Welcome back to my channel. If you're new here my name is Valeria and I'm doing
fitness and weight loss related content. But today I'm coming to you from Sicily,
Italy. I will be spending here two more weeks and I decided to take you
along with me on what I eat in a week in Sicily. I really like
food. I cook all the time at home low calorie
recipes for my weight loss journey but now I do not
count calories and I want to show you how the Sicilian
food is looking like and how the typical week
of eating can look like here for me. So we're here now in Taormina.
This is a quite famous town in Sicily and it has a lot of offers for
food and we are here early in the morning at 8
and we are going to start the morning with a typical Sicilian breakfast which
is granita and brioche and continue with other cafes famous
to try some other Sicilian specialties. So let's go!
We started our food tour of Taormina in Bambar. This is the most famous place in
Sicily for typical Sicilian breakfast, granita and brioche.
Granita is a cold sweet treat made from water, sugar and fruit
that is never completely frozen. It's mixed continuously to obtain a texture
that is grainy and creamy at the same time.
This place really serves the authentic granita with a very fresh and fluffy
brioche. Next on the menu was Sicilian cannolo.
We stopped by Pasticceria Laboratorio Roberto,
another famous food spot in Taormina.
Definitely feels very fresh, not like
old crust, old shell, three years old, three days old
and nuts are caramelized in sugar.
We wanted to sample more cannolis so we went to Pasticceria Minotauro for their
special cannolo with fragoline, small strawberries and crema pasticcera
This is not a typical one but still was amazing.
It's so refreshing, that's my favorite cannolo, I really like it because
all of them are really very very sweet. This one is nice.
After our sweet breakfast we moved to the beach and I had a typical Sicilian
arancino with ragu for lunch there.
For the dinner that day I cooked quick gnocchi with tomato sauce
and some shredded chicken we had from the day before.
I'm a big fan of Italian cuisine and I know that adding protein into your pasta
is not according to the dining rules in Italy
but hope I can be forgiven for that as I really prefer to have it all together.
I added some stracciatella cheese and parmesan on top to make it more creamy.
I really enjoy Italian cheeses a lot.
For breakfast I made a quick protein yogurt with some fruit to get some
protein in and nutrients as my diet in Sicily was a bit off due to
sampling different sweets all the time.
When you're in Sicily you cannot miss a day without granita and brioche so we
stopped by our favorite local cafe to have a breakfast number two.
After we needed to do some grocery shopping so we stopped by supermarket
and local piscariere for fresh fish.
When we got home I marinated tuna steaks we brought earlier in some
salt, pepper, lemon, oil and garlic. I also made some caramelized onions to
put on top of the steak when it's ready.
So it's evening and we are in Savoca now. This is a small village where Godfather
film was shot also very famous here in Sicily and we are going to visit quite
famous restaurant here Pippi Spezzi. It's fish restaurant slash
Sicilian cuisine I guess so we'll see what we will order there.
But for now we will enjoy the views and I'll catch you with the food.
So I've got some breadcrumbs here which is a part of this sardine pasta.
So for the second course we have swordfish rolls with raisins, pine nuts,
also some pepper, bell pepper and it tastes... swordfish is very dry fish but this one
just a nice way I think to eat swordfish.
For desserts we had decomposed canola and cassatina cake
which were the highlight of this dinner.
It is day three and we're starting our day of course with a typical Sicilian
breakfast granita and this time I took cornetto filled with pistachio cream.
This is my favorite pastry when I'm in Italy.
After our breakfast we had a full beach day so I prepared some homemade panini for us for lunch.
For dinner that day we had leftover tuna steak, salad and a piece of pizza.
Nothing really fancy that day.
Hi it's another day and we are relocated from our previous day Forte d'Agro to Scicli
which is two hours drive from Forte d'Agro and now we're going to have typical Italian
breakfast as usual cornetto and cappuccino and later we're going to visit some shops like
piscaria or pasta shop to get something for our lunches here and maybe dinners and of course
we're going also to travel around so I will try to show you the foods we're eating in other towns here.
For lunch we made ravioli from the pasta shop we bought earlier.
They were filled with ricotta cheese.
I added some pistachio pesto and famous pienza pecorino cheese we bought in Tuscany.
The dinner that day was super simple.
The fish we bought earlier from a local fishmonger and some pizza we picked up in a supermarket.
I usually debone the fish after it was cooked with the help of spoon and fork.
The next day we decided to try another pasticceria in Scicli.
They make seasonal artesian granitas.
We decided to take mandarin one and it really tasted like frozen margarine.
So good!
Later I had homemade panino with mortadella, pesto and some cheese at the beach as usual.
After the dinner we went to try something what was on our list very long.
Sicilian canola with freshly made shell.
This is the only place in Sicily which makes the shell for the order
so it cannot be fresher.
I highly recommend to visit this place if you are in Sicily.
Very pistachio.
Best taste of the chocolates.
Very rich.
To be honest I don't feel too much chocolate flavor here.
Pistachio is richer.
The next day we started in another cafe to sample another granita.
This one was one of the best we tried in Sicily.
So rich in flavor and brioche was so warm and buttery.
For lunch we decided to cook gnocchi inspired by typical Sicilian dish pasta alla norma
with eggplant and salty ricotta cheese.
Original recipe does not call for chicken but protein needed to be eaten.
If you know you know.
Dinner was very simple that day.
Take out pizza and another canola from canolia for dessert.
Today I basically used leftover eggplant sauce and pasta which we bought in a pasta shop.
This pasta by the way is not typical Sicilian one but Apulian one but still was super good.
It's very similar to famous orecchiette.
We started our day in the street market of Siracus
at famous Cassificio Borderi sandwich shop.
And look at that.
This sandwich is everything you would want and even more.
This is a truly a masterpiece of a sandwich.
After we stopped by newly opened granita place.
This is artisanal granita made from fresh fruits so highly recommend to check it out as well.
So we're already back from Siracus.
We stopped by our house.
It is very hot now in Italy.
It's 42 degrees and at highest peak it is 47.
So we're surviving the heat at home and now it's already 7 in the evening
and the heat dropped till 40 now.
And we wanted to stop by Modica.
This is a chocolate town of Sicily and we wanted to try their hot cold chocolate.
It's a melted chocolate but cold.
It's very tasty.
We already tried it one evening three days before and it's so good.
So we decided to come back.
