Skiing with Data - A pro's take on using Carv

Carve made me a lot to rethink certain things in my skiing.
My name is Uli. I work as a ski instructor since 24 years
and I'm based in Zermatt since 14 years now.
I got in touch with Carve three years ago on the Covid season and
then the idea was grown to do a cooperation with Zermatt so try out using Carve in the ski lesson.
A lot of things which I was taught for a long time always more or less always in the same way
I start change a little bit with Carve.
For example like how much weight you should apply to your outside ski
on the beginning of the turn on the end of the turn in different kind of snow situations
and also like I yeah focusing maybe edge similarity a little bit more or edge angle.
So Carve taught me to rethink what I'm doing in my lessons.
So if it's really value for my clients to keep on working on this movement
or if it might be a little bit more useful to do this and that.
So it really made me to readjust certain things in my lessons.
I mean if you start skiing if you start using Carve
you might see that some of the metrics are quite high
and some of the metrics maybe are not as high as you would wish
and therefore it gives you quite a direction where you could work on to increase your general skiing.
So to have a good solution for all different situations throughout the day.
There's not one important metric in our Carve.
All the metrics are quite important.
The difference between a good and a great skier is a good skier always skis quite in the same way
in each kind of situations.
A great skier can adapt his movements so even to doing better
some kind of movement in certain situations.
Therefore it's always worth to work on all your skiing abilities on all your movements.
So it's quite a nice feeling when you can play with the gravity.
When you really feel that the centrifugal forces have an impact on you
and then you can work with this.
I like to play with the edge angle when I have the right terrain for it
and I also like carving on steeper terrain a lot.
But I also like because for me a nice sensation in skiing is about to feel the dynamic of skiing
and therefore I like movement in skiing a lot.
I was wishing to have this kind of tool for my clients because just an example
sometimes they struggle a lot with the movement forward
and when I ask them please doing it and they always tell me no I'm doing it I'm doing it
but I had not really kind of an evidence.
So and then when Carve came up and when I tried it I was quite stoked about it
because this was the first time that you really can measure skiing.
