Hello and welcome back to the channel.
I hope that you're all well
and I hope that you've had a brilliant summer.
It's now September.
I don't know how that happened.
With September comes the change of seasons.
And with the change of seasons,
there's always two things that's guaranteed to happen.
Firstly, I always get sick.
I'm a little bit ill right now.
I don't know if you can tell with my voice.
And secondly, I always get so tempted
to want to buy a lot of new items
to kind of transition into the next season.
I have so many tabs open on my laptop.
It can be really overwhelming
when all the new collections come out.
And that's when I really have to remind myself
that I don't need all these new things
and that actually I can rely on my classic items
to see me through this next period.
And that's kind of what this video is about.
I have eight outfits that are perfect for this time of year
when we're in that really sweet spot
in between summer and autumn.
I've used a lot of items that you would have seen before,
a lot of classic pieces, wardrobe staples,
whatever you want to call it,
just pieces that I know I can re-wear
and restyle again and again.
But first, I want to show you
this absolutely gorgeous handbag
from the brand Songont that I am really excited about.
This is the medium song bag in the color taupe.
And this portion of the video
is in collaboration with Songont.
They let me choose a bag from their collection
and I instantly fell in love with this little bucket bag,
especially in this color.
I think this taupe shade is the perfect shade for autumn.
It's also the perfect size just for like everyday use.
I just know that this bag is going to be glued to my arm
for the next season.
You know how much I love a mid-range handbag.
I did a whole video about my mid-range bag collection.
And I must say this bag is really up there
in terms of price and quality.
This bag retails for under $400,
which I think is a really good price
considering all of the features,
which I'm going to show you.
It's made of a really nice grained leather.
The feel of it is really hard wearing.
It's not the type of leather
that's going to scratch very easily.
The design is also really unique.
So it's a bucket bag,
but the handles are almost placed on the opposite way
that you think they should be,
but it works and it just kind of adds
to how special the design is.
And I also think it's really well-made.
It's quite minimal.
There's no crazy hardware or branding.
Even the color of the thread in the stitching
is the exact same color as the leather.
So it's just all very seamless.
You just have the brand Songmont embossed very small
on one side, which I really appreciate.
One feature of this bag that I'm so happy with
is that it has feet on the bottom.
I have more expensive handbags than this
that don't have feet that I think should have feet.
And so this like little attention to detail
to like necessity and practicality
kind of makes me respect the brand a little bit more.
And it just makes me happy
that this kind of attention to detail is placed on this bag.
And even in the packaging,
the little feet had tiny little silicone covers on,
which I just thought was great.
So let's talk about the inside of the bag.
It's basically just one big compartment,
so you can fit quite a bit in here.
And I was pleasantly surprised to find
that it actually comes with this little pouch
because they don't have any pictures of this on the website,
but it comes with this pouch
that you can snap into place inside the bag.
There is a little zip compartment on top,
and then there's a magnetic closure little pouch
at the front as well.
And it's also lined in silk on the inside,
which I think is a really nice touch
and kind of a nod to the Chinese heritage of the brand.
So I personally think bag security
is quite a big factor in the design of a handbag.
I always talk about bag security in my bag reviews.
And so my only concern was kind of the bag security
of this bag as it is quite an open top,
but it actually has two straps going across it
that you can attach to each other.
So the first one is this kind of hook closure
that has the Songwons branding on it.
And then on top of that,
you've got another magnetic strap on top.
So when you've got these two closed,
it does actually close the bag quite a bit more
than I thought it would.
So the opening of the bag is actually quite secure
considering the nature of bucket bags.
And lastly, as if all of those features
weren't enough already,
it also comes with a long strap
so you can wear the bag cross body.
I'm a huge fan of bags that you can wear in different ways.
And I think wearing this cross body
gives it a completely different look and feel.
I also like that the strap is slightly thicker as well,
so it's more comfortable to wear on your shoulder.
I highly recommend this bag.
I think it's a really great quality bag
for that mid-range price point.
And the design of it is also really unique,
but it's also modern and classic.
And I just think it will fit in really well
into your wardrobe.
And just all the small attention to details
just really make this something special.
I do, of course, have a discount code.
It will be on the screen and also in the description box.
Go check out Song Mon's website
because they have a really great collection of handbags.
So now onto the outfits
and how I will be styling this bag this season.
There's nothing I love more than a striped shirt.
And once the weather starts to cool down a bit for autumn,
I instantly whip these out of my wardrobe
for an easy outfit formula.
I like shirts to be a little bit oversized and boxy
so that they're not so corporate.
So I really like the fit of this one in particular
as it has that really dropped shoulder
and it gives off that effortless feel.
Rolling up the sleeves and styling the shirt in this way
also helps to relax the overall outfit,
yet you still feel put together
as button downs intrinsically are.
I've paired this with a pair of looser fit boyfriend jeans
that I had tailored to a cropped length.
And as both the jeans and the shirt
are quite menswear inspired,
I've paired them with ballet flats
and I love the contrast
between the masculine and feminine silhouettes.
