There are some travel essentials I never forget to pack. In today's video I'm going to be sharing
seven travel essentials that you need for every long trip. Packing for a long trip can be really
difficult because you don't want to pack too much stuff but there are just some things that you do
not want to travel without. So today I've compiled a list of seven things that I do not travel
especially for those long international trips. My favorite item on this list is something that
comes completely free and it will completely change the way you travel especially on those
long travel days in the airport. Let's get into these seven essential travel items. Item number
one which is the Scrubba wash bag. This is something that is a little bit newer to my
packing list but I can tell you would not be leaving it especially for those long trips.
We all know when you're packing for an extended journey clothes take up a majority of your space
so it can be really nice if you can actually wash your clothes while you're on the road
so that way you don't have to pack quite as much. Before I came across the Scrubba wash bag I
actually used to do this just in the sink with my socks and underwear but now this tool has kind of
revolutionized that entire experience. What's also really nice about this is I kind of use it as my
dirty laundry bag so that way if I have any stinky sweaty dirty clothes I can just go ahead and put
these right in here while I'm moving about so that way my clean clothes don't get dirty and
then when I'm ready to wash it I just go ahead and fill it up and get to work. Now let me show you
how to use this thing. It's very simple to use and even if you do forget what's nice is all the
instructions are right here on the bag. You're going to start by filling up the bag with your
Then you're going to fill it with water to the fill line. You want to make sure you don't fill
it too much because the clothes won't wash quite as well. Then you're going to roll the top down
clip it so that way it has an airtight seal. You're going to lay it on its side and then there's going
to be a deflate kind of nozzle. You're going to open that up and deflate the air out. From there
you're going to rub it around. You can do this for 30 seconds or up to three minutes. The reason this
is so great and gets your clothes so clean is on the inside of this bag they have this kind of
washboard like material with kind of little nodules that are going to disturb and agitate the clothes
so that way you can get some of the dirt and sweat out of them. After that it's quite simple
you're going to rinse it a few times and then hang your clothes to dry. A little pro tip for you is I
also use this paper soap for my washing soap so that way I don't have to carry around a bunch of
liquid soap. I just throw about four or five or six sheets of this paper soap and I found it to
do a great job again saving you a little bit of space and weight when you're traveling around
so you don't have to carry a bunch of soap. But if you're somebody that's looking to travel for a
time without bringing tons of clothes I would highly recommend this Scrubba wash bag. Item number
two and that is a water bottle. As we know it's really important to stay hydrated when you're
traveling especially when you're doing those long haul travel days so having some sort of container
to put water in can be really really nice. It also might save you a bit of money from buying bottles
of water all the time. Recently I've been using this water bottle from Platypus. It's just kind
of this plastic collapsible water bottle. I like it because it's super lightweight, it's quite
affordable, it's a good size and it packs up super nicely so I can just slide it in my backpack when
I'm not using it. Other options that I've traveled with and really like are just a simple Nalgene.
Again these are pretty tough you don't have to worry about them breaking. Quite affordable and
a good size. I've also traveled with a simple blender bottle or shaker bottle. Meg and I like
to work out when we travel so this way we can not only shake up our protein shake but just use it
as a water bottle as well. They're cheap you don't have to worry about losing them. Item number three
and that is a shampoo bar. I love this thing. This has probably been my most used travel item as of
late and believe it or not I actually use this almost every single day at home because I bring
this to the gym to shower with after working out because it's just so convenient. So right now I
have it in this bag from a company called Matador. It's like their travel soap bag. I don't know if
it's exactly called that but I'll make sure to link it below and inside I just have this lush
shampoo bar but it works great. It lasts an incredibly long time like I've had this one
right here for like two months and it still kind of looks barely worn down. Lasts forever so I
really like this one. There's tons of great options out there but a solid shampoo bar can not only save
you space while you're traveling you don't have to worry about it with TSA and it's just really
really convenient. This shampoo or not the shampoo this soap bag as well is pretty nice because
I can go ahead and put my wet bar in here when I'm done showering and it kind of dries. It has
like this technology where it dries through the bag and I have put that to the test quite a bit
and it does a great job. So that way when you go to use it again you don't have to pull out like
this wet damp moist shampoo bar. It's nice and dry for your next use. So I'd highly recommend
looking into this as well. It's pretty affordable and it's a nice little combo here. Item number
four which is a crossbody bag or a money belt. Let's start with the money belt because that's
what I personally use the most though I am starting to switch over to team crossbody bag.
A money belt is great for especially like international travel really any travel at all
being that it keeps important documents your passport your wallet money a little bit more
incognito being that it rests right against your body. So you can wear it with a t-shirt you don't
even notice when I'm wearing it. This one's a little grimy and beat up but I've literally had
this for like two years and this one's like really cheap really affordable. There's tons of different
variations out there but this is a great way like I said to carry some stuff all while keeping it
safe. Another option you could do is a crossbody bag. Now this is usually what Meg travels with
and it's great for all the same reasons that a money belt is but you get a little bit more space.
