James Webb Finds Most Distant Supermassive Black Hole Known
How big might black holes get?
Well, they could reach what they call "stupendously large" sizes, each harboring the mass of 100 billion suns or more!
Discovering such gargantuan monsters may shed light on the nature of a significant fraction of the mysterious dark matter that makes up four-fifths of the matter in the universe.
And now, for the first time, thanks to James Webb, astronomers have just discovered evidence of Outsize Black Holes lurking in the distant universe, a cosmic beast formed so soon after the big bang that standard theory can’t explain how it was built.
