warriors,
getting Bates Moore, man.
I love that pickup.
He's came in to play great defensively.
Pascal's ability to finish at the rim is underrated, too.
He's a great finisher at the rim.
Damian Lee, this guy's due to get paid a lot of money.
Damian Lee will be making a lot of money in NBA.
The ability, his ability to shoot the ball.
Love his effort defensively and offensively.
Pascal stays with the play, get the layup.
See, now there's this point of the game right here.
Again, this is where Lakers tend to fall asleep.
They've allowed Golden State to get some momentum
to fight back into the game.
All right, we're going to look at the lineup on the court.
It looks like you may have your best defensive lineup
on the court with LeBron, Montrez, AD, Schroeder,
and I think KCP over here.
This is probably going to be their strongest
defensive lineup with Gasol off the floor.
All right, so really, and then when you're looking
at the Warriors lineup on the floor right now,
I don't think this is their strongest offensive lineup,
but it 100% is a small ball lineup.
So the Lakers have went to their
small ball defensive lineup.
The Warriors are playing a small ball lineup
with a combination of defenders and scorers.
And I think Steve Kerr has been doing a really good job
of putting the right sets in at the right time.
And so even though this is for the Warriors,
looks like a very odd mix of players currently in the game
with Wiggins, Bazemore, Wanamaker,
and I think that's Draymond and Curry.
That kind of seemed like an odd mix,
but I think he's situational circumstances in the game.
I think he's learned his smartest late game lineups.
One of the biggest changes that I've seen him make
is in late game situations in the fourth quarter,
he's going to Brad Wanamaker a lot.
This is the 31-year-old point guard,
just a very solid veteran guard
who just doesn't make a lot of mistakes.
He knows how to execute late game sets.
Same with Bazemore.
You can trust him to make open shots.
And then obviously Wiggins just caught fire.
And then you obviously need Draymond and Curry on the court.
So this is one thing you want to really pay attention to
with Steph Curry.
And when you look at the Warriors, man,
they played, they literally played 10 guys tonight.
10 guys played double-digit minutes.
I mean, Bazemore played 13.
That was the fewest.
So out of the 10 guys that played,
Bazemore played the fewest minutes at 13.
Everyone on the bench played either 18 minutes or more.
The balance there.
So Steve Curry trusts these guys.
And what he's doing is he's going with his best lineups
in certain circumstances,
and he's just allowing guys to go out there
and win the game.
He's trusting his team.
Again, the things that Steve Curry is doing now,
it's going to pay a lot of dividends
later on in the season.
Again, it may not look like it now,
but when you look later on in the season,
it's going to start paying a lot of dividends.
And then again, a defensive,
a defensive, you know,
just a defensive lapse by Montrez Herro.
I mean, you let Wanamaker,
that has to at least be a foul.
That has to be at least a foul
sending them to the free throw line.
Did you get there?
No, you know, that has to be a foul.
Right there.
You know you're beat, Montrez Herro.
AD got beat.
AD can't foul.
Obviously he's the better player.
Montrez Herro, you just got to foul him,
make him miss the layup.
He's going to have to earn those at the free throw line.
Transition D again.
Transition defense for the Lakers
has continuously been a problem.
I showed you guys a play earlier
that started off the third quarter
that shows you that's transition D
where Schroeder just completely fell asleep.
Here's another play right here
where we can easily identify who fell asleep.
Let's go back and pull this up.
All right.
So obviously we know that Warriors love to push immediately.
All right, push immediately.
We see Schroeder calling out these assignments,
but who missed their assignment?
All right, then we're going to look again.
Who is it?
It's Schroeder again.
I keep telling y'all.
I mean, this is the positive of having Schroeder
is that he brings a lot of energy.
He brings some great half court D.
He brings good playmaking.
But look in his late game set,
I've showed you two plays,
actually three plays that have all involved Schroeder
falling asleep, having major defensive lapses.
Obviously you want to worry about Steph Curry,
but you cannot release off a guy like Brad Wanamaker
knowing that he's uncovered,
knowing that you don't have any help behind you
and just allow him to get a free layup
at the rim right here.
And then Schroeder falls asleep and he gets the layup.
Another defensive lapse by LeBron James.
All right, this team,
this Laker team in the fourth quarter looks tired.
This Laker team in the fourth quarter looks tired to me
because this was a help assignment
where LeBron should have easily stepped in
to take away that passing lane.
And you got Draymond Green on the strong side corner.
If you know your personnel, as smart as LeBron James is,
you got to know that I'm going to allow Draymond Green
to take that corner three
before I allow Steph to get to the rim.