It's going to increase your safety a little bit more being that it's attached to you with a nice
thick strap especially if you're wearing it in front of you. It can be really hard to pickpocket
this. This one is from a company on Amazon. I don't really know how to say it it's like O-D-O-D-O-S
somebody help me with how to say that. I don't know how to say it but it's really high quality
and quite affordable. It's only like 12 bucks on Amazon and you might recognize this bag from the
same Lululemon bag. I think it's like their everywhere bag that is like literally double
the price. I think it's maybe close to 40 dollars. I actually have one right here and I think if I
were to cover up the logo on Lululemon on the Lululemon one you won't even be able to like
you won't even be able to tell the difference like they're exactly the same. It is quite
unbelievable so if you're looking for a little bit cheaper option than the Lululemon one I would
highly recommend looking into this one on Amazon. I'll link it below but again a crossbody bag or a
money belt is a great option especially for those long distance travels where you're carrying
important documents and things like that. Item number five and this one is completely free and
is going to revolutionize the way you travel especially on those long travel days in the
airport and that is a travel credit card and let me explain why this is going to make your travel
day so much better and right now my main kind of driver credit card the one that I use the most is
the Venture X from Capital One but the reason this travel card is so important when traveling
on those long travel days is because with this card I get lounge access and yes it is a hundred
percent free. Having access to airport lounges has completely changed my opinion on those long
travel days. If you've never been to an airport lounge first of all you will feel so spoiled.
I remember my first lounge I was like I don't think I should be here I don't belong here.
It is really a truly amazing experience and I highly encourage everyone to try to get access
to lounges because it is that amazing. You can get free food you can shower you can have a great
spot to work with outlets you don't have to search for outlets there's outlets everywhere
and lucky enough for you I partner with Daily Drop and I created an entire web page with all the
credit cards that are going to give you lounge access specifically priority pass lounge access
for just signing up for the card. I cannot stress how easy this is you don't have to meet some sort
of spend requirement you literally just have to get approved for the card and you will have
access to upwards of 1500 airport lounges worldwide. So check the link below I would
highly recommend getting a travel credit card for your next big trip because you will not regret it
I promise you. What are some travel essentials that you pack for your longer trips that you
could never travel without? Let me know down in the comments I would love to hear from you.
Item number six and that is a day pack. Now this one is definitely specific to our longer trips
but it's something that I will sometimes pack even on shorter trips but for sure longer trips.
A day pack is super nice when you're traveling long distance or on longer trips because we all
know it's not super fun to carry around your big carry-on or your big backpack all the time. It's
nice to have something where you can just put your cell phone a bottle of water maybe an extra layer
especially if you're doing some sort of like hike or day hike or even just some sort of excursion.
It's nice to have something to put your stuff in that isn't super heavy and super bulky. So I always
pack a day pack this one is from REI it's their flash 18 bag I like it it packs down really small
there's some other great options on the market but this one I've had for I don't know maybe like
seven years literally like seven years still in great shape and so that's why I kind of keep
using it no need to get a new one but this is really great. Another one that I use is this beast
now this is a dry pack now you might be thinking wow Ian that's crazy that takes up way too much
space and to be honest with you I wouldn't recommend this for everybody being that it is a
31 liter dry pack from Cline and I use this a lot when I travel especially long term for like a
month or two months being that it's super large and oftentimes when I'm traveling I'm doing some
sort of adventure so the added peace of mind of keeping all of my camera gear and stuff dry
is really really nice but either way having some sort of container outside your carry-on
and your personal item to carry stuff in when you're traveling is really really nice and comes
in handy a lot. Item number seven and this one is probably the most exciting one and that is a
battery bank just kidding this is by far the most boring one and to be honest I'm kind of bummed
that I'm saving it for last because it is so boring but it is something that is really useful
when you're traveling long distances I never travel without my battery bank for any trips
that are longer than a week being that across that week usually at some point I'm going to need an
extra charge whether it's from my phone camera computer things like that. This one is from
Anker I feel like I've mentioned Anker on my channel a bunch they make great products I have
no complaints I've had zero issues with their products so I keep recommending them this is a
nice sized one from Anker and it gets me like three or four full phone charges out of it so
it's pretty powerful as well but I would highly recommend if you're traveling for a longer period
of time adding a power bank to your packing list. There are so many awesome travel products out there
and I'm always looking to learn about new ones so let me know down in the comments things that you
don't travel without or maybe just some travel products that I need to try out I'm always looking
to improve my packing list so again let me know down in the comments some stuff I need to try out
I'm happy to learn and try new things. If you enjoyed this one I would highly recommend watching
the video we made about 14 items that we actually stopped packing kind of contrary to this video
we made an entire video about items that we really don't waste our money on anymore so I would
highly encourage you give that a watch because it gives you some good perspective on things you
maybe don't need to pack. Thanks for watching this one if you enjoyed it please please please give
it a thumbs up as well subscribe to our channel for more content like this we will see you in the
next video.
