One day, the Sanyo family receives an unanticipated visitor - Hattori, a ninja boy from the Iga mountains, who has enrolled in a regular school. Hattori befriends Kenichi Sanyo, his peer, and attends school in disguise, sometimes joined by his brother, Shinzo, and Shishimaru, the ninja dog, along with Kenichi's girlfriend, Yumeko. However, the group faces danger from their rival, Kemumaki, and his wicked assistant, Kagechiyo the Shadow-cat.
