Experience Japanese rural life in Noto Peninsula
Farm families in rural Ishikawa have opened their homes to overnight guests. These unique stays are a valuable opportunity to experience the old-fashioned farming lifestyles of rural Japan, alongside the beautiful natural scenery and warm hospitality of Ishikawa.
I wanted to stay here because when we are traveling around Japan we like to think about
what's available and what experience would be like. When I think of staying in a place like this,
like a farmhouse and an old Japanese-style house, I would have an opportunity to experience things I
would never be able to get in a hotel. When you meet the local people and you see their way of
life, you see into Japan, you see real Japan. We went for sanzai, the vegetable picking,
and that was also really fun and using that we made mochi. It's so amazing because the kind of
warmth, and you don't have to necessarily speak the language, it's just the gesture,
it's just the aura of the person, the energy of the person, and that's very special.
I think one of the biggest differences that is really part of the local community is that
connection, that how close staying here makes you to life in the local community.
What is really interesting in a place like this is when you stay with a local person,
you can have a conversation because you can share your observations about your day or like
how you got to that place and you can talk about, oh this is what I noticed about,
you know, this is what Japanese people do. It opens your worldview, it expands your horizon,
you become more accepting, you become more appreciative of what you have, what other people
have. Every experience was so beautiful and it definitely changed us for the better.
The opportunities that were handed to us are wholly unique
and very special and will be a memory that we will take on for a very, very long time.
