All my cats have varied in their types and levels of intelligence. Our Tonkinese cat named Taka was probably the smartest.

I used to play with him using a laser pointer, as soon as I turned it off, he would run up to me and pat the hand that held the pointer until I turned back on again. He knew exactly where that dot was coming from!

One of his favourite games was playing fetch with a crumpled piece of paper. I would throw the paper, he would run after it, and bring it back. That’s not the clever part. The clever part was when one day he hopped up onto a chair and threw the piece of paper and waited for us to pick it up and bring it back to him. He had reversed the game!

When we brought home a kitten to be his companion, he did not like the idea of this “creature” playing with “his” toys.
I was dumbfounded when he trotted up to the kitten, shoved his nose in the kitten’s face, then pointed his nose at the toy, growled, then pointed his nose at the kitten again.