I've also styled the Song Mon bag.
This colour really is perfect for autumn.
It's a darker neutral,
so it just fits in so seamlessly into my wardrobe.
A knitted vest is a wardrobe staple for me
during the transitional months
as they offer warmth around your chest,
but then you still have the breathability if you need it
as your arms are uncovered.
I also just really like the shape of them
and they offer a really great piece for layering
when it gets colder too.
I've paired this with a linen mini skirt.
Early autumn is a really fun time for style
because you can play with the proportions
of an outfit so much more
and pair items together
that you might not typically style together.
For a bag, I've gone with a brown basket bag.
The deep brown colour
keeps it feeling less spring and more autumn,
whilst the woven elements of the bag
are still quite summery and light.
I think this is a great transitional piece.
For outerwear, I have gone with a classic herringbone blazer.
I love the oversized fit with the mini skirt.
And to finish off the styling,
I'm wearing white sneakers and sunglasses
that have a clear frame,
which I think really works with this outfit.
I think that a pair of great quality camel trousers
are timeless and, in fact, seasonless.
These are 100% wool, but they are very thinly woven,
so they have that breathability and fluidity to them.
I've paired the trousers with a white top and tan sandals.
This is a great base for many outfits.
You could pair this look with so many different jackets
to create lots of different looks.
I've gone with a navy striped sweater over my shoulders.
The temperamental autumn weather
calls for knitwear to be worn in lots of different ways.
Navy and camel are great colour pairings.
They complement each other so well
and look really smart together.
You can, of course, wear the jumper properly,
as I've done here.
The quarter zip jumper is a firm favourite of mine.
I also do a front tuck to hide the excess bulk of the jumper
and also to show where my waistline is
so that I appear taller.
Knitwear and summer sandals
is one of my favourite transitional combinations,
and I try to make the most of it,
as it can only happen for a small amount of time
before it gets too cold.
Crop jackets aren't going anywhere,
and so I'm re-wearing mine from a few seasons ago.
They are so easy to style,
and the structure of them really elevates
anything you wear it with,
even a simple white tank top and blue jeans,
as I have on here.
I've kept everything really light coloured in this outfit
so it doesn't look too heavy.
I think that the base of this outfit
could have the ability to look too uniform,
too one-note, if that makes sense.
And so I went with a pair of chunky loafers
and these black sunglasses.
I think that, for me, adding in these elements
helps to add in a little bit more style to the outfit.
So I don't know what it is about this outfit,
but it's probably one of my favourite outfits.
This is one that I wore last autumn,
and I brought it back again this year for another round.
I'll try and articulate why I love it so much.
So let's start with the skirt,
as this is the most statement piece.
This is about five years old.
It was so, so popular when it first came out.
It was all over social media.
I mean, probably even a little bit overdone for a while,
but I still absolutely love it.
And because it's in quite a neutral colour palette,
it has remained in my wardrobe.
It's also in a cut that I really enjoy wearing.
I think slip skirts are really timeless and easy to wear.
Moving on to the top,
this is another great transitional piece.
I also think the mock neck is really flattering
as it extends the line of my body,
making me appear taller.
And lastly for accessories,
bringing in a top handle bag
helps to give this outfit some more structure.
And also adding in the chunky loafers
brings in a more masculine element
to an otherwise quite feminine skirt.
And it's juxtaposing these styles
that I just enjoy wearing so much.
One of the best ways to look put together
when you don't know what to wear
is to wear a matching set.
Better yet, keep your whole outfit
in the same sort of colour palette.
The top and cardigan matching in colour
makes this simple combination
feel very intentional and curated.
It's also in the perfect tone for autumn.
I've gone for a pair of white jeans here,
which truly are a wardrobe staple for me all year round.
I think they look great in every single season.
For accessories, I have kept everything brown and tonal
to achieve an outfit that feels really cohesive.
I'm still styling my maxi skirts going into autumn,
but instead of pairing them with sandals and tank tops,
I'm styling them with sneakers and t-shirts.
As the skirt is quite long,
I like to pair it with a tighter fitting top
to balance it out.
This is an alternative to a classic t-shirt
as it's in that kind of tighter baby tee silhouette.
I like the short capped sleeves.
I think that's a really nice fit.
As this is a really casual outfit,
I've added in the long strap to the Songmont handbag.
And as you can see,
this gives it a completely different feel.
It now feels like a really casual day bag
that can be used to run errands, go shopping,
or anything that you need to be hands-free for.
I love a versatile bag.
Another classic look to wear for years to come,
double denim.
It has been trending for a while,
but it's actually such a timeless combination.
I like to keep the denim pieces in different washes
instead of matching them perfectly.
I think that keeps it looking modern and contemporary.
Again, an oversized shirt
really gives a more casual element to the outfit,
but I have offset this with the patent ballet flats
that feel slightly more dressed up.
Bringing both smart and casual elements together
in one outfit gives your style more dimension.
You're not just wearing clothes,
but you're styling them in interesting ways.
I hope you enjoyed this video.