All right, you have to, you have to see that.
All right, now we're going to let this play evolve.
Steph Curry obviously is going to blow by AD
any day of the week.
LeBron James needs to see that mismatch.
LeBron James has to speed in athleticism
to get to the top of the circle here for a charge.
All right, you have to.
This is your help assignment, LeBron James.
This is your help assignment.
All right, but what happens when you get older?
You get more tired,
you're not as energetic in the fourth quarter,
or you're not as bouncy.
All right, even mentally, even mentally,
mentally you may be thinking, I need to slide over,
but your body's just saying, I don't have it,
I don't have it, you know, I don't have it to get,
I don't have the energy to get over there.
And that's kind of what happened here
because LeBron James literally gives up on the play.
AD's still giving max effort.
All right, everybody else is doing their job.
LeBron James completely gives no energy and effort
to get in and stop this play.
So when we look at some of the things
that cost the Lakers this game,
what LeBron was basically doing right here
was basically playing the score.
He's saying, we got the lead,
we're just gonna coast out to the lead.
Maybe we'll just trade buckets until the end of the game,
and we'll just coast out with a close win.
All right, but now you get an and one layup at the rim.
All right, Curry's gonna be able to cut the lead down
to four points.
And now you're playing with a team
that has all of the energy and pace going in their favor.
Another mistake right here.
LeBron James, and it involves LeBron James
and Dennis Schroeder.
Lazy pass, what did I tell y'all about the Warriors?
They play from start to finish.
You have to stay laser focused playing this team
from start to finish,
unless you just have completely blown them out.
And as the Warriors continue to figure it out,
as they continue to figure out what their true identity is,
it's gonna get harder and harder to beat this team.
I mean, we can all say that this is not the same team
and they're not gonna be great.
The video tells a completely different story.
All right, the video all year long
has shown that the Lakers get lazy
in the third and fourth quarters.
They give up leads and they try to coast out to victories
by trading buckets.
LeBron James throws a lazy pass to Schroeder.
Kelly Oubre with great defensive energy
forces the turnover.
You know, again, you gotta call LeBron James out
when he does stuff like this
because he's the leader of the team.
All right, there's no one else he can blame but himself.
Lazy pass, lazy pass when Kuzma's standing right there.
Kuzma's standing right here wide open.
Oh, LeBron, you just gotta be better than that.
Again, play number two.
This is probably, this is another play that I can look to.
Cost him the game right here.
This changes the momentum.
That's a lot of time on the clock, all right?
Turnover.
Great execution off the ATO.
Oubre gets straight to the rim.
Again, another defensive lapse.
And we gotta look at this again
because again, you're talking about a guy like Draymond Green
you know, he can't beat you on this play.
You can't let Draymond, give up the jumper
but you can't let Draymond Green get to the rim
if you're the Lakers.
I mean, great awareness by Draymond.
Way to get to the rim because I know Draymond,
we all know Draymond is thinking pass.
I'm thinking, hey, Draymond's thinking
I'm gonna have to pass this.
AD's about to jump and block this shot.
I know he's thinking dump down pass to Looney.
I know he's thinking it, all right?
But how did this even evolve?
How did he get beat?
All right, let's pull, let's see that.
All right, so off the pick and roll, no communication.
So one thing that I've told y'all even in past videos
is when you're guarding a pick and roll in the NBA
if you can pull two defenders above the three point line
you're going to destroy them in the pick and roll
because now James can never recover.
This means right, what I see right here out of the Lakers
is that LeBron James and Schroeder
aren't communicating defensively.
They're not talking this out.
They're not, with Draymond you should always ice a screen.
You don't need to hedge or anything.
You just need to ice.
You need to ice and you're able to close out and recover
because he's not the greatest three point shooter.
Why LeBron James?
Again, just like I caught out with the Clippers
and we showed Zubac and those guys
playing above the three point line
and how they consistently got picked apart and destroyed.
The Warriors do a great job baiting teams
into bringing multiple defenders above the three point line
out of their pick and roll set.
All right, and even with a guy like Draymond
on the receiving end of this pick and roll
he can still burn you
because he's still a high IQ offensive player.
So LeBron James makes a low defensive IQ play
in extending himself above the three point line.
All right, Schroeder has Curry well guarded.
All right, Schroeder can run him down
this baseline right here.
That's fine.
You still got AD to help in that middle.
So LeBron, you're trying to do too much right now.
All right, LeBron is trying to do too much.
That's facts.
Let's play.
