On July 12, 2022, the universe changed forever.
Scientists still don’t know for sure what happened, but on that Tuesday the first “deep field” images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) were released—and astronomy has been in a frenzy ever since.
Over one year later, the story of how our universe changed that day is becoming clearer as James Webb, through its superior ability to see back 13.5 billion years near the beginning of the universe, continues hinting that something is wrong with cosmology.
New observations by Webb suggest that ‘we may need to rethink key features of the origin and development of the Universe’.
But is cosmology really in crisis?
And do we need a new cosmology?
All this and more will be discussed in today’s episode of EYES 200M!
