Zelensky revealed that Ukraine already has a new version of the summer counterattack plan, Trump may accept the invitation to visit Ukraine?
After a long wait, Ukraine changed its strategy to force patriots. Why do you say that there is not much time left for Russia?
Hello everyone, welcome to watch the New Cold War. I am Li Yongyuan.
According to the Ukrainian Kyiv Post, on April 10, Ukrainian President Zelensky revealed in an interview with Deutsche Bild that
Ukraine has already developed a new version of the counterattack plan, but he also emphasized that it still needs weapons, weapons from the United States.
Until recently, Zelensky admitted that if the United States does not provide new aid, the military failure of Ukraine seems likely to happen.
And in an interview with Deutsche Bild, he also said that Russia's attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure was successful.
This has had a major impact on the war, and the attack on energy supply has brought great pain to the Ukrainian people and cities.
Here I will insert a sentence.
Ukraine's Minister of Energy Rozhashenko confirmed on April 8 that the Russian military has attacked 80% of Ukraine's coal and gas power plants and more than half of its water power plants in recent weeks.
This is the largest-scale attack on the Ukrainian energy system since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Even the scale and impact of this blow is much more serious than their attacks in the winter of 2022-2023.
You can imagine how difficult the life of the Ukrainian people is now.
Speaking to former President Trump, he claimed that he had a plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Zelensky said,
If that's just letting us give up our territory, if that's the idea of the plan, then it's very simple and primitive.
However, Zelensky assured that he was willing to listen to Trump's proposal.
But he also said,
But we need strong arguments. What we need is not a wonderful idea, but a real idea.
This concerns human life. We can't joke or take risks.
Zelensky also revealed that although he has not personally called Trump, he has publicly and privately invited the former US President to visit Ukraine.
We expressed our wish for Trump to visit Ukraine so that he could see the situation in person and draw some conclusions.
I am absolutely willing to meet with him.
He said.
In response to Trump, Zelensky said,
Trump expressed his wish to visit Ukraine, but did not specify the time.
Zelensky said,
He hopes that this visit can be implemented as soon as possible.
This interview with Zelensky is the deputy editor-in-chief of Deutsche Bild.
What surprised him was that Zelensky insisted on arranging the interview location in a tent near Kharkov.
It is possible to be bombed at any time.
The deputy editor-in-chief commented,
Zelensky doesn't like dark rooms or basements. He loves freedom.
Whether you like him or not, you have to admit that Zelensky is one of the most courageous leaders in the world.
It is this extraordinary courage and love for freedom that support him and the Ukrainian people to this day.
According to a report by the U.S. Bloomberg on April 10,
U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin warned that
Ukraine's recent attacks on Russian oil fields may affect the global energy market,
and urged Ukraine to focus on military targets.
Austin told the U.S. House of Representatives Military Committee
that these attacks may have a chain reaction to the global energy situation.
For Ukraine, it is more advantageous for those that can directly affect the tactics and combat objectives of the front line.
According to the report, as the situation on the Ukrainian battlefield continues to deteriorate in recent weeks,
the U.S. is increasingly turning to launch attacks deep into the Russian territory,
including attacking infrastructure.
The U.S. says the purpose is to hinder the Russian army from obtaining fuel supplies
and reduce Russian oil exports.
The U.S. said Austin's warning was immediately refuted by Republican Senator Tom Cotton.
He accused the U.S. President Biden of stopping Ukraine from taking effective action
because of political reasons.
Cotton said,
In my opinion, the Biden administration does not want the price of oil to rise in the election year.
Even U.S. Secretary of State Stoltenberg also stood up for Ukraine
and expressed a different view from the U.S.
He said,
According to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defense.
This right is stipulated by the UN Charter.
Ukraine has the right to strike military targets in Russia,
including oil refineries, of course.
Today, Russian TV said,
Austin's statement further confirmed that the U.S. asked Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil refineries.
RT said,
There is no sign that Ukraine is willing to listen to the U.S. on this issue.
Earlier this week,
the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said it would expand its attack on Russian oil refineries.
According to the Russian TASS,
Kremlin Spokesperson and U.S. President's Secretary of State Peskov said,
The Russian side hopes that the U.S. will not only call on Kiev to stop attacking Russian energy facilities,
but also to avoid engaging in terrorist activities.
The first of which is to stop attacking residential buildings.
However, the Russians seem to have completely forgotten about their missile attack on Ukrainian civilian residential buildings.
Compared to the Russian army's ability to launch hundreds of different types of ground-to-ground missiles at once,
the Ukrainian army's long-range strike capability is still weak,
especially when attacking Russian territory.
The problem is that the Ukrainian army is not only weak in attack,
but also lacking in air defense.
Especially at the moment when the Kremlin is focusing on striking Ukrainian energy facilities,
it is even more prominent.