And now LeBron James got caught in the street
trying to do too much.
Steph Curry's a great passer.
He sees that LeBron James is out of position.
Draymond Green, even though he's much slower than LeBron
because LeBron is out of position, he blows right past him.
AD has to try to help.
But AD, you know, again, late game,
the Lakers look tired.
AD didn't even go to contest that shot.
Wouldn't have really mattered.
He would have dumped it off to Looney if he did contest it.
But again, there's no contest.
But I can see why AD is tired
because he's been scrambling around all night
trying to play help defense with people
because of so many blown defensive assignments
by the Lakers.
All right, pick and roll.
Now AD, what did AD do smart right here, y'all?
AD stayed below the three point line, okay?
All right, I still think AD's playing slightly too high.
I think you gotta bring the help
from somewhere else off this pick.
But AD is at least behind the three point line.
I don't know how much of a dividend
he's actually gonna play
because again, I still feel he's too high.
All right, you gotta keep guys like Draymond and Steph
in front of you.
All right, you got Steph in front of you.
You gotta have eyes on Draymond.
Eyes have to be on Draymond.
You can call him whatever you want.
You can say he's a scrub, whatever you want.
But he's still one of those players
you have to know where he is on the floor at all times.
All right, and Curry finds him again.
Oh, and a lot of people said he travels.
Let's go back and reevaluate that
because I don't think he traveled.
I think his pivot foot stayed.
All right, I think his pivot foot stayed.
All right.
And his pivot, he did drag his foot slightly.
And this is a missed call.
Now, as I told y'all before,
refs miss calls all the time.
Did the Lakers lose this game
because of this one single call?
Or was it because of the multitude of defensive mistakes
that I pointed out starting at the beginning
of the third quarter that cost them this game?
See, if you put yourself in a situation
where a ref can actually blow a call like this,
especially, you're talking about a Laker team
that was up, what, 19 in this game,
and you blow the lead because of defensive gaffes,
you don't have any room to come back to this play
and say, oh, the refs missed this travel.
Yes, the refs missed this travel.
Refs are human.
Refs miss calls.
But there were a lot of other things
that the Lakers could have controlled
that could have prevented them from losing this game.
All right, but way to continue to play if you're Draymond.
Way to still finish it.
Planks to three.
Bucket.
Curry, Isis him right there.
Now we're gonna go back here on a switch.
You know, this is an ugly switch.
You never wanna see your big man, Anthony Davis,
stuck on a Steph Curry in a late game situation.
I think Anthony Davis did the best he could
in a bad situation, but by now it's too late.
Too much momentum going Golden State's way.
And now you give Steph Curry the opportunity to ice you.
And here we go right here.
Off the pick and roll.
And again, we gotta find a way to communicate better,
but on the flip side of that,
this is just what comes with when you have to guard a guy.
Like, to me, this play right here
is what separates Curry from Iverson.
See, because AD had to respect Steph Curry's ability
to drive.
If AD didn't respect Curry's ability to drive,
he wouldn't have sunk back into the lane.
So you have to not only respect his ability
to attack the rim,
but you also have to respect his ability
to shoot five feet behind the three-point line,
which AD can't even contest that,
even with his wingspan and height.
I mean, look coming off this screen right here.
Coming off this screen right here, perfect switch.
I mean, obviously you can use a guy like AD to switch.
He's athletic enough to switch.
All right, he did a great job of sinking into the lane.
That's great defense.
But this is just being the superior
and elite offensive player that Steph Curry is.
This is just pulling everything out of his bag.
All right, I keep telling y'all,
this is why he's not Iverson.
This is why he's way better than Iverson.
Because for as great as Iverson was,
as far as attacking the rim,
he didn't, nobody had to worry about Iverson
doing this right here.
Game.
LeBron James at the free throw line,
makes the free throw, cuts it to three.
Shoulder makes the free throw.
Wow.
All right, there y'all guys have it right there.
Game final stats.
Man, the game final score was 115 to 113.
Golden State with the comeback victory.
As you guys saw, I mean,
from the start of the third quarter,
all throughout the fourth quarter,
the Los Angeles Lakers made a multitude
of defensive mistakes.
And this is not just something that's just happened
in this one game.
These mistakes have been happening for the Lakers
all year in all 15 games that they've played.
All right, they get big leads.
They allow teams to come back.
And depending on the caliber of team that they're playing,
they just try to trade buckets
until the final buzzer sounds.
All right, and tonight that strategy did not work.
All right, for the Lakers, man,
you got Anthony Davis who played a great game.
