Adventure Riding Australia - Blue Rag

One of the highlights of the trip was traversing Blue Rag, an iconic ridge top trail that culminates in a very steep section before opening to a wonderful look out. Our highest point for the trip at 1,700 metres; as our New Zealand friend says....'mere pimples', or was that, 'pumples.' You'll notice that all the trees are dead for as far as the eye can see, victims of a series of ferocious wild fires. These trees are called Mountain Ash. An extremely hard resilient wood, resistant to rotting. It is expected the tree will remaining standing for up to 200 hundred years. In the meantime saplings will grow from under ground tubers to replace them.
