I've never travelled Laos, or even considered it for that matter, but while in Vietnam I decided I was going to change that! After the Ha Giang Loop, I made my way to Laos and this is the first vlog from an awesome few weeks travelling this amazing country!
I have to say I can't advise anyone does this without having lunch dehydrated and kind of hung
over. It's a good way to sweat it out though. If you want to get through a hike just blast
angry heavy metal in your ears. Currently listening to Asking Alexandra. We're almost there
Oh wow. Pretty view. You can't see that can you? Pretty view. There's no one here. This isn't the
top is it? Fuck it's not the top. The top's up there. Jesus. Look at. Can you see that? Damn.
That's where we're going. Fuck me. Fuck me. Okay well it's quiet here and I need a break.
Let me catch you up from the last time you saw me. Okay so the last log you saw was me in
Haizang loop North Vietnam. We're now in Laos the country between Vietnam and Thailand. I think it
borders China as well maybe. I might have that wrong. So after Haizang loop I went back to
Hanoi. It's been like 48 ish hours in Hanoi. In fact no I literally spent 24 hours because I was
like I got there at 5am and at 6am I left the airport or 6am the next day I left the airport.
So barely spent any time in Hanoi. Went to the airport incredibly drunk because we went on a
night out and I just I don't know. I thought I was superman. I just got really drunk and then
got to the airport drunk which wasn't good. I got an hour of sleep.
Okay so it's ******* 6.30am. I slept through my arms and I'm running late to go to the airport.
Not massively late. I was 8 hours early anyway. But I stopped drinking like 4 hours ago.
Then I flew to Vientina. I think that's how you say it in Laos. Where I then proceeded to do
nothing for two and a half days. But after Hanoi, Haizang, that night out I just I needed
some recovery and there's not really anything to do in Vientina. How would you say it?
So did nothing. Then I met up with a couple of people from the Haizang loop because they're
also traveling Laos right now. And we then got a bus up to here which is Vang Vang if I'm saying
it right. We got here yesterday. Last night we then also went on another night out because we
were like 12 or 4. You know we'll have a few drinks. We'll get to know everyone in the hostel.
Kin Rai is a party hostel. Got absolutely obliterated and now I'm severely hung over.
I've spent my day hung over, sleep deprived, food deprived and water deprived. And now I'm
climbing up to a viewpoint to make my day feel productive because I hate being hung over while
I travel. 100% worth the hike. That is incredible. Okay see those clouds? I can hear thunder. I've
been hearing it for the last like 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure I just felt a raindrop as well.
And we're at the top of the cliff. So I'm gonna get back down and get back to the hostel now
before it starts raining. But Laos is gorgeous. I have no plans this country at all. I literally
decided I'm next to Laos. Let's go try Laos because people are very proud of it. I have
not researched it at all or anything like that. And so far it's been pretty sick. Excited to
what else happens in this couple weeks. But one more time looking at that view.
Yeah raindrops. All right let's go. There are so many people on their way up now.
And I'm sure they're heading up for the sunset because the sun sets for maybe like an hour.
Yeah the sun sets in about 40 minutes. I'm guessing all these people that are going up
now are heading up for that. I'm not sticking around for it. Those rumbles of thunder are
getting louder and louder and I'm not willing to get caught in the rain. I've done that enough
last few weeks and I'm sure it'll be a cool sunset. But that view was amazing. I'm happy
with that. So we're going down. Yelling timber.