I mean, offensively,
Draymond Green was able to slow him down.
He had 17 points, 6-16 from the field,
0-1 from the three,
but he did have 17 rebounds and seven assists.
So again, that was a little bit of give and take there.
You turn Anthony Davis into more of a playmaker
and he was effectively a solid playmaker tonight.
You got LeBron James, again, quiet and normal,
also 6-16 from the field, 2-7 from the three-point line,
19 points, five rebounds, five assists.
Again, not the numbers that we're used to seeing from him.
Marc Gasol, man, he's not the player
that I thought he would be defensively either.
He hasn't shown me any flashes.
Hopefully he can get it together,
but only five points, not really strong night.
Got Schroeder.
Schroeder with 25 points, 8-15 from the field.
Great game for him,
but as you guys saw, for as great of a game as he played,
he had a lot of defensive mishaps
that cost his team the game.
All right, so, I mean, for a lot of your standard fans,
a lot of your general fans would be like,
oh, Schroeder balled out.
Yeah, he, Schroeder balled out,
but at the same time,
Schroeder made a lot of bonehead mistakes
that cost him the game.
All right, so make sure, again,
make sure you do your research.
Let's not just watch the offensive side of the ball.
Pay attention to the defensive side of the ball,
because there's a lot of things you can miss if you don't.
Caldwell Pope, a quiet game as well himself.
Lakers did have help off the bench,
15 from Kuzma, 17 from Harrell.
Not much from all of the other guys.
Four, for the Clippers, man, we got,
we got, man, we got Curry and Oubre,
both over 20 points.
Curry with 26, eight of 22 from the field.
Struggled again from the three-point line, three of 12,
but man, when you're able to pull out wins
and Curry shoots, you know, underwhelming,
it's not very good.
When you're still able to pull out the win,
that's a great game.
Oubre in 37 minutes.
It looks like this man is finding his game.
He struggled from the three-point line,
but he was nine of 18 from the field.
50% there, 23 points.
Wiggins with 18, 7-11.
Highly efficient for Wiggins.
Great defensively.
Draymond Green with another near triple-double.
I mean, hey, you can call the man single,
missed triple, single, all you want,
but the man with seven points, eight rebounds, nine assists.
I mean, what can you really complain about?
All right?
With one steal, you can't really complain
about that stat line.
31 minutes, he was probably one of your best defenders
on the court.
And then off the bench, man, off the bench.
I love what Eric Paschal is doing.
Eric Paschal with 19 off the bench.
They kind of did it by committee.
Looney with seven.
Bazemore with four.
Wanamaker with four.
And Damian Lee with three.
Quiet game for him.
But the Warriors, man, their defensive prowess
helped them pull out the win.
And again, this is important.
This is an important win for the Warriors
because they're about to come up
on a tough stretch of road games.
And it's always good to start that stretch of road games
off with a really positive win like this.
So this win actually could trigger
and unleash a number of things for this team going forward.
Help them give them a little bit of cushion
into some of these other games.
So you guys, let me know what you think about the Warriors.
Let me know what you think about the Lakers.
I saw some things that were a bit concerning.
Late game, the Lakers look tired.
They don't look as deep as they do on paper.
On paper, when you look at this Laker team,
they look extremely deep.
But they're having to play Schroeder over 30 minutes.
They're having to play Montrez Harrell close to 30 minutes.
AD and LeBron James both played close to 40 minutes.
So they were completely gassed.
Mark Gasol is essentially unplayable.
So those minutes right there
where he could give guys rest,
guys aren't getting the rest.
I don't know what's going on with Morris,
but Morris seems to be unplayable.
Caruso with 20 minutes,
but he was ineffective in those 20 minutes.
And Wesley Matthews, again, just kind of a shell of himself,
ineffective in his 15 minutes of play.
There were other guys that didn't play.
I would have loved to see the Lakers use Aaron McKinney
or even Tyler Horton Tucker.
Tyler Horton Tucker was a DNP, didn't play any minutes.
Like, why you don't play Tyler Horton Tucker
against this Warrior team
that sometimes struggles to guard the perimeter?
I don't know.
But again, Vogel, we gotta figure this out.
Hopefully they can get it figured out.
But I don't think guys like Tyler Horton Tucker,
I don't think he should ever be a DNP
as well as he's played.
Never should be a DNP.
So hopefully they can get it figured out.
But on the day, man, the Lakers shot 31%
from the three-point line, 48% from the field.
Or the Warriors shot 32% from the three-point line,
but 50% from the field, they come out with the victory.
