Jerry Rig's Experiment about Cybertruck Towing Capacity Is Wrong? Here is Why.🚗🚗🚗
Just recently, Jerry Rig Everything, a Youtuber, has conducted a real-world test about towing capabilities of the Cybertruck. He drove at about 65 miles per hour on the highway, the outside temperature is 32 degree Fahrenheit, and found out that Cybertruck only has 90 miles of range while hauling 11,000 pounds. However, it’s important to say that, in fact, Cybertruck’s performance is not that bad.
The test took place under unfavorable conditions, introducing numerous factors that significantly influenced the vehicle's towing capability. In today’s video, I will do a deep dive analysis into his test, explaining it in the physics way. There are 3 questions that will be answered. First, how much energy did Cybertruck use to tow more than 11,000 pounds? Second, how much heat loss did Cybertruck suffer when towing at such low temperature? And finally, I will give a real-world figure about Cybertruck towing in different scenarios.

Here's what you'll discover:
🔧 Energy Consumption Calculation:
- Explore the forces acting on the Cybertruck during towing, including air and rolling resistance.
- Calculate the additional force the Cybertruck endured while towing 11,000 pounds.
- Determine the power required, highlighting the vehicle's impressive efficiency in comparison to theoretical values.
🔧 Heat Loss Analysis:
- Examine the impact of cold weather on EV battery range.
- Calculate the energy consumed by the HVAC system during the test drive and discuss its implications.
- Consider the heat loss from the fully charged Cybertruck before the test, influencing the overall range.
🔧 Range Estimation in Different Scenarios:
- Provide a detailed table showing the estimated Cybertruck range under various conditions.
- Highlight the vehicle's potential range under different speeds, temperatures, HVAC statuses, and towing capacities.
- Discuss the significance of these figures in real-world towing scenarios.

Most cases where people need to tow something, they're not going to be bringing something this heavy further than 90 miles anyway. At the same time, it’s an excellent case for anybody who plans to do long-distance hauling to invest in the range extender. How do other comparable trucks like the F-150 Lightning or R1T stack up when put through these same conditions?. What do you think of today’s topic? Leave a comment below.
