I finally understand why it's called a firework show.
There's no gold in the Golden Week.
It's so depressing.
We can't even eat.
What's there to be afraid of?
Too bad it's too late.
May 1st, please write a letter to ask for the Six Demands.
Hello everyone.
It's Hong Kong time today.
May 2nd, Thursday.
I'm Wing In.
To report the truth,
we need courage to face the reality.
We need your strong support.
If you like our show,
please like, share, leave a comment,
and press the super thanks button
to help us keep going.
I didn't understand before
why the Hong Kong Law Enforcement Agency
wanted to make fireworks show
into a firework show.
It turns out that our Hong Kong Law Enforcement Agency
has a good reason.
According to the law,
the Hong Kong Law Enforcement Agency
organized the first firework show
On the night of May 1st,
it was a romantic performance in the mist of smoke and rain.
Many people went to the scene early in the morning
to wait for the show.
However,
when the fireworks were lit,
the fireworks were too intense
to be compared to a wooden knife.
It was too intense.
Or was it because it was raining heavily that day?
In short,
this story is a 10-minute firework show.
The citizens and tourists
could only see the thick smoke.
They could only see
the beautiful scene of the fireworks.
Some mainland tourists
were deceived after watching the fireworks show.
One of the tourists said
he waited for more than an hour
and was forced to stay on the shore with more than 100,000 people.
He didn't think about it until he saw the smoke.
In fact, who lied to you?
It's a firework show,
not a firework show.
Now there is smoke and fire,
one set of fire, one fire.
It's just right.
No complaint.
This time we really have to praise
our Hong Kong Law Enforcement Agency.
Because they announced so early
that this time it was a firework show.
Only smoke and fire,
but no fireworks.
I don't know why,
when I saw this,
my memories of 2019 came back.
The Hong Kong government has placed the hope
of boosting the economy on mainland tourists.
What is the truth?
The Law Enforcement Agency interviewed
some Hong Kong businessmen who run retail business.
They found that there were no signs of purple
in the bankruptcy of shops and shops.
Various factors added
to the death of local retail businesses.
Economic recovery may only be empty talk.
The Law Enforcement Agency interviewed a 48-year-old
Mr. Yu, who opened a Japanese gift shop in Mong Kok.
Mr. Yu's shop has been in business for 12 years,
witnessing the decline of Hong Kong's tourism industry.
At first, the shops in Mong Kok were in decline,
and the population was growing.
Today, 12 years later,
many shops have closed,
and the population has declined.
There is no longer much competition between overseas and mainland tourists.
Hong Kong people go to the north to shop.
Tourists are greatly reduced on all roads.
Mr. Yu had to decide
Mr. Yu said in his dream,
I want to cry when I think of this.
There are very few tourists on the street,
and there are very few mainland tourists.
Although the government is trying to restore the situation,
for foreign businessmen in the dream,
mainland tourists are poor in Hong Kong.
At the same time,
the rent of shops is still high.
Immigration has led to a shortage of labor,
and economic recovery is difficult.
Many businessmen described
that the shopping atmosphere in Hong Kong is dead.
Legislative Council Member Wang Chun-shek said
that the number of cases of Hong Kong's first cancellation company in 2024
exceeded 20,000,
more than 70% more than last year.
Hong Kong Food and Beverage Association Chairman Wong Kar-wok said
that there are about 200 to 300 restaurants
He believes that this recession will continue.
Recently, two cinemas in Hong Kong have been closed in succession.
Can the Golden Week of May 1 bring a peak in consumption?
Businesses said they had little hope.
A 54-year-old lady who works at a noodle shop on Wong Kong Women's Street said,
The Golden Week is not profitable.
There used to be a lot of tourists on this street,
but now it's gone.
On the first day of the Golden Week of May 1,
until 9 p.m. on the afternoon of the following day,
a total of 68.9 million people
were reported to the Hong Kong Metropolitan Government
for going to and returning from the police station.
Of these, only 17.3 million mainland tourists returned to the police station,
less than 1 million people expected to enter and leave the police station earlier.
Some Hong Kong tourists said they would stay in Shenzhen at night
because the hotel prices in Shenzhen
are only one-third of those in Hong Kong.
Analysts said that the mainland economy is changing badly.
The Hong Kong government has placed the hope of revitalizing the economy
in the hands of its compatriots.
If you don't remember the former Prime Minister Li Keqiang,
China has a population of 600 million and an income of only 1,000 RMB.
In December last year,
Chinese economist and economist Li Xunlei
said on the 1st Financial Weekly that
China has a population of 9.64 billion
and an income of less than 2,000 RMB.
Even if the government set off fireworks every day,
would not help the economy.
This year's May 1st Labor Day is the Lai Paimou parade.
New Hong Kong, which is full of trouble and chaos,
can't swim even if it wants to.
The prostitute Lui Yuk-lin continues her one-man action.
Departing from Tongluo Bay,
she walks to the Government Headquarters in Kinmen.
Her head and legs are covered with bitter gourd.
The workers from head to toe
shout,
eat a bowl of porridge
until the back of the waist is sore, etc.
More than 10 police officers followed closely.
A woman with only two bitter gourds
doesn't need to exert so much force.
Lui Yuk-lin is right.
This year's May 1st Labor Day
is also the first Labor Day in Hong Kong
when a large number of foreigners enter Hong Kong.
