1775年4月19日，麻薩諸塞殖民地民兵與英國軍隊在勒星頓（Lexington）、康科德（Concord）一帶爆發戰鬥，打響了美國獨立戰爭的第一場重大戰役，並取得了振奮人心的勝利。
在這場戰役的250週年即將到來之際，麻州已經開始籌備重演這段歷史。4月19日中午，各界嘉賓齊聚「美國誕生之地」勒星頓，正式開啟週年慶的365天倒計時。
