Chrysler 300 flees from Arkansas State Police - Girlfriend jumps out during pursuit #chase #pit
Trooper's Narrative:
On March 26, 2024, at approximately 10:09 P.M., I was sitting stationary on I-540 near the 9 Mile Marker and observed a black
passenger car approaching a high rate of speed. I was not able to lock the speed on the rear radar. However, I locked 80 on
the front radar while still stationary. I turned on my headlights and pulled onto the roadway, the suspect vehicle began to speed
up.
I followed the vehicle off the 8 Exit Ramp to Rogers Ave. The vehicle pulled into the Road Runner Gas Station, and I initiated
my lights for a traffic stop. The vehicle was a black Chrysler 300 bearing a Mississippi drive out tag 032524 to the rear. The
vehicle stopped at the last pump and was facing towards Rogers Avenue. The driver fled pulling onto Rogers and then onto
Cliff Drive. We then went south down to S 58th Street. At the intersection of S 58th and Boston Street, I attempted a Tactical
Vehicle Intervention (TVI) and failed. The suspect vehicle slowed abruptly and turned east onto Boston. We proceeded down
Boston under the I-540 overpass turning south onto S 62nd Street. We followed S 62nd until S 66th Street and turned south.
The suspect ran the red light at the S 66th Street and Phoenix Ave intersection. They continued south on S 66th Street turning
left onto Jackson Street. Jackson Street came out to S 69th Street where we went north and came back out to Phoenix Ave
and turned east. Trp. Roam #400 was traveling the opposite direction and became the primary unit in the pursuit. I continued to
inform dispatch of the pursuit. The suspect vehicle turned north on S 74th Street, turning east on Rogers Ave where the suspect began driving recklessly They then turned south on Massard Road and then back west on Phoenix Ave. The suspect vehicle blacked out, weaving through traffic. They finally turned right onto S 74th Street then entered Three Corners Apt.
Complex located at 3500 S 74th Street. Turning into the complex, a black female passenger jumped out of the moving vehicle.
She was later found. The vehicle continued to the back where it dead ends. Trp. Roam performed a TVI, stopping the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Markale McDonald. He was driving on a suspended license. McDonald was
advised of his rights under Miranda and placed into my vehicle. The vehicle had a strong odor of marijuana. A search was
conducted and revealed a half gallon bag of marijuana that weighed 55.4 grams, a joint that weighed 4 grams, a scale, and
several clear baggies were found in the jacket pocket that McDonald was wearing. McDonald told me about a previous injury
where he had broken his leg. Fort Smith EMS was called to evaluate him. He refused treatment.
The passenger was later found near S 74th Street and Rogers Avenue where she was trying to enter into a cab. She was
identified as Taziya Sanders. Sanders sustained minor injuries when she jumped from the moving vehicle. She
refused treatment from EMS. Sanders claimed to not know why McDonald had fled. She further stated that she jumped
because of being scared and just wanted to go home.
McDonald was willing to speak with me on scene about the fleeing and marijuana. McDonald stated he feared going to jail
because he knew I would smell the marijuana and search it. He also claimed all the items found as his. Sanders was released
without charges.
McDonald was transported to Sebastian County Detention Center without incident.