Among them, in the steel industry,
the official figures show that 712 foreigners have entered.
Although the authorities said
that before entering the industry,
it was in line with a series of conditions
to protect local workers.
However, since last month,
more than 100 local steel workers have said
that they are unemployed and have little work.
Last night, there were more than 600 steel workers
queuing on Wong Kok Street
and going back and forth.
Next, they considered
to act with other workers.
They said,
there is nothing to do,
what is there to be afraid of?
Although there are a large number of recruitment ads in the steel industry,
on the surface,
it seems that the industry is unemployed.
However, when I interviewed many unemployed steel workers,
they said that the recruitment ads are not as good as expected.
Among them, last month,
the workers gathered to apply for jobs in the construction industry.
In the end, no one said that they could successfully apply for jobs.
Mr. Wai Wai Ko,
a senior teacher of the steel industry, said
that many steel workers have many years of experience.
In the past, they relied on their connections,
so they were basically unemployed.
But now they are unemployed.
When applying for a job,
the employer asked for a license,
otherwise, they would be unemployed.
Wai Wai Ko saw a group of unemployed steel workers.
They have been steel workers for more than 10 years,
they know how to look at pictures,
they know how to hire people,
they know how to work.
If you don't want to hire them,
then who do you want to hire?
Do you want the workers to speak Mandarin
and not understand each other
so that they can be qualified?
Another steel worker, Mr. Loh, said
that when he saw the workers working in the field,
he would be asked to rest the next day.
Mr. Loh said,
the employer didn't fire you,
but he just counted the days with you.
You should be grateful to him.
Wai Wai Ko doesn't believe that
the field now corresponds to a one-to-two ratio.
It's easy for him to calculate.
I have 5,000 local workers,
so I hire 2,500 steel workers.
But those 5,000 local workers
may have 4,800 who have retired
or stopped working.
Oh, the local workers don't work,
and they have to keep hiring.
Without him,
business conflicts,
profits are lost.
Poor workers,
they have to work from head to toe.
But sometimes,
it's too late for things to affect you
before you speak up.
Since 2020,
Hong Kong has no more large-scale marches.
Even labor marches have been banned.
This year, on 1 May,
the People's Communist Party of Hong Kong
invited four people to the public square
Even though it was a four-person march,
20 police officers were detained.
The People's Communist Party of Hong Kong
raised six demands to protect labor rights,
and said that the government's method of calculating
the lowest wage was out of date.
If we want to ensure that the people
are not deprived of their lives because of poverty,
the lowest wage this year should be 61.5 yuan.
The newspaper also said that
Hong Kong's working hours are the largest in the world,
and the work-life ratio is so high.
The social costs behind
the impact on life, health, and family
are often neglected.
If we include the time it takes
for workers to get to and from their workplaces
into the calculation,
the labor market will be more terrible every day.
Since 2020,
Hong Kong has not been able to hold a labor day march,
which is very disappointing.
On 1 May,
the two major economic and labor groups
of Hong Kong, the Workers' Union and the Workers' Union,
said that they would not hold a march.
As Xia Bolong said,
the march is not the only way to express
The demands for benefits, such as environmental protection and livelihood,
are easy to be intercepted.
The Workers' Union believes
that Hong Kong has entered the stage of childhood and youth,
so it will not hold a 51-day march this year.
The 5-day march does not mean that the environment has improved.
The social media said
that the labor conditions and livelihoods of Hong Kong workers
are constantly deteriorating.
The actual wages of Hong Kong workers
rose by 26.9%
but after the same period,
Hong Kong's GDP was cut off from inflation,
the market price calculation for 2023
increased by nearly 1.7 times.
Therefore, the root of the deep-seated contradiction
of the poverty problem in Hong Kong
is that the lowest wages are so low
that the workers cannot live on labor.
The social media criticized
that the SAR government has always asked the boss to be generous,
and that the rights of the workers should be changed.
The standard working hours have not improved in 12 years,
but the income outlays and cutbacks
that the financial group and the boss have made
have been pushed forward at a surprising pace.
On 1 May, the government announced
that it would accept the suggestion of the lowest-wage committee
to introduce the non-cut-off mechanism.
The lowest wages only increased from HK$1.8 to HK$41.8.
The news said that the government
blocked the mouth of the workers with the lowest wages,
and actually made the lowest wages invalid.
Calculated at HK$41.8 per hour,
workers work 26 days a month,
8 hours a day.
After deducting the forced labor,
the monthly income is only HK$9,152.
The lowest wage is actually a poor wage.
In 2018, the lowest-wage committee
has suggested that the living wage should be established
to meet basic needs such as food, housing, and medical care.
The living wage this year should be HK$61.5.
The news said that this kind of personalized reference
is more appropriate than the government's method,
and can further highlight the low-wage labor
and improve the working life.
Finally, the news asked the government to make 6 demands,
including 1. Establish standard working hours,
2. Ask for retirement insurance and unemployment benefits,
3. Establish collective bargaining rights,
4. Reduce the minimum wage to HK$61.5,
5. Stop importing foreign labor,
6. Improve labor treatment,
7. Establish other labor-related safety measures as soon as possible,
8. Fulfill the promise of the 27th Basic Law to Hong Kong people.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching. See you tomorrow.
