There are in fact two things, science and opinion. The former begets knowledge, the latter ignorance.
Hippocrates
Hippocrates established the foundations of modern clinical medicine. He coined many terms that are
now commonly used by doctors such as symptom, diagnosis, therapy, trauma, and sepsis.
Furthermore, he described a large number of diseases without resorting to superstition.
Historians agree that Hippocrates was born on the Greek island of Kos around 460 BC
and died in Larissa, Greece at the age of around 95.
According to Seranus, a physician and his first biographer, Hippocrates' father was Heraclitus,
a physician who, along with his own father, taught Hippocrates about medicine.
Hippocrates' two sons, Thessalus and Draco, and his son-in-law, Polybus, were his students.
Hippocrates is credited with being the first to believe that diseases were caused by natural
causes rather than by superstition and gods. The disciples of Pythagoras credited
Hippocrates with uniting philosophy and medicine. He separated medicine from religion,
believing and arguing that disease was not a punishment meted out by the gods but rather
the result of environmental factors, diet, and lifestyle choices.
Hippocrates and his father has described many diseases and medical conditions.
He is credited with being the first to describe finger clubbing,
an important diagnostic sign in chronic lung disease, lung cancer, and cyanotic heart disease.
As a result, clubbed fingers are also known as Hippocratic fingers.
Although Hippocrates did not establish the school of medicine named after him,
nor did he write the majority of treatises attributed to him,
he is widely regarded as the father of medicine.
His contributions revolutionized medical practice and the Hippocratic oath is in use even today.
Hippocrates was so revered that his teachings were widely regarded as too great to be improved
upon, and no significant advances in his methods were made for a long time.
Hippocrates was known as the Great Hippocrates, according to Aristotle's testimony.
Hippocrates was portrayed as a kind, dignified, old country doctor at first, and later,
as stern and forbidding. He was unquestionably wise, extremely intelligent, and especially
practical. Thank you for watching. Don't hesitate to comment below and share this video with your