Now, Ukrainians almost every night will hear anti-aircraft alarms,
anti-aircraft missiles are being accelerated consumption.
In this case, the Western military is still not enough,
or the Ukrainian government has changed its strategy.
In an interview with the Washington Post,
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kureba said,
In the absence of positive effects in the goodwill diplomacy that has always been flat,
he has decided to change his style,
insisting that the West provide more patriotic air defense systems.
Kureba said,
The Ukrainian government has confirmed more than 100 patriotic anti-aircraft systems that can assist Ukraine.
Many countries use more than one patriotic anti-aircraft system to protect ports and airports,
but their safe environment does not need such a high-end anti-aircraft system,
causing actual waste.
Public reports show that Ukraine now has three patriotic anti-aircraft systems,
but to provide comprehensive anti-aircraft protection for the entire Ukraine,
at least 25 patriotic anti-aircraft systems are needed.
It should be said that it is only defensive,
but does not eliminate the Russian military's long-range precision strike ability,
which is still passive after all.
But the problem is that the Ukrainian army has no way,
or lack of enough means to eliminate the Russian military's long-range precision strike ability.
This is the real bad move of Ukraine at the moment of crisis.
But finally, in the dark,
I saw a glimmer of light.
Yesterday, the European Parliament showed a scene of unprecedented power.
Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt
asked the European Parliament to stop reviewing the budget of the European Council
until the European Council decides to support Ukraine's increase in the patriotic anti-aircraft system
and can find other patriotic anti-aircraft systems that Ukraine needs.
This proposal was supported by 515 European MPs,
62 MPs opposed.
Mr. Guy said,
Europe opened the door to Ukraine,
but the European Council is not able to decide to send some anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine
in such a tight situation.
Mr. Verhofstadt said,
Mr. Verofstadt said,
This is not the same as the old F-16,
which is replaced by a more advanced F-35.
Many of Ukraine's existing troops
are facing shortage of troops.
During the ongoing conflict,
there is no big problem with the replacement.
Frontline soldiers are already exhausted,
and need to be replaced and repaired.
On April 11,
with the Ukrainian Recruiting and Mobilization Act,
it was finally officially passed in the Parliament.
Recruiting age dropped to 25 years old,
Ukraine is trying to solve
this real-life problem.
For comparison,
Ukraine's current recruiting age
is 25 to 60 years old,
and Russia's mobilization age
is 18 to 65 years old.
Russia has mobilized millions of people
in the past two years,
and can still mobilize about 30,000 people every month.
Ukraine's mobilization
has not yet reached its goal.
Ukraine has 880,000 troops,
but only 300,000 are in the front line.
Most of them have not been replaced.
Compared with Russia's strong reserves,
Ukraine must mobilize troops,
strengthen training,
replace, and ensure the combat effectiveness of personnel.
Of course,
mobilization is not just a matter of personnel,
but also requires more funds, equipment, and training.
If Ukraine can't get more funding and assistance,
the number of mobilized people will also be greatly affected.
Ukraine needs to train new soldiers,
strengthen its defense line,
strengthen its defense production,
seek allies' support and more assistance,
in order to be able to survive
the most difficult year of 2024.
Only in 2025 can Ukraine launch
a larger-scale counterattack.
So I think
what we saw at the beginning,
what Zelensky said,
a counterattack in the summer of 2024,
is unrealistic.
It's probably just a lie.
The purpose is still to urge the West
to give more aid.
For Ukraine,
if it fails,
Ukraine will no longer exist.
This war on survival
is far from over.
There is no way back.
The only way is to fight to the end.
Putin's ambition
is probably not just
the current profit.
The mobilization is to strengthen
the strength of the troops
and provide the necessary breath time for the army.
In addition,
Ukraine's defense line
is also being built rapidly.
But there is another news.
Ukraine's domestic industrial production
has been severely hit.
Now even the construction of defense formulas,
especially the cement and steel
of the dragon tooth device,
have expired.
According to Zelensky,
Ukraine is actively facing these challenges.
It is expected to make significant progress
by 2025.
With the passage of the mobilization law,
it is expected that by the end of 2024,
Ukraine will gradually improve
in all aspects.
So,
you can only wait now.
Take it easy.
There is no other way.
As long as you don't surrender,
stick to it,
there will always be a chance,
there will always be hope.
And there is not much time left for Russia.
It is expected that Russia will reach the end of the year
to make substantial progress on the front line.
Then it will encounter
more severe progress obstacles.
Even if a large-scale mobilization is carried out again,
it may not be enough to make a major change.
2024 may be the last chance
for Russia to make substantial progress.
If Ukraine makes further progress in 2024,
and increases its strength more in 2025,
it will be a major long-term test
for Russia.
I am Lin Yuanshan.
Thank you for watching the New Cold War.
See you next time.
