Hello
YouTubers of the universe
Sorry, I haven't posted in a while. I have been down with some kind of ick
Yes, that is a medical term. Today, we are going to be painting
this puppy
Just in time for Valentine's Day
How convenient?
Now, we're going to be painting this heart over a already textured background
We've textured it with tissue paper. If you need to learn how to
Texture a background with tissue paper, click on this video right here
Get your paints out, turn on some good music
So
Let's get going
Okay, jumping right in. We're going to first get some water and put it on the part
We're going to paint the heart first, and I'm just putting a coat of bright crimson red right down there on the entire heart
Love the vibrancy
Then I'm going to take some purple
And I'm going to put it on the left side blending it into the heart
Then I'm going to kind of do a border around the entire heart
But I want the left side to be a little bit darker
to give the appearance of a shadow
And you'll be able to see as we go on that I
Add
More layers as we go because the acrylic, which is what we're using here, the acrylic paint will get darker as it dries
so
If it gets too dark, which it did for me, you brighten it up a little bit later. Now, I'm going to take some
now
Washing my brush off. I'm going to take some white and I'm going to brighten up that
Right side of
The heart a little bit blended into that red, and I got some purple
Accentuating those edges of the heart again because I really want that heart to pop off of the paper
or of the canvas
So emphasizing that. Now, I'm dragging some of the paint along
the
Ridges that are formed by the tissue paper
Okay, now that dried so I'm going to do around the heart. Oh, no
I'm taking some red, doing some more layers inside because I want it just to be vibrant and bright
I don't want it so dark
and now I will
be doing around the heart. So getting it wet like we did with the heart and
I'm going to just take some green and some blue, bright green and
Bright light blue and just put it in random places on the canvas
Making that heart just pop out a little more.
I love it. I may have used a little too much water here
That's something I would have changed the second time. Adding some blue, but I wanted it to be extremely thin
so that
the texture of the tissue paper would pop out
So there's not a whole lot of rhyme or reason to where I'm putting the paint here
I'm just putting it where I think it would be pretty
And blending it in so there's no visible lines
Okay, now I've got some purple, the same purple we used in the heart and I'm putting it in some spots just around the heart
I want it
I'm putting it right there on the right side because I want it to kind of look like a drop shadow in the end
Okay, now I want to really
emphasize
the
Roundness of the heart. So I'm taking some white where I did the first time
But I'm just brightening it up a little bit more and then I'll blend it into some red around that white
just makes that heart kind of pop off the page and
Just nice and round. I'm putting some bright red on the left-hand side also
just to make it a little brighter and
Now I'm thinking what am I going to do next?
Now I'm going to get some of the same purple on the side of my brush
Not necessarily the tip. It's on the side and I'm just gonna rub the side of the brush
along the ridges and the texture of the tissue paper and you can notice that I'm not
My brush is not pointed straight down at the paper because I don't want the tip
Rubbing the paper. I want our rubbing the canvas. I want
the
Flat side of the brush rubbing it. So I'm just gonna do this along
all of the tissue paper and you can see it just creates a lot of depth and a beautiful effect if you want you can
use different colors, but I just use purple and then
and then
Now I'm gonna do the same thing inside of the heart with the ridges
I did this before but then I kind of covered it up and
so I'm gonna
Emphasize the texture by rubbing the flat edge of my brush with purple on it
over those ridges. Now, I'm going around the edges of the heart and
I'm putting a line of
The purple and then I'm going to kind of dab and brush it in toward the center
so that it blends in it doesn't just look like a
Solid line. It kind of gives it
just added extra depth and this heart is round and
big and beautiful. Now, I'm adding a string so I'm just
Painting a line straight up. You'll notice that I'm dabbing and that's because with the texture of the tissue paper
It's harder just to paint a straight line. Now, I'm doing a bow
Same technique, nothing fancy just a solid line
I'll do kind of like a curly and
Tie the same thing to the other side
I wanted this one to be a little bit bigger because I didn't want it to be perfectly symmetrical
And that's totally a preference thing which everything is
Okay, now I'm going to take the same purple and I'm going to create a vignette or a dark around the edges
And so I'm just brushing and dabbing in toward the center of the painting not too far
Like you can see just on the edges and you can make this as thick or thin as you want
Just just gives it that extra depth
So I do this along the whole all of the edges on the corners
I kind of like to put a little bit one side to the other and
There it is. We are done. I hope you guys enjoyed this. Thanks for watching