So again, if you're in the live stream watching this video,
let us know what you think, all right?
If you're watching this video after it premieres,
just let me know in the comments,
what do you think about LeBron James' effort
along with Schroeder's defensive problems, all right?
I think that's gonna be big going down
and going down the stretch of the season.
Like, a lot of people can look at it
and act as if it's not something to worry about.
Some of these late-game scenarios that I see,
these late-game scenarios start to become habits, all right?
That's the problem.
You start to make these habits
of how you play in the fourth quarter,
and it's become a bad, it's become something that's,
it's just becoming too frequent for the Lakers.
And the Warriors seem to be picking it up.
Now, a lot of people can look at that record,
seven to six, and say, oh, they're trash.
But man, they look like they are improving,
and they're beating some of the top teams
in the NBA while doing so.
But hey, it's been FYF Sports.
Man, it's been another great NBA film study video.
I mean, hope you guys got something out of it,
research purposes only.
Make sure you guys, before you come into the live streams,
do your research, all right?
If you got something that you wanna talk about,
debate about, speak on, just come with your research,
do your research yourself, all right?
Hit the link in the panel, you guys.
A lot of you guys are still asking me,
how do I get on the live panel?
If you wanna come on to the live panel,
you don't have to ask.
When I put the link in the chat,
that link is for everybody, all right?
And if you are new and you're having trouble getting in,
let's say the panel's full,
just put a message in the chat.
I'll make room for you to come in
because the one thing that I enjoy most
is seeing new faces in the panel, hearing new voices.
I mean, I love the multitude of opinions
that comes here to FYF Sports.
Again, this is not unlike other channels.
We're not gonna cuss you out.
We're not gonna denigrate you for your opinion.
Again, it's all basketball over here.
It's all basketball over here,
and we're just here to discuss that.
Basketball, sports, life, whatever you wanna touch on,
we're here to help you guys with that.
So make sure you guys also join the Facebook group, y'all.
NBA Go Talks presented by FYF Sports.
Go to Facebook, go join that group.
Again, we stream on Facebook as well.
We stream on Facebook as well.
All right, we stream our videos on our website as well.
All right, so these are two different communities.
All right, on the website,
we have a lot of people over there
that you can interact with, all right?
On the live feeds,
if you kinda wanna get a different conversation,
you wanna see what people are saying
elsewhere outside of YouTube,
you can watch our live stream either from Facebook
or you can watch it from the website.
Again, we got great fan bases over there both,
so salute to everybody.
Wherever you find our channel,
wherever you watch our videos,
we appreciate the support for the channel, all right?
Also, and I have to say this as we round out the show,
look, we're really trying to get
this FYF Sports Community Basketball event off the ground.
All right, we have to get certain fees paid
to get locations for the event reserved.
All right, and the only way we can do that
is if we get this registration fee paid,
all right, by February 11th.
All right, if we miss that deadline,
it's gonna push the date back for the entire event.
I don't wanna have to do that,
so we have about 4,400 more dollars to raise,
all right, to put that deposit down on the event location.
So again, all donations are accepted.
We're looking to get that FYF Sports Community event
locked in, all right?
It's just 18,400 of you guys.
Everybody just, let's put in a dollar.
Let's put in $2 something
so we can make sure that this event happens, all right?
And once we get that event locked in,
that's when I'm gonna be reaching out to everybody
with regards to roster, who can play, who can't play.
We're also gonna be having a boxing event.
So if you're not into basketball,
that Saturday before the game,
we're gonna have a FYF Sports boxing event.
I mean, if the debates weren't enough,
if you got Ethan in a debate
and you feel like you can't out-debate somebody,
maybe you can put him in the boxing ring.
Maybe you can out-box him
and you can hash it out with the gloves and the headgear.
All right, but it's gonna be a fun time for everybody.
All right, I wanna make this an annual thing,
something that we do every year,
unlike any other channel.
All right, FYF Sports, we're looking to give back
to you guys, not just give back.
I want you guys to actively participate
in some of the things that we got going on.
But hey, it's FYF Sports, man.
It's been another great podcast episode.
Look forward to seeing you guys in the live stream tonight.
All right, we might go live slightly later
than we normally do,
but that's because we're getting this video
out a little later.
All right, but don't worry,
we're still gonna be going live.
So make sure you subscribe
and hit the notification bell
so you can know exactly when we go live.
Always check those community posts as well.
And if you follow us on Instagram,
if you follow us on Twitter,
you'll always know when we're going live as well
because it's always posted there early as well.
But it's FYF Sports, man.
It's been another great podcast episode.
